Noteworthy November Coffee Date

Welcome to the November 2021 Ultimate Coffee Date. What makes this one noteworthy? As many of you know, November is the month both Deborah and I celebrate birthdays—along with several other of our friends in this corner of the blogosphere. 😀 So, feel free to enjoy a slice of cake with your coffee, tea, or hot cocoa as we gather for the Ultimate Coffee Date.ultimate coffee date badge

Noteworthy November Coffee Date

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that November took me by surprise. October was really busy at work, including a trip to Chicago, a speaking engagement at a conference closer to home, and an all-day training program for our new associates conducted via TEAMS (the Microsoft equivalent of ZOOM). When I got through all that–BOOM!–it was November and time to make plans for Thanksgiving.

AIPLA 2021

Can you tell I’m wearing a suit?

If we were having coffee, I would update you on the hot peppers I accidentally planted in my AeroGarden. They are still growing like gangbusters and have outgrown the lamp and the rest of the system. I have been known to let plants die from neglect, but I can’t ignore the red lights that tell me to add water or liquid food, so maybe these will survive long enough to bear fruit—or peppers.

Hot Peppers Aerogarden

You can’t see them in this picture, but there are tons of flowers
and a few peppers starting to form!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you about the books I’ve read recently. Good As Dead and The Last Flight were both gripping page-turners. I could see the loose threads of Good as Dead coming together, but was eager to see exactly how things would come to a head. The Last Flight had a fascinating premise and an ending I didn’t see coming.

October books
Sankofa is completely different, and follows a woman who discovers the father who never knew she existed became the leader of a small African country after he left her mother. I just started it last weekend and am almost finished—proof I am having a hard time putting it down.

  1. Your pepper plant is really growing fast and it’s great that you have blooms and baby peppers already.

Have a great weekend and thanks for the linkup!

  2. Wendy says:

That’s awesome about your pepper plant! My succulents are keeping on for the most part. I brought the outdoors ones in and aside from losing a few leaves, they’re adjusting well. One of my cacti–who has been indoors all year, is not looking good tho. Sigh. I think I’m a little too attached, lol!

October was busy, wasn’t it? By the way, I loved The Last Flight!!!

  3. Marcia says:

That is a very happy pepper plant! It is my year to host my family for Thanksgiving. I was planning it, and then I got distracted and now it is sneaking up. I failed to bring one large pot of succulents back in the house. I hope I did not kill them.

  4. Wow that’s a great looking pepper plant! Whenever you mention your AeroGarden I keep meaning to look into getting one.

October was crazy busy! It’s so odd to think that Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away. I’m grateful that my brother’s hosting – I need a break from long road trips.

  5. Darlene says:

I’m still succulent obsessed. And my two Christmas cactus are blooming. Crazy.

I have put those books on my list. Which is very long. Lol.

It seems everyone is in Chicago these days. Glad to hear the trip worked out well.

  6. My poor plants have been neglected & the orchid died a while ago. 🙁 I’ll probably try one again someday when i’m not so busy. I am making more of an effort because the Christmas cactus is beginning to bud!

You had a VERY busy October, Coco. My guess is you’ll continue to be busy until the end of the year.

Our Thanksgiving plans are still up in the air, and are dependent on my mother. Possibly on Mr. Judy’s plans to *maybe* visit his mother finally. Only time will tell.

  7. I was so happy to meet you and show you around in Chicago!

I liked Good as Dead, too! I read/listed to page turners instead of TV!

  8. Wow, that pepper plant! I’ve had good luck, in recent months with my indoor green thumb…my orchid is reblooming (I didn’t know they could do that, LOL), and my grandmother’s dieffenbachia is thriving since I cut back the stalks (and the cutoffs are going crazy as well). October was a crazy month for me, too…probably all those football games.

  9. Catrina says:

What a busy November! It’s always funny seeing runners in business outfits. We’re so used to all the sweaty selfies it’s hard to imagine we also have different lives! 😄
Do you read books more while travelling or more at home?

  10. jenny says:

I hope you actually like hot peppers- since you planted them “accidentally.”
It sounds like you’ve been reading some good books! I’m not even going to pretend to put them on my TBR list, because that list is a mile long and i’m struggling to get started on it.
Yes, suddenly Thanksgiving is looming. It did seem like it came up fast!

    • Coco says:

Nope! I am afraid of them. If they grow by Thanksgiving I will give them to my son. Otherwise maybe my daughter will cook with them over Christmas. 😉

  11. The last flight was really good! My aerogarden did not take off so well. I started over and still not having good luck except for the basil Oh well. I have been focused on my trip this weekend and Thanksgiving and kind of forgot about our birthdays. Maybe we can do lunch or coffee? Time is flying!

    Happy birthmonth to us!
Putting those on Mt. TBR, which is flooded, as per normal.
Now I want something spicy. Can I have spicy birthday cake?
I do have Thanksgiving travel plans, which reminds me I need to ping you to see if a hi on the way makes sense 🙂
