Venturing Out For The June Ultimate Coffee Date

While parts of the country are lifting stay-at-home orders and allowing restaurants to open for outdoor service or at reduced capacity, the D.C. area is still a step or two behind. That’s OK, though, because the June Ultimate Coffee Date Deborah and I host is fully compliant with all social distancing guidelines–you don’t even have to wear a mask. 😉 ultimate coffee date badge

Wrapping Up May At Home

It’s strange writing about my workouts this week, how many miles I ran this month, and our weekly bike rides when there are truly important issues demanding my attention. I don’t have any answers to the anguish, anger, violence, despair, injustice, hopelessness and outrage that’s weighing on my heart. I know not knowing what to do is no excuse for doing nothing.

Prayer for grace

I’m even struggling with what words to pray, but the familiar opening line of the Prayer of St. Francis grabbed my attention this week: Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. I am watching and praying for how to live that out.

Still Runfessing From Home

My church is not yet open for worship, but luckily the runfessional over at Marcia’s Healthy Slice never closed. I’m still runfessing from home, but glad we don’t have to wear a mask to practice safe social distancing as we cleanse our souls soles.

Thanks to Lacey and Miranda for the Fairytales and Fitness Friday Five link up.

The first Saturday in June isn’t until next weekend, so make plans to join the June Ultimate Coffee Date then Deborah and I will open the (link-up) doors on Friday, and keep the coffee brewing all weekend. It will be so nice to get together! Continue reading

Trying To Keep Calm And Stay Home

This week I watched with interest as other states–and other regions of my state–began lifting stay-at-home orders and permitting at least some “non-essential” businesses to open to some extent. Because the D.C. area is still a coronavirus hot spot, that hasn’t happened for us. With reports of 700-1000 new cases a day in Virginia and 30-40 new cases a day in my city, I am trying to keep calm at the thought of more people being out and about and content to stay home.

Enjoying May Flowers With Scooby

We’ve had quite an unusual spring–and I’m not even referring to the coronavirus. Our winter was so mild, crocuses and tulips started blooming in February. By the end of March, our  dogwoods were in full bloom. We had more than the usual amount of April showers, but now we get to enjoy all those May flowers.
