A Solid Week Of Running

Just when I start wondering why I still self-identify as a “runner” I have a week like this. I ran almost every day, and the main reason I took one day off was to give my legs a break before the Lawyers Have Heart 5K.

Scooby has a lot to do with my running streak–he likes to run and I like giving him a chance to burn off more energy–but I also took advantage of a business trip to Boston to get in some great runs there.

Wrapping Up A Solid Week Of Running

Since I was in Boston on Wednesday I missed out on all the Global Running Day activities. I definitely have FOMO over the race registration deals I missed out on, but need to remember that my fall calendar is pretty full as it is.

Here’s my rundown for the Weekly Wrap link up hosted by Holly and Wendy.

Monday: 2.6 mi run with Scooby + strength workout

Tuesday:  5 mile run along Commonwealth Avenue, through the Public Gardens and Boston Commons.

I also walked a mile to/from a breakfast meeting, checked out all the booths at a huge expo, and was on my feet until 10 pm at a reception.

Wednesday:  5.5 mile run along the Charles River

Thursday:  1.67 mile Scooby Run + strength workout

Friday: CPY2 at Core Power Yoga
It felt really good to be back on the mat in Ann’s class! She’s encouraging me to try headstands and I’m getting there.

Saturday: Lawyers Have Heart 5k.
I’ll tell you a bit more about it on Friday, but I crushed my sub-8 goal

Sunday:  4 miles with Scooby

He really pushes–or pulls-my pace!

Did you celebrate Global Running Day?

Definitely a really solid week and congrats on your awesome race this weekend. You totally crushed it!!

  2. Congrats again on your race! Maybe you should be my run coach ????

  3. YOU got a lot of running in this week, and totally kicked buttocks on Saturday πŸ˜‰ Congrats again!!

  4. Lesley says:

Sounds like a great race with a PR! I loved running along the Charles when I was in Boston in 2010. It was fun seeing all the sites.

  5. Wendy says:

You had a great week, indeed! I truly believe the work you’ve been doing at OTF has paid off. I need to get back to my burpee intervals. That was pretty effective too! You’ve inspired me.

  6. Looks like Tuesday was a very busy day for you. You had a good week of runs!

  7. Cari says:

Scooby Miles, <3 Best name. Boston is such a great city and I feel you on Expo steps. They were crazy for me in Phoenix.
    Congrats on amazing race pace

  8. Darlene says:

Wow. I would definitely say your week was solid.

Kudos to you on your speedy 5k. All that hard work has paid off.

I wish I could be inspired but work is so draining. I am glad just to get out there and run and in a race, cross that finish line upright.

  9. Marcia says:

Aaah! It looks SO nice to run in Boston! The only running there I’ve ever done was for the marathon. I’d love to go back just for fun…cuz we all know marathons are no fun. Haha! That was an epic 5k!

    • Coco says:

Hah! I do enjoy running more when I’m not racing. Boston has great places to run and you can even see the finish line if you go before there’s too much traffic.

  10. I really love weeks like that. I love when you can look back on your weekly workouts and feel like you accomplished a lot and that you got some awesome mileage. Good job!

  11. Jenn says:

You absolutely did crush that goal! That’s amazing!

    Scooby is the cutest.

We did a group run near my house, but nothing major. A lot of the local events were at night and a) I hate night running and b) it’s been raining in the evenings, so we got it done on our own. Sorry you missed out, but it sounds like you made up for it in other awesome ways!

    • Coco says:

I’m not much for evening running events either. I don’t know when to have dinner and I hate having to shower twice a day!

  12. Scooby is racking up a lot of miles! Although at one point I did a 3 mile run with Bandit last year (which we had to work up to), I just realized I don’t like running with him that much. Just doing the cool down with him seems to be enough for both of us — most days!

    • Coco says:

I wish it were more convenient to drop him off/pick him up mid-run, but I live at the top of a steep hill that I rarely run up (or down). I guess I could try ….

  13. Congrats on running a speedy Lawyers 5k! Your pace is incredible! I can’t wait to read your recap.

  14. Andrea says:

Wow! What a great week! And way to go, Scoobs for keeping up!

  15. Denise says:

Puppies definitely make you run fast. Looks like you had a great week!

  16. RenΓ©e says:

WOW! great week and GREAT JOB on your 5k!!!!

I’m the runner who didn’t know about Global Running Day and ran the day before! *Doh*!! I went to spin class with my friend Vincent. Do I still get to call myself a runner? haha!

  17. HoHo Runs says:

You had a great week of running! So did Scooby. Congrats on a fantastic finish time at the 5k. Now, we need details. I did not celebrate Global Running Day…I think I could barely walk that day! But, I wished I had seen all the great race discounts. I must have been off social media that day too. Thanks for linking!

    • Coco says:

Hah! Tune in for details on Friday — do the kids even say “tune in for …” anymore? Do they even know what it means?

  18. You had a great week! I love that you’re getting in some Scooby miles πŸ˜‰

Hopefully, we’ll find a way to squeeze in coffee on your next trip to Boston. Or perhaps a run…but you’ll have to slow way down for me! That 5K you ran was super speedy! Congrats again.

  19. Teresa says:

I’m loving Scooby …he has the coolest coat coloring and I know he’s enjoying running with you. Congratulations on your 5k, you definitely crushed your goal. I keep saying I’m going to try OTF …there’s one less than 3 miles from my house so I really have no excuses!
