Lederhosen Cycling Kits For Easter?

My husband is a great shopper and has a knack for finding the *perfect* gift. He was so excited when he found lederhosen cycling kits, he wrapped them up for Valentine’s Day, even though it would be months before it would be warm enough to wear them.

That warm day came this weekend, and we wore them proudly on the Conte’s Alexandria group ride.

To fully appreciate their awesomeness, you need to take in the rear view as well.

You don’t have to be jealous–it looks like you can get your own here. πŸ™‚

My husband thought the flowers made them appropriate for Easter weekend, but I think we need to plan a “bike for beer” ride to get the most out of them.

Weekly Run Down

This week I was focused on maintaining my training for the hilly GWPC 10 miler next weekend. I chose hilly running routes and spent a lot of time stretching.

Monday: Strength workout, focusing on my PT exercises and core work.

Tuesday: Cyclebar

Wednesday: 5.25 hilly Scooby Miles + Physical Therapy

Still enjoying the pretty pink trees in my neighborhood

Knowing it was my next-to-last PT appointment, my physical therapist assessed my running form. The video showed some “hip drop” (evidence of lingering weakness in my glutes and tight ITBs), but good foot strike. Next week she’ll give me a list of exercises to keep up with on my own.

Thursday: Corepower Yoga

Friday: Orange Theory Fitness
The treadmill workout was a good one that focused on maintaining a base running pace between pushes. For the first block we alternated 30 second pushes with 30 seconds at base pace, in the second block we we alternated 60 second pushes with 60 seconds at base pace, and in the last block we did a 60 second push, 90 second base and 30 second “all out.”

I worked hard to get my heart rate up on the rower!

Saturday: 22 mile bike ride + 90 min yoga arm balance workshop

CPY Arm Balance Workshop

I was so excited when Ann told us she was going to be leading this workshop. She broke the class into thirds with short flows leading up to a different peak pose: chin stand, hurdler’s pose and eight-angle pose. Chin stand is something I’m still striving for, hurdler’s pose I can do pretty well, and eight-angle pose I could do one one side but not the other. It was challenging and exhausting!

Sunday: 8.2 mile run
On my morning walk with Scooby, I thought the carpets of pink petals under the trees looked like Mother Nature’s own Easter decorations.

happy easter scooby

After church, I headed out for eight Easter miles–without Scooby so I could focus on my form. I started off with a few laps at the track and then tackled some neighborhood hills.

Thanks to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up for recapping our workouts and staying accountable and motivated.Β

  2. Pretty solid week all around for you! Too cute on the cycling outfits love them. Bet they were a big hit at the group ride. Happy Easter and thanks for linking up

  3. That Yoga class sounds tiring, but I bet it was amazing. I’m not sure I would have the something (not sure what,) to wear that cycling gear. But you enjoyed it so that’s all that mattered.

The picture of Scooby with the flowers on the ground is really lovely n

  4. Marcia says:

OMG those kits are a freaking RIOT! What a fun and unique gift! The carpet of petals is so pretty. I can’t believe your season is already past and our trees are still essentially bare. Not much longer though!

This Lederhosen Cycling Kits are pretty darn cool – I love how you are both rocking them with pride πŸ™‚

That Corepower workshop sounds like it was a lot of fun!

    • Coco says:

You can’t be bashful in gear like that. πŸ˜‰ The yoga workshop was great. It was nice to have time to keep trying …

  6. All of those pink petals are beautiful. Those kits πŸ˜‰ My hubby has a bike jersey that says “Team Butt Crack” on the sleeve and, as you can imagine, a blurry image of a plumber smile on the back side (that is not so blurry from a distance). He has no shame LOL Thanks for supporting the WRD link-up!!

  7. Wendy says:

I saw your photos on FB with the leiderhosen kits and I cracked up! You guys are awesome!

  8. therightfits says:

Great outfits, so fun! I love that you and your husband can cycle together..and have a good sense of humor about it πŸ™‚

Beautiful flowers on that Scooby walk!

  9. Those cycling kits are the best! πŸ˜‰

I’m curious to see what exercises your PT gives you – I’ve still got some hip drop in my form too.

  10. Darlene says:

    You guys looked adorable.

I ran 8 miles yesterday. The weather was perfect.

    Congrats on graduating from PT.

    Hope you stay injury-free.

  11. Chaitali says:

I love those cycling kits, they’re so cute! Did you get some fun reactions to your outfits?

  12. Betsy says:

Oh my goodness, those are awesome! I need the running version. lol

  13. RenΓ©e says:

those cycling kits are hilarious!! you’d get plenty of chance to wear in Germany – I’ve seen the normal lederhosen out for several occasions at different times of the year πŸ™‚

the OTF and the corepower yoga both sounded really challenging and fun! And interesting about the running analysis. I find it really hard to focus on my running style / technique; I tend to pick one thing (core in, or arms or how I land) so that I don’t overwhelm myself during a training.

    • Coco says:

I would love to take a cycling trip to Germany — even if I had to wear this kit to do it. πŸ˜‰ I also struggle with thinking about running, but that’s what I did – focus on one thing. Hopefully it will pay off eventually.

  14. Your cycling outfit would look great for Austria LOL. Anyway, I am out of cycling shape. My first long ride will be Memorial day week-end and I’m not ready. I will be doing Global Cycling network ride on my stationary bike for 45 minutes tonight. They are a British cycling group on YouTube.

    • Coco says:

So is that a ride you follow along with on your trainer? Sounds cool. We haven’t planned our summer rides yet — need to get on that!

  15. Cari says:

I had the same re: hip drop, curious if you end up with the same exercises I do. I love those outfits — the best. You need to tackle the hills in Stowe and pop in at the Trapp Family Lodge, which is exactly what it sounds

  16. vitatrain4life says:

OMG those kits!!! I’m dying. They will have me smiling all week…especially when I’m on the bike. Love it.

  17. Love the outfits! Love that you and your husband can match and have a great sense of humor too.

  18. Steena says:

Those cycling kits are fun! What a fun way to spend Easter.

  19. Those kits made me smile!! Love them! That yoga class looks pretty intense. You go girl!!

  20. runswithpugs says:

Love those kits! I absolutely adore fun outfits like that!

Hi Scooby! Your dog always makes me smile!

I have come across so many great cycling events this week and I always think of you. They are all conflicting with little man’s basketball schedule right now so I have had to pass.

    • Coco says:

Aw, Scooby makes us smile too. Even when he’s going bonkers for squirrels. I hope you get to do a cycling event soon. I need to figure out our plans for the summer.

  21. Haha those Lederhosen are amazing! I actually have a photo of my husband at about the age of 6 in the full garb, and when my middle son lived in Vienna for a semester he and all of his buddies bought Lederhosen. I loved seeing all of the pics! It sounds like you had a great week.

  22. Organic Runner Mom says:

Those cycling kits are amazing! I would definitely wear one of those! So much fun!
