I’m A Farm To Fork Fondo Ambassador

I’ve cut down on brand relationships over the past few months, but when the Farm To Fork Fondo decided to have an official ambassador program, I couldn’t resist. I’ve worked with them for the past two years, and knew supporting their events would be a natural fit. We already signed up for Farm To Fork Fondo–Pennsylvania Dutch at the end of June, and are looking forward to the gorgeous scenery–even at the price of those Lancaster hills!

I’m disappointed that we can’t do the inaugural Virginia event (Farm to Fork Fondo–Shenandoah), but I had already signed up for the Colfax Denver Half Marathon when it was announced–maybe next year!

Farm To Fork Fondo

There are eight Farm to Fork Fondo events this year, starting with Farm to Fork Fondo–Shenandoah May 19-20 and ending with Farm to Fork Fondo–Garden State October 13-14. I also was eyeing Farm to Fork Fondo–Vermont’s Champlain Islands since my son’s girlfriend is from Vermont, but that event conflicts with other vacation plans.

The different events have different difficulty ratings (Pennsylvania is rated Moderate, Garden State is rated Easy) and each offer four distances–from a 10ish mile Ramble Ride to an 80ish mile Gran Fondo. We do the Medio Fondo, which usually is in the 50-60 mile range. They all include great support, including circulating SAG and mechanic vehicles and, of course, fantastic rest stops at local farms.

Weekly Wrap

I finally got back to my normal workout schedule this week, but had to rearrange my Sunday morning schedule to fit in my last long-ish run before the Cherry Blossom Ten Miler next weekend. My church doesn’t usually have a Saturday evening service, but the 6:00 pm Easter Vigil service got me off the hook for Sunday morning. πŸ˜‰

Monday: Strength workout, focusing on PT exercises

Tuesday: Cyclebar

Wednesday: Orange Theory Fitness
This was my first OTF workout since February 6! They had a new computerized sign-in process and new monitors, but the workout was the same fun, fast-paced challenge I have been missing.

I was glad my Garmin app still worked!

Thursday: Strength workout, focusing on PT exercises

Friday: CorePowerYoga

Saturday: Conte’s Hill Ride!
Three months sounds like a long time to get ready for Farm To Fork Fondo–Pennsylvania Dutch, but I was eager to kick off my training with the Conte’s hill ride. I did it 10 times last year, but haven’t been since August. Luckily, I remembered my gearing strategies and my legs remembered how to climb.

We had a HUGE group but
rode in smaller packs based on pace.

Sunday:  8.25 mi run
I thought I’d get over my dread of Hains Point and check out the cherry blossoms. A few trees were in bloom but they will be closer to peaking next weekend.

Please make plans to join us for the Ultimate Coffee Date link up next weekend!

I’m linking up with Holly and Wendy for the Weekly Wrap

I’m also participating in the Cherry Blossom Training Link Up that Heather is hosting.

Happy Easter!

Let me know if you have any licorice jellybeans you’d like to send me …

    Congrats on your ambassadorship.

Looks like you had a good week.

DC cherry blossoms are on my bucket list. Someday.

  2. Kim G says:

Congratulations! I know you have spoken about their events in that past and they sound great!

  3. Congrats on your Ambassadorship! Jelly beans, I like the popcorn flavor. Not a fan of the licorice so I’d definitely send them your way.

  4. Wendy says:

Congrats on your ambassadorship! I wish they had Fork to Fondo races here. I’d love to do one!

  5. Clarinda says:

Congrats on your ambassadorship. Sounds fun! We’re really hoping to start riding our bikes more often now that we have a nice bike rack and the weather is warmer.

Looking forward to catching up over coffee next weekend!

    • Coco says:

I definitely enjoy riding more when it’s warmer, but I’m getting used to riding in the 40s. I think last spring my threshold was the 50s!

  6. HoHo Runs says:

Congrats on the ambassadorship! I love the graphics on the cycling jersey. It’s never too early to start training for those long rides. It’s great the cherry blossoms will be at their peak for this year’s race. I bet that doesn’t happy very often. Just FYI–I had an issue trying to comment on your post last week. I didn’t want you to think I was ignoring you. πŸ˜‰ Happy Easter and thanks for linking.

    • Coco says:

Thanks. I had some blog issues last week, so I assume any glitches were on my end. πŸ˜‰ On the other hand, I can’t find you on IG anymore …. #socialmediaprobs

  7. ha ha ha, licorice jelly beans! My hubby is all over those except I try to keep them of the house because I cannot stand the smell LOL I am always so impressed with the variety of workouts you manage to get in each week! The Farm to Fork Fondo rides scare me to no end! I need to get over my trepidation with cycling…

    • Coco says:

I was intimidated when I started cycling but now it’s just like riding a bike. πŸ˜‰ Seriously, you’d love it!

  8. Marcia says:

Congrats! I can relate to cutting back on ambassadorships but F to F is perfect for you! I’m coveting those cherry blossoms. It’s still so wintery here.

  9. Congrats! You will make an excellent ambassador.

Snow is falling up here at the moment, but the good news is it won’t be around long. The bad news is lots of rain in the forecast.

It’s definitely nice to be able to get back to normal.

  10. Lesley says:

If I had any licorice Jelly Beans, you could have them. I liked the flavor as a kid, but now don’t. I recently cleared out all the Clif chews I got last spring since I wasn’t using them.

  11. Congrats on being an ambassador! How exciting! What a great event to be apart of.

  12. Teresa says:

Congratulations on the Ambassadorship …sounds like a good one. I am really looking forward to riding again and maybe even another century with Holly!

Good luck this weekend at the Cherry Blossom …hoping for beautiful blossoms and perfect running weather!

  13. Congrats on your ambassadorship! A perfect fit for you!

Looks like those blossoms will be in bloom just in time for next weekend – one of these years I’m going to make it to this race! Can’t wait to hear all about it!

  14. Jenn says:

I know you love this event so much, so it makes perfect sense for you to represent it. I always love reading about it and I wonder if I would be able to squeeze something like this into the schedule. Adding a bike into the travel equation isn’t something I’ve ever thought about, but…. how hard could it be?

    Congratulations!

    • Coco says:

We’ve never flown with our bikes, but it can be done — or you could rent a bike locally. My husband would love to do a ride in Europe so we’d have to figure that out.

  15. Congratulations on your ambassadorship! Looks like you had s great week of workouts too!

  16. Andrea says:

Congratulations on the ambassadorship! That picture of you with the cow is adorable. Keep crushing those workouts and can’t wait to see how everything comes together for you!

  17. Congrats!! I really want to try one of their rides – I get their emails all their time!

  18. RenΓ©e says:

hey congratulations on your ambassadorship! it’s always nice to rep something that you already love; seems to me like it’s a perfect fit! but I gotta ask… what is Fondo exactly??? I love cycling, but I don’t have a ton of confidence to do these organised rides. The one time I did, in Cornwall, I was flying down a hill when large unleashed dog ran in front of me. I went over the front of the bike but luckily I wasn’t really hurt (nor was the dog). Maybe when I can’t run so much anymore πŸ™‚

looks like you had a good fitness week too. I’m so curious about OTF. we don’t have it here. It’s just as well I don’t need something else to be addicted to haha!

    • Coco says:

In this case “fondo” means bike ride — not a race. I’ve found cycling to be great cross-training for my running. πŸ™‚

      OTF is SO popular here.

  19. Congrats on being selected as an ambassador! It’s always nice when we can work with brands and/or events that we’ve really enjoyed participating with before. I know that you’ve really enjoyed this unique race experience in the past.
