Awesome April Ultimate Coffee Date

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that after all I’ve been through so far this year, I am ready for an awesome April. Granted, except for having covid most of the drama only impacted me indirectly, but still, enough is enough. My Mom is being released from the hospital today, so it’s a good time to plant a flag and say things are going to get better from here on out. 😬

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I’ve been racking up Starbucks rewards stars like its my job. My Mom’s special order is a tall (small) tea made with two Tazo chai tea bags in steamed milk—no water, no syrup. I could have my coffee at home before heading to the hospital with her order, but once I’m stopping at Starbucks anyway I can’t resist getting an Americano.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you I barely finished this puzzle in March. I was almost done when my Mom and her accident, but only got back to it last week so I could share it with you.

Vacation inspiration!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I have another race on my calendar this month—the Parkway Classic on April 23rd. With the “flat” Cherry Blossom course behind me—did you see my recap?—I am trying to squeeze in some hill training—the first five miles are “rolling” to say the least!

I’m so glad to hear that your mama drama is coming to a close. Both my parents are having major health issues and I’m in the thick of it. Your mom is lucky to have you!

I’ve got my trail race coming up in 2 weeks. My training has been a challenge, but I’m going to just have fun with it!

  2. I was just thinking about asking you how things are going with your mom. Glad to hear she’s going to be release (and now the hard work begins). Trust me, I get the whole life interrupted thing!

I hope you do have an awesome April. Your mom’s problem do directly effect you!

Love the puzzle. I want to add another NP this year but not sure that will happen.

  3. That’s good news that your mom has recovered and is being released.
Best of luck with your race this month!
Thanks for the link up! Have a happy Easter weekend!

I’m so glad to hear your mom is being released from the hospital. My mom had surgery a couple of weeks ago and is still recovering. The struggle is real for sure. That’s a fun puzzle!

  5. I have the Drake 13.1 that same weekend & it’s a hilly beast (but I can’t resist going back & doing it every year). Cherry Blossom was a great trading distance, but now those hills await me. I’m glad I have plenty of hilly streets in my area, so I’m in decent shape in that sense. Good luck to you & your mom this weekend…hoping her transition to being home goes well!

Great to hear that your mom is being released from the hospital! I spent all of January dealing with my mom’s health issues and know how draining it can be. I hope calmer times are ahead for both of you.

That’s some elevation – funny I’ve always thought of DC as being fairly flat.

  7. Jenny says:

I love your attitude! I think we’re all ready for an awesome April. Glad your mom is doing well and being released from the hospital- that’s good news. And
I like her Starbucks order- I sometimes get the same but with oatmilk and a little bit of stevia. It tastes a little like their chai tea latte but without all the sugar.
    That is a cool puzzle!

      It is very good news!

When they have the Tazo chai tea bags, it’s not made with syrup, but you would have to swap out her milk order. 😉

  8. I sure hear you on the drama of March! I am also hoping for a much less eventful and relaxing April. Sadly, my races are off the calendar for this month. Hope mom is doing better this week!

  9. Darlene S Cardillo says:

    Great news about your mom.

I’m hoping my April is better than March too.

Wow on the SB stars. I have quite a few but not as much as you do.

Hooray for racings. Love reading recaps.

  10. Catrina says:

So glad that your mum is out of the worst! Nice job on looking after her, Coco.
How long is that Parkway Classic? 10 miles as well?
You will manage with those rolling hills – all your cycling has prepared you well!

  11. Debbie says:

I love your NP puzzle, but I have no patience for doing something like that. Sigh…

I really miss running the GW Parkway 10-Miler. Running on so much concrete always beat up my legs, but it was always one of my favorite races.

Sorry I couldn’t join in on the coffee date today, but it’s been a crazy week and I didn’t have time to pull a post together.

  12. Jenn says:

I’m so bad with my rewards from Starbucks. I always forget to use them. Sigh.

I could use a good April, too.

    that puzzle is so cool!

    Good luck with your training!

  13. Renée says:

I truly hope this month is much much better than March! you and your mom for that matter definitely deserve a break!!!

loving the puzzle, great you finished it!

  14. That is great news about your mom! Have a great race! I am impressed with the Starbucks stars. I hope April is better than March.
