Summer Slump Runfessions

How can it be the last Friday of June already? Looking at the calendar makes it feel like summer is 1/3 over, but really it just started last week on June 21. No matter how quickly the months go by, I’ve always got plenty of runfessions. It always feels good to bare my soul soles and come clean at the runfessional over at Marcia’s Healthy Slice.

Thanks to Lacey and Miranda for the Fairytales and Fitness Friday Five link up.

Make plans to join the July Ultimate Coffee Date next weekend — Deborah and I will open the (link-up) doors on Friday, and keep the coffee brewing through Sunday.

Summer Slump Runfessions

runfess that I am in a real summer slump with my running. I have the best intentions to get up early to beat the heat, but when my alarm goes off the snooze button wins out. More than once I’ve gotten dressed for a run but decided while walking Scooby that it already was too gross out.

I runfess that on my last run with Scooby I stole a plastic bag off a neighbor’s newspaper to pick up after his second potty stop. It was a sunny day with no rain in the forecast, so there was no risk of damage to the paper, and I figured it was better “crime” than leaving poop in a (different) neighbor’s yard. Still, I feel better runfessing it.

I runfess that I noticed the mouthpiece on my Camelbak looked dark, and was horrified when I saw the black gunk inside. How long had that been growing there while I was drinking through it?

That mouthpiece went in the trash (I have replacements) and I scrubbed the rest of the pieces with bleach.

I runfess that I am kind of obsessed with my new InkNBurn Liberty & Justice singlet. I don’t always like their designs, but the ones I like tend to become fast favorites.

Do you have any new gear you’re obsessing over?

I’m in a total slump myself! And this is Week 1 Marathon Training…. ugh. combination of weather, lack of sleep and two concerts this week (3 in a week’s time!). But even before training started my “building up” was at tortoise level!

I don’t have any new gear can you believe it! But speaking of InB I do really want the Urban Flamingo tee… but, I need to really check if it fits in my budget.

I say, if you’d be excited to wear it — so it would help with that motivation — it’s worth it! I hope your summer heat wave breaks soon.

  2. Oh, love that singlet!

Bandit’s offerings have never been very good, so I always carry 2 poop bags with me. Because sometimes I have to wrap one in another one because it’s too gross to pick up anything more. Most of the time he only goes once, but Lola usually goes multiple times (although most of the times hers is very easy to pick up, but she does have her instances, too).

Last night was my first treadmill run in a long, long time actually. I’m sure it helps that most of my runs are short & not very intense.

I liked that INB shirt too! But I have the original Patriot design and there’s so much good juju in it that I didn’t want to risk a new one… :p

Running slump? I’m in it. I’ve been in it for a while. The heat just adds insult to injury!

    • Coco says:

You definitely don’t want to mess with good juju! Looks like I’m heading to Boulder tomorrow — hopefully I’ll get in a good run there.

I am always caught off guard on those “2 poop bag walks”. Love that singlet. I have not bought anything from Ink Burn yet, but I love their designs. I guess I am just going to have to dig deep (in my wallet) and break down and buy something. There is a long sleeved top I have been eyeing!

    • Coco says:

I thought I ordered their “ugly Christmas sweater” top last winter but never completed the transaction. I was so bummed when I realized my mistake.

  5. Marcia says:

Love that singlet! I also love your poop bag “crime”! Definitely beats the alternative. Haha! I walk Ozzy before I run and have also aborted runs because of the conditions. Ugh. Thanks for runfessing!

I have been slogging through the runs and even getting out earlier but ugh it’s been rough over here. Cute tank! I have to dig out my 4th of July gear for this week

  7. Denise says:

I have some new shorts that I pre-ordered coming soon from InknBurn…I can’t wait. It seems all the things I like are always sold out in my size. 🙁

  8. That is a cool design!
I am definitely in a running slump but my heart just isnt in it right now for various reasons.

  9. I think you get a pass on your plastic bag “crime” 😉

I love that InknBurn tank! I meant to order it during the pre-order but forgot 🙁

    • Coco says:

I did the same thing with their “ugly Christmas sweater” top last winter — I even started an order but never completed the transaction. I was so bummed when I realized my mistake.

  10. Kim at Running on the Fly says:

I don’t have INK gear, but I love everything I’ve ever seen. I almost got that top…almost. I think your crime in swiping the bag for Scooby’s business is not a crime at all LOL

    • Coco says:

I’m glad you agree I made the right choice! Luckily it was on a Sunday when more people get the paper delivered!

  11. Rabbit Food Runner says:

Oh yikes, I better go check all my drinking tubes too. I’m slightly terrified of what I’ll find. I take for granted that I need to clean them.

  12. runswithpugs says:

Ewwww! I very rarely drink on my runs, but i will check all little man’s tubes and nozzles. Yick!

I love that ink ‘n’ burn top! I’m in love with all my new Athleta sports bras. They are soft, supportive and comfortable.
