A Solid Start To April

It’s hard to believe it’s April when I had to bundle up a few times this week, but the calendar doesn’t lie even if Mother Nature likes to trick us.

A Solid Start To April

This week was boring in a good way. I got in a solid set of workouts and my hamstring was pretty well-behaved. The Breakthrough Crew challenge for April has an “ascend” theme—i.e., climb rides and tread hikes. My hamstring isn’t ready for steep incline on the tread, so I did the cycling options.

Monday: Short strength workout at home before heading to my office gym. I took Leanne’s  15 min funk ride to warm up for Emma’s climb. I was glad I had time for a short cool down ride and stretch, because that climb was non-stop!

Tuesday: It was a rainy morning, so after walking Scooby I did an upper body strength workout and then hopped on my tread for a 3 mile run.

Wednesday: Another short strength workout at home before heading to my office gym. This time I took Camilla’s Machine Gun Kelly ride as a warm-up. Peloton has an option where you can track your previous performance on a ride (sort of like me vs. me on the leaderboard). Since I’ve taken that class before I gave it a try, and was surprised when I couldn’t keep up! Granted, I didn’t want to push too hard before Tunde’s climb, but still.

Thursday: 3.75 Scooby miles.
Finally a dry morning for a run! And a work-at-home day, so I could wait for daylight to head out.

Friday: Corepower Yoga with my fav instructor!
I was stalking the Corepower schedule looking for another instructor to try when I saw that Ann was subbing for the 6 am Friday class. I signed up and set that 4:40 am alarm. It was so worth it—her programming is so good!

Saturday: 5.0 Scooby miles
This time I did plan for 5.0 miles. My hamstring was whispering towards the end, but mostly fine!

I’m glad I didn’t put away my winter gear,
but the sunshine balanced out the wind.

A huge thank you to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up. And thanks to all of you for putting up with my hamstring saga!

Is Mother Nature playing tricks in your neck of the woods?

Still winter here. Trees are bare. Longest winter ever. lol.

Happy to hear how well your running is going. It seems your patience paid off

And yes weather has been crazy. We even had an earthquake.

  2. Debbie says:

Happy to hear that your hamstring is only “whispering” these days on its road to recovery. You’re getting there!

Mother Nature is playing the same tricks on me that it is on you. Yesterday’s bike ride was tricky to dress for so I pulled out all of my winter gear, afraid I’d get too hot toward the end, but I didn’t.

  3. Jenny says:

Yay! We both ran 5 miles yesterday : ) I know you said your hamstring was “whispering” to you (my ankle still whispers as well) but it sounds like you’ve definitely turned the corner. Just in time for some beautiful running weather- if spring would only get there. Sounds like it’s slow to come this year.
I love the Scooby pics! He looks so happy in that last one. I’m sure he’s glad your hamstring is better, too.

  4. Catrina says:

A me vs. me challenge sounds difficult! It’s like trying to beat a previous PR in running races.
    Good news about your hamstring!

  5. Wendy says:

I did see signs of spring this morning on my run–the grass is starting to ‘green up’ in the woods where my trails are. And the birds are going crazy there, lol. Happy to hear your hamstring continues to play nice!

I thought that your shirt said ‘3.75 Scooby Miles’ for a minute, the way you have the caption centered there, lol

  6. This past week was one of our worst weather weeks! Hope it is all moved out and spring can spring in. then we can complain about summer

  7. I was also part of the Saturday 5-mile run club 😉 Lots of crazy everywhere last week. That’s great news the hammy is still feeling (mostly) happy.

  8. Michelle says:

Yay for 5 miles! I’m glad to hear that your hamstring is mostly behaving. I that continues for you.

  9. I haven’t busted into my warm weather workout clothes quite yet. I’ve got a few items which are for the gym and I might just get to use them outdoors this week. 72 degrees is in our forecast! Glad the hamstrings are still behaving.

  10. Jenn says:

    I don’t even know what’s going on. It’s cold. It’s hot. It’s dry. It’s rainy. Sigh.

  11. Jessie says:

Oh, so happy to read this Coco! What a relief.

The weather seems to be wild on the east coast lately!
