Another Blogging Secret Revealed

It’s day 4 of NaBloP0Mo 2026, and I’m going to reveal another blogging secret: I write all my posts in advance. That means this one will be short since I didn’t get home until 8:30 pm and am exhausted after helping over 1250 people cast their votes!

Another Blogging Secret Revealed

I’ve almost always written my posts the day (or night) before and scheduled them for the morning. Doesn’t everyone do it that way?

I have no free time on weekday mornings. I roll out of bed @ 5-ish, walk my dog, do my workout, shower, and head to work—usually arriving @ 7:30 am. I write my weekly fitness/life recap post on Saturday mornings—after my run, while I enjoy a leisurely pot of  coffee—and schedule it for Sunday. NaBloPoMo is making me revive my old evening blogging habit—it’s been ages since I’ve blogged more than twice a week. Most evenings I work until 6:30 or 7 pm, scrounge something for dinner, and park myself in front of the T.V. with my iPad for crossword puzzling, doom scrolling, and/or reading on my Kindle app.

One reason I joined NaBloPoMo was to cut down on the doom scrolling, but since I spend my work days reading and writing, I’m not always up for more “content creation” at night. For the month of November, I’ll draw inspiration from other bloggers to keep writing.

I’m participating in National Blog Poasting Month. Learn more and see the list of participating bloggers here.

I love having a post ready to go before the day, but often find myself writing posts on the day, especially if I have something brand new I want to post. For NaBloPoMo I have some posts from my holiday already written so I don’t have to write everyday if I run out of time.

I also write in advance, re-read and edit the night before and then schedule for early next morning. Writing every day is an amazing feat!
I only write every 2 weeks – I am lazy that way!

My blogging platform doesn’t have a feature for scheduled posting! And I don’t know how I’d build that in when every post is a text file that I drop in a folder. I’m ok with that. I write or at least prepare most posts in advance, although probably not with my daily photo posts, but I’ll keep them simple.

Most of my posts are pre-written and scheduled to go out at 5am central. I do most of my writing on the weekends. I have everything ready to go right now through November 10. It’s kind of nice because I am not as worried about writing posts as I am about making sure I visit all the participants and engage in meaningful conversation!

I almost always write my posts the night before. And then I publish them before I go to bed, which means Monday’s post actually goes up Sunday evening, etc. Unlike some of these amazing bloggers like Engie, I don’t have any posts written in advance- I guess I like to be spontaneous!
You have a LONG workday- and you get up at 5 am to work out. It sounds exhausting. No wonder you want to sit on the couch and doom scroll at night. My mind would be fried.

I always write my posts the day before and schedule them for 4AM EST the next day. Or sometimes they’ll be scheduled days in advance when I’m REALLY on my game. It’s very rare for me to write a blog post and then publish it right away.

    7:30AM – 6:30 or 7PM is a looooong workday, whew.

    Welcome to NaBloPoMo!!!

I actually don’t write very far in advance or at a set time. I’m prone to writer’s block, so most of my blogging time is spent staring at the screen trying to figure out what to say. Sometimes I write during the day and sometimes it’s more productive to write at night. Once I finally have it down, I let the draft sit for a bit and then come back and read it one more time before I publish. So I have never scheduled a post in advance! And I very much admire those who are better organized/less writer blocky.

I almost never do that and I don’t follow a post schedule. The blogging/writing is a process to slowdown, if I have more time I make longer posts, if I have less, few words, especially during this month of daily blogging challenge.
It’s so interesting to see how different bloggers adopt different styles.
I am so glad to find your blog, another coco, another runner. 🙂
