It’s been three weeks since I ran the Lawyers Have Heart 5K (you can read my recap here), but I just received my race photos. Since I didn’t take many pictures myself, and these are pretty good, I thought they’d be worth sharing.
This is the most scenic view, from the last 1/2 mile.
Lawyers Have Heart Race Photos Redux
I think this photo was taken around the first mile.
^^Here my foot strike looks pretty good,
but in the photo below I have a horrible heel strike!
In this one I’m flying:
Here I am approaching the finish line.
That face is proof I couldn’t have run 7 seconds faster!
And here I am stopping my Garmin. ๐
Is that guy reading a text message?
This is the first year I’ve gotten professional race pictures from the Lawyers Have Heart race. Thanks to Enduro Photo for capturing some good ones and sponsor EY (Ernst & Young) for making them free.ย ย
Weekly Run Down
My daughter was visiting through Tuesday, but it was more the weather than her stay that impacted my workouts. Since I posted so many photos above, I’ll just stick to the facts.
Monday: Strength Workout
After cycling Saturday and Sunday I planned to go for a run on Monday, but it felt so oppressive when I took Scooby out for his walk, I opted for a workout in my cool basement gym instead.
Tuesday: 6 mile run
It was still warm at 6 am, but a bit less humid, so I made it through 6 miles.
Wednesday: Cyclebar
After missing class last week, I didn’t want to miss Cyclebar again, even though my favorite instructors weren’t on the schedule. Emily’s class was pretty good, but I stil prefer Aimee or Francina.
Thursday:ย CorePower Yoga
This week and next week we are focusing on shoulder stand, which is challenging for me. All the forearm planks I do could be good practice, but I keep my weight onย my elbows instead of spreading it out to my forearms and hands, which is more helpful for shoulder stand.
Friday: Orange Theory Fitness
OMG this class was tough. We did two laps around the room, first spending 4 minutes at each station and then 8. On the treadmill, we did progressive runs, nudging the pace up every 30 or 60 seconds. On the floor, we did three different sets of paired moves. My shoulders must have been shot after yoga, because I had to lower my weights for the shoulder presses. I even pooped out during the core moves, although after a few seconds I sucked it up and forced myself to finish all the reps.
Saturday: 17.5 mile bike ride
I still felt a bit tired, but the weather was too nice to stay inside. We did the Arlington Conte’s ride and were treated to donuts back at the shop.
Sunday: 6.5 Scooby Miles
The weather was gorgeous, so I decided to take Scooby for a run. He started lagging after about 4 miles, but still had enough energy to chase a few squirrels on our street.
Thanks to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up for recapping our workouts and staying accountable and motivated.ย
In forearm plank, do you put weight in your elbows or forearms?
So much action! Your race pics are great! I often look like I have a heel strike, but it’s probably because the photographer catches me shuffling my feet LOL Thanks for linking with us, Coco!!
I love free race photos. I wish more race directors would make them available. I never carry my phone during a race and typically would not stop to take photos, so It’s difficult to do a race report with pictures. I love the one where your feet are not touching the ground! ๐
Several races around here have started having free photos, but not all sort them for you like these were. I don’t usually care enough to look through 3000 photos for one of me!
We love the Scooby photos (and the race photos, of course). LOL at the guy reading the text at the finish line — how do they DO that?
You have such a nice mixture of activity, Coco!
Glad you didn’t mind the Scooby pic. I wonder if it impacted his finish time?!
If it were me I’m sure it would impact my time! Actually, I’d probably drop the phone & shatter the screen!
NIce feet off the ground pic! Air Coco!
Funny re: EY – they are/were on our board and the rebrand was so confusing. But yay on free photos.
Impressed if the guy is indeed reading a text. Ic an’t focus and move at the same time
I had to Google EY. It’s like they want to keep it a big secret.
I dont’ know what else you would be doing right at the finish line — you couldn’t need to change your playlist at that point!
Those are lots of great pics! I hope free race pics is a growing trend. I’m still so disappointed with what few, crappy pics I PAID for at the London Marathon.
When I ran my first Boston back in 2009 a friend of mine also ran (threw down a 3:30) and texted the entire way. I can’t even imagine.
Great week of workouts as always!
You London Marathon photo experience is heart-breaking. I don’t have those texting skills. My fingers are to fat and my eyesight is too poor!
You really look strong in those photos and your workouts are proof of why!
Aw, thanks! They’re fun photos for once!
I love your race photos! They came out great. I always looks like I am dying in mine ๐
I think getting caught at mile 1 of a 5K makes a big difference! ๐
I love those photos from the race! You can really tell that you were giving it your all, especially at the finish line. I love when races offer free photos!
My OTF workout on Friday was different but still hard just like you described lol
I love it when they are free AND organized for you! I won’t play “where’s Coco” through hundreds of pics . ๐
Wow. Those are great pics. And for free!
Another week full of activities all fitness related. Congrats
Thanks it was a decent week!
Love those Scooby miles, he’s such a cute dog ๐
You still fit in quite a bit of variety as always! Amazing work.
Thanks! Scooby always makes me smile!
Those are great race photos! You look so strong! I really wish more races offered free photos – I just can’t bring myself to spend the money.
Thanks. I don’t mind paying if the price is right, but “free” is always a good price!
All great pics, and free is always good! The weather has been so crappy here, I have yet to get out for a bike ride, though my daughter-in-law took my bike for a spin when I was at work on Father’s Day. We have rain in the forecast for the next few days, so hopefully I can get a ride in later in the week.
What a bummer. Our weekend weather has been pretty good for the past few weeks. Knock-On-Wood! I hope you get good weather this weekend.
I love race photos that make it look like you’re flying- but the one at the end with the guy checking his phone makes me roll my eyes. Couldn’t have waited a few more minutes? The orange theory class sounds TOUGH! I’ve never done one before but have always heard such good things.
Orange Theory classes are fast and furious — hard work but before you die it’s time to switch stations. ๐
I love those race photos! How cool that they offer free photos now. I’m definitely thinking of adding this back in for next year ๐
I would love to see you there!
those photos are great Coco! you really are flying at the finish!! I don’t really know where my weight is on those types of planks because I hardly do them… that’s not to say I don’t want to learn! seems to me that you still got a lot of good activity in – I’d have love to join you for the donut ride ๐
The donut ride was a lot of fun! They usually have bagels. The Old Town shop has coffee cake and muffins. The Falls Church shop has something different every week. So, now I can choose my group ride based on the post-ride breakfast!
Hooray for free race pictures!! I was wondering what Scooby Miles were… but obviously ๐ Great workouts this week, a lot of classes!
Hah! Running with Scooby is a special kind of workout. First I have to sprint to keep up (he definitely starts out to fast), then I have to be on the lookout for cats, and I always have to be prepared to sprint after squirrels. ๐
I love these photos! You look so strong and awesome! Good race photos are really so great!
Great week! That OTF workout sounds killer! And I always love seeing Scooby’s sweet face. He’s so cute!
Great photos. The first is very scenic and you look focused and fast. I love to collect my race photos and sometimes I turn back in time looking at the old memories.
Please say “hi” for me to mr. Scooby.
