Runfessing At The December Ultimate Coffee Date

Today three of my favorite link-ups are colliding, so let’s spend a few minutes runfessing over coffee, shall we? Deborah and I will keep the December Ultimate Coffee Date link up open through Sunday and hope you stop by other coffee date posts throughout the weekend.December Ultimate Coffee DateWhether you are here for the Ultimate Coffee Date, Runfessions, or the Friday Five, you will want to check out these tips for making the most out of link-ups

November Runfessions // December Coffee Date

If we were having coffee, I would runfess that my Black Friday/Cyber Monday shopping was pretty evenly split between gifts for others and clothes for myself. I couldn’t find anything I wanted at Athleta (mostly because I have so much from there already) but I got some pretty good deals on office wardrobe staples from Talbot’s.

Speaking of the holidays, if we were having coffee, I would tell you that the use of the word “gift” as a verb (gifting, gifted) really annoys me. Where did it come from? Why?

If we were having coffee, I would runfess that while I am still sad about losing my Xmas Playlist when I smashed my iPhone two years ago, this Christmas Classics playlist on Amazon Prime Music is pretty good.

Don’t have Amazon Prime Music? You can sign up for a free trial here.

I runfess that I’ve gotten so lazy about making playlists, I am still listening to ones I made three years ago. Pretty soon they’ll be Golden Oldies.

If we were having coffee, I would runfess that even though I’ve got my bib, jingle bells, and hat, I’m not feeling ready for the Jingle All The Way 15K next weekend.

I runfess that for the first time in ages I didn’t do a long run over Thanksgiving weekend, and I’m a bit worried about running 9+ miles without Scooby to keep me going.

On the other hand, if we were having coffee, I would tell you that I am looking forward to my annual Christmas cookie bake-a-thon which is also next weekend. I’m making my usual eggnog spritz and ginger spice cookies, because why mess with tradition?

You can see the results of previous bake-a-thons here and here

If we were having coffee, I would remind you that our next Ultimate Coffee Date will be well into the new year, on Saturday, January 5, but we’ll open up the link-up on Friday.

Did you score any great Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals?

Any trendy phrases that rub you the wrong way?

Do you make you own playlists or let Amazon or Spotify do it for you?

I did find myself in Athleta on Black Friday and while I did indeed make a couple of purchases, overall it was a much lighter haul than expected. A good thing for sure. One can’t go wrong with eggnog spritz!

  2. Wendy says:

I didn’t score anything major on Black Friday or Cyber Monday, but I did do some shopping for both my family and me!

Love that hat and good luck on your race! I’m glad I’m not racing this weekend–the weather looks awful!

  3. Well st least you got a hat for your race. You will probably need that. I am so bad at making playlists. I finally downloaded a few new songs and made a playlist the other week. First time since this sunmer.

  4. I am not ready for Jingle at all. I will be doing intervals again and I’m fine w that. I have been looking for a playlist for the MRTT holiday party so thanks for sharing yours I will check it out!

  5. Do egg nog spritz cookies have egg nog in them? I looked it up and the recipe I found does not. I looooove the taste of egg nog, would I like those cookies?

  6. I remember seeing pics from your previous cookie baking parties! Looks fun 😉 I have a race tomorrow (just a 5K), but the weather is looking icky…upper 30’s and rain! But, it’s the last race before almost two months of nothing, so….

  7. Lesley says:

I ordered one gift card on Black Friday, and nothing on Cyber Monday. I know some stores have a 30-return/exchange window, and I didn’t feel like one day after Christmas was enough time. Thanksgiving was so early, and now I’m starting my shopping.

    • Coco says:

Oh, good point on the return period! I hope places would extend it for the holidays, especially with Thanksgiving so early this year.

  8. Laurie says:

Oh, man. I didn’t get the memo that the Coffee Date was today. I thought it was next Friday. I had a post written, but not published. I just quickly published it. 2 post in one day! 🙂 That will teach me to pay attention!

    • Coco says:

We got you! It’s always officially the first Saturday, but by popular demand we started opening the link up on Friday. So, technically, it’s the Friday before the first Saturday, which may be the first Friday or could be the last Friday. 😉

  9. I think this is the first time in a long time that I didn’t snag any great deals during Black Friday/Cyber Monday. I did take advantage of the deals on Shutterfly to get my Christmas cards done so that was a win!

Your cookie bake-a-thon always looks so yummy!

    • Coco says:

I did order stuff from Snapfish and sent my clients Peppermint Bark from Williams-Sonoma — free shipping is key when you’re got 15 orders!

  10. Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says:

I’ve been thinking about sprucing up my Christmas music playlist on Spotify. I’ve been trying to find some of the less popular/obvious choices, but some of the classics are still my favorite! I used to like listening to Amazon Prime Music at work but it’s blocked, ugh!

Cookies…yum! I’m hoping to step up my baking game this holiday season! I actually need to make some sort of dessert for a party tonight…

    • Coco says:

So far they only thing they’ve blocked at work is Gmail, although I haven’t tried to stream music, I can stream NPR. #newsjunkie Good luck with that dessert!

  11. Farrah says:

I didn’t end up buying anything for Black Friday/Cyber Monday this year–still trying to slowly declutter (and I also did a fair amount of shopping while I was in Hong Kong, haha). Glad you found some great deals!

    Those cookies are so cute!

  12. kookyrunner says:

I runfess that I didn’t find too many Black Friday deals. I think if I needed electronics I would have scored big because those deals were really good!

Those wreath cookies are so cute and festive!

  13. Darlene says:

I was working on Black Friday and then I drive to a race – no time for shopping – probably a good thing.

Those cookies are making me drool.

  14. I have the perfect capris for the Jingle all the Way race and thought about running it with some of my friends, but then I remembered that I’m having a basal cell removed from my leg on Wednesday and won’t be able to run for two weeks.

I listen to the Amazon Top Pop station when I run or I’m listening to music on Alexa in my house. I’ll have to take a look at their playlists.

    Thanks for the linkup!

    • Coco says:

Good luck with the surgery! I thought I’d ordered the InkNBurn ugly Christmas sweater shirt, but apparently after debating over the size I never hit “submit”. I’ve got my ProCompression xmas socks at least.

  15. Liz Dexter says:

I didn’t do black friday or cyber monday but I did giving tuesday. I don’t really need any stuff at the moment (OK, I bought a new tiny A5 clipboard in the week, but that doesn’t count …). Love those cookies/biscuits! Very pretty!

  16. HoHo Runs says:

I’ve been watching the Christmas Cookie Challenge on the Food network. So all I want to eat is cookies! Your’s look delicious. I’ve also been listening to iHeart Radio’s Christmas classics. It’s a pretty good list but if I listen long enough I hear the same songs over and over. Thanks for coffee!

  17. Cari says:

    Gift
And solve and ask as a noun: what’s the ask for this project? Any idea what the solve might be for this?
    Your eggnog spritz look amazing
    Similarly concerned for tomorrow’s 15K
