Grocery Store Staples

My husband and I were tag-teaming it last week with alternating business trips, so I didn’t have to cook dinner until Friday. Still, I went to the grocery store to pick up a few essentials that we couldn’t do without even for a few days.

I thought it would be interesting to make a list of my grocery store staples. (Hopefully you’ll agree and keep reading!) Continue reading

Playing To Win

This post includes a review of the Victoria’s Secret Incredible sport bra. Influenster provided me with complimentary Victoria’s Secret products to test and review as part of a contest.

I have a friend who is very competitive. She doesn’t like to play if she doesn’t think she can win–or at least make a good showing. Sometimes I am jealous of her tenacity, but other times I think she is missing out.

Playing To Win
I can be competitive too, but I don’t mind trying something new even if I am pretty sure that I will suck. I certainly believe in giving it my all and playing to win, but I can define winning as doing my best and having fun.  Continue reading

My First Trail Run In Balboa Park San Diego

Last week a business trip took me to San Diego, California, where the weather is always perfect for running. On my first morning I met a friend for a 5 mile run along the bay. It was lovely, but I wanted to see more of San Diego, so on my second morning I convinced another friend to go for a run in Balboa Park.

We ran from our hotel to the park, and then studied the map at the park entrance to figure out a route. It was about 2 miles from our hotel to the park, we had plenty of time, and we both were up for about 7 miles, so we decided to try one of the longer routes. Continue reading

Five Things About Me

I love today’s Friday Five theme because I love getting to know other bloggers. I can’t wait to read the “Five Things About Me” that others share in the Friday Five link up sponsored by Eat Pray Run DCMar on the Run and You Signed Up for What.

1. I am a runner. With a blog called Running With Perseverance and social media names based on Got2Run4Me, it’s no surprise that I like to run, but it’s only recently that I’ve realized that I am a runner. I love to run. I plan my weekends around my long run. I do my best to go running on business trips and vacations. I wake up looking forward to my run, even if I haven’t gotten nearly enough sleep. Running gets me going and keeps me going. Running is my breathing space in my otherwise hectic days.

2. I am an attorney. While I don’t write about lawyering nearly as much as I write about running, I love my job as a patent attorney. I care so much about my legal field that I have an “award winning” legal blog that I don’t have to worry about monetizing or promoting on instagram, although it does have a twitter account ….

3. I married my high school sweetheart. I met my husband when I was 15 and we celebrated our 25th anniversary last year. He is thoughtful, romantic, and a good shopper. He puts up with me when I’m stressed about work, sweaty after a long run, or staging a picture of our dinner for a What I Ate Wednesday post.

4. I am a Francophile. French was my favorite subject in high school and I minored in French in college. I’ve only been to France twice, but I love Paris, the French language, French food, and a nice bottle of French wine.

5. I am an introverted homebody at heart. Being a parent and advancing in my career have forced me to come out of my comfort zone, but I am a shy introvert at heart and have to quash those old insecurities when I walk into a room full of people I don’t know. I travel a lot for work, but I really enjoy being at home–and still have not planned our summer vacation! I do enjoy visiting new places, but have to overcome a lot of inertia to get out of the house.

Healthy Airport Food On The Fly

On Sunday, I traveled from Washington, D.C. to San Diego, California. While I usually plan ahead and pack snacks so I don’t have to forage for healthy airport food, the 4:20 am text message from United telling me that my 12:22 flight was three hours delayed “due to awaiting aircraft” set me off kilter as I scrambled to rebook to a different itinerary so I could make my dinner meeting.

What I Ate On The Fly

I did pack a small bag with granola bars, almonds, and packets of Starbucks Via while I was talking to the United agent, but apparently I put it back in the pantry instead of in my bag! So, here’s a look at the relatively healthy food I found at the airport, and the other things I ate during my very long day.  Continue reading
