Checking Out The Garmin Strength Training Workouts

It’s tempting to let this blog go dark for a few weeks while I am sidelined from running, spinning, and Orangetheory with my DVT diagnosis, but in keeping with my perseverance tag line, I will keep going.  My second week was more boring than my first, with no business trip and no weekend bike ride.

 

Just as I was losing motivation for my strength training, Garmin released a catalog of strength workouts you can download to your device. Sometimes mixing it up is all it takes to get through a slump.

Easing Into October With The Lifeline Metric Half Century

When my doctor called me Monday morning to follow up on my DVT diagnosis, I wasn’t surprised when she clarified that, while I am encouraged to walk, I should not run for at least three weeks. I resigned myself to easing into October, canceled my Orangetheory classes, and accepted that I won’t be running the Richmond Half on my birthday in November.

I didn’t double-check that easy cycling was OK–the doctor on call last Friday approved it as long as I wear a helmet, which I always do. I figured spinning was out, but I decided the metric half century distance of the Lifeline 100 ride would be OK.

The Best Laid Plans

I started the week inspired to end my running slump and get back into running. By Wednesday I had picked a half marathon training program I had just enough time to complete before the Richmond Half in mid-November. By Friday I had completed two runs and hit the treadmill hard at Orangetheory.  But you know what they say about the best laid plans. Today, I am in the midst of another running break.
