First Runfessions of 2024
I runfess I haven’t been to yoga yet this year. It’s mostly due to my favorite instructor changing her schedule, but I runfess I also haven’t wanted to set that 4:40 am alarm! Maybe next week ….
I runfess I hadn’t made it to my office gym until this week. To some extent it’s the same alarm clock issue that has kept me from yoga, but I also just haven’t wanted to deal with the extra logistics of having to pack a gym bag, etc.
I runfess although I am trying hard to be patient with my hamstring, I am hoping just as hard that it is better enough when I am in NYC in mid-February. I’ll actually have three mornings in the city—Lord help me if I am stuck in the tiny hotel gym for all of them.
Along those lines, I runfess I considered looking for a different hotel with a better gym, but since I already suggested colleagues stay at the same place, it wouldn’t be right to ditch them—would it? 😬
Speaking of my hamstring, I runfess I am feeling unmoored after my last shockwave treatment. With my Achilles, it responded so quickly there was little doubt I would be fine after the last treatment. While my hamstring is improving noticeably, it’s still too soon to tell if the treatments “worked” or if I will have to go to plan B.
What are you already runfessing to in 2024?
Oh I hope you’ll be able to venture out beyond the gym in NYC! And yes, I suppose it would be bad to lure your colleagues to a hotel and then ditch them…enticing though it may be…
So enticing! Also because this hotel doesn’t have a restaurant so I’ll have to venture out for dinner for three nights.
Hmm, I can’t remember what “plan B” is but I hope you don’t have to go there. When I had my shockwave treatments on my foot, it didn’t heal it right away. It still took a little time, so hopefully your hamstring is very busy healing itself right now.
Yes, I think you’re stuck with the hotel YOU RECOMMENDED to your colleagues… but hopefully you won’t be stuck in the tiny gym every day.
I say, February is the new January. Cut yourself some slack and get back on the yoga train next month!
OK, Ok, I won’t ditch them!
Plan B is a PRP injection which she said would be more painful than shockwave. :-O
Yes I hope you get out to Central Park at least once. Where do you stay? I pick my own hotel but it has to be approved by NYS $. Lately and for the rest of the year, it’s Crown Plaza on 36th/8th.
I’ll be there in March, April, June & July… NOT Feb.
I used to go to yoga weekly but my instructor left and I didn’t like the new one. Then I got a new job not nearby… so no yoga for me. Not a fan of online trainings.
I stay just below Grand Central Station. Probably just getting to Central Park from there and back is as far as I should go these days.
I am sure you will be able to venture out into NYC for some runs. You can also hit up a yoga class there or try to get into Peloton. Back in the day, meaning before Peloton, I used to love going to NYC and taking Soul Cycle classes!
My schedule doesn’t work for Peloton or another studio, but I’d love to go there for that reason some day!
I’m not a sports rehab professional, but I’d bet your hammy is healing (though it’s just not obvious yet). You’ve been diligent with the treatments & not over stressing your fitness, so hopefully you’ll be seeing/feeling the results soon. That’s funny about the temptation to switch hotels, LOL.
I’m shameless — but I didn’t do it!
I runfess that I started feeling my hamstring a few weeks ago. I was panic struck because I remembered your issues.
I went to the chiropractor this week and I had two shockwave sessions. It’s quite amazing how effective that was, maybe because I caught it at an early stage.
However, I don’t want to talk to soon… let’s see how I feel after tomorrow’s long run!
I hope you can get outdoors in New York!!
Oh, it’s great that your chiro does shockwave! I wish I’d found my current ortho months ago.
I can understand the lack of motivation for that 4:40 alarm!
I really hope your hamstring responds. What is your plan B?
Plan B would be a PRP injection, but I’m hoping to avoid it!
I know you have to be so frustrated with your hamstring! I really hope you can get out and run some while you are in NY!
It’s one of my favorite places to run!
Hopefully, your hammie is busy healing behind the scenes! I hope you can get out for a run while in NYC, but if you can’t, would a walk be acceptable?
Probably workout-wise I’d rather use the hotel gym than go for a walk outside. Also, illogically, I feel safer running at dark o’clock than walking ….
Yeah, I’m really not sure that you can ditch the others at this point. 🙁 I hope you aren’t confined to the gym!
I have days when I don’t want to deal with logisitcs either. Totally understand that.
I really hope your patience with your hamstring pays off. You deserve a win on that.
While I hope you can get outside, I may be able to get you a guest pass to my gym. There’s a location not too far.
I feel you on the bag. It’s one thing to pack one to go after work, but another to pack underwear and shower shoes and…
Oh, thanks. I think the hotel gym is adequate. I’ll let you know!
