Running On Fumes

It’s hard to believe I started the week with an extra hour of sleep. Between election work, Scooby’s unsettled GI tract, and work craziness, I ended the week a few hours short.

🇺🇸Can you see my little American flag earrings?🇺🇸

If you’re visiting from NaBloPoMo, this is my weekly fitness recap post for the Weekly Run Down link up hosted by Deborah and Kim.

Running On Fumes

Sunday: I did enjoy sleeping in on Sunday morning. Since I had doubled up my cardio on Saturday, I opted for a recent 45 min strength workout with Jess Sims (I love the format of her 45 min classes)  and then hopped on my Peloton bike for two “spooky” rides— a scenic ride filmed around Poenari (Dracula’s castle) and my favorite Lanebreak ride.

Monday: I was looking forward to the earlier sunrise and had a fantastic fall run. I needed my headlamp for most of my 4 mile loop, but it was nice to have some light by the end.

Tuesday: I had to be at the polling place at 4:45 am, and set my (first) alarm for 4:00 am. I thought I might be able to squeeze in a 10 min standing barre class before dashing out the door, but I opted for a few more gulps of coffee. I did set an alarm for 9:30 pm to make sure I remembered to take a stretch class to keep up my daily Peloton streak.

I’m impressed I got over 4000 steps just walking around the polling place.

Wednesday: I was pretty tired when my alarm went off at 5:00, but I was awake so I hopped out of bed and took Scooby out for a run (after a quick warm-up). You can tell I got an earlier start than Monday because it was still pretty dark when we finished.

Thursday: I had ended up working late at the office Wednesday, and decided to work from home Thursday. That meant I had more time for a longer stack of short workouts in the morning.

It’s good I stayed home, because Scooby had some GI issues that took both of us to handle. At one point I had to literally run away from a Teams meeting to take him outside. I had turned off my video but not the sound of my husband running the wet vac ….🤦‍♀️

Friday: Scooby woke up at 4:00 am, so I figured I had better get up and take him outside. I was so tired wasn’t sure I would be able to do my planned workout, but by the time we got back to the house, I was fully awake and feeling good.

I started that 20 min walk (outside with Scooby) at 4:32 am!

Saturday: Scooby seemed to be better, but I wanted to give him another day to recover. After our usual walk, I did a few light strength classes (core, upper body) and then took Jess Sims’ 30 min cycling class from when she was a last-minute sub for Jenn Sherman who was stuck in traffic. Jess Sims doesn’t usually teach cycling classes (or play 70s music!), and made “being ready is a decision” and “life is going to be challenging, have fun anyway” a theme of the class.

Scooby is so patient with random photo ops!

While I spent a lot of last week running on fumes, I’m grateful that I am feeling pretty good running. I can tell my calf is getting better, and notice it more cycling than running. I finally have a hematologist appointment this week and hope I can get more insight into my repeat history of DVTs.

A huge thank you to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up.

Do you have fall colors where you live?
