A Week Of Milestones

  • Some weeks are uneventful, and others have all the things. Last week was a week of milestones, starting with our 35th wedding anniversary!

Anniversary kiss + ride

A Week Of Milestones

Our anniversary was on Sunday. As promised, we started the day with a bike ride in our lederhosen kits. We were lucky to run into Deborah on the bike path, and she was willing to take a break in her run to take some photos for us. ❤️

In comparison to 35 years of marriage, reaching 20,000 minutes of Peloton classes is not as important a milestone, but at least it is one fitness goal of 2023 I can check off. Finishing the year healthy is another goal I am still working on ….

Weekly Run Down

My hamstring gave me a scare this week. I blamed the treadmill run I did last Saturday where I played with incline a bit too much, so I avoided running until Thursday. My PT told me that as long as the pain stayed at level 3, she doesn’t mind me pushing through. Still, I don’t want to jeopardize the progress I’ve made so far. My patience paid off, as I was able to go for a run in Boston without it flaring up afterwards.

I also started the Coretober challenge in my Peloton Breakthrough Crew Facebook group. I  usually core everyday, but this challenge motivates me to take a different variety of classes.

Sunday: Core + PT exercises + 31 mile ride
It was great weather for a ride. We did our usual 30 mile route on the bike path, veering off course in Shirlington to stop at the newly opened Astro Beer Hall.

Another great photo from Deborah

Monday: PT exercises + Core/Boxing Bootcamp + UB Strength
I am not a fan of the boxing classes, but this bootcamp wasn’t too bad. Did I keep up with Selena’s moves? No. Did I get in a good arms and core workout anyway? Yes.

Tuesday: PT Exercises + Core + Upper Body + 30 min Peloton Rides
I was worried that even yoga could tax my hamstring, so I headed to my office gym. I really liked this upper body class with Rebecca.

Wednesday: Core + Upper Body Strength + 35 min Peloton Ride
I did my PT exercises at home, and then headed to my office gym. I ended up stacking a few short rides because I had time for “one more.”

Thursday: PT  + Core + 3.0 Tread miles + 10 min UB Strength
My PT suggested I do run + walk intervals, and I found an old Chase Tucker class with a good format. I was surprised to earn the 20K minute badge with that class. Taking walking classes when I walk Scooby and (recently) do my PT exercises added up!
I was pleased that my hamstring didn’t seem to mind my treadmill workout. It actually felt better than it had on Wednesday. 🤞

Friday: Core +PT exercises + 4.75 mile Run
I had a very quick trip to Boston—barely on the ground for 30 hours—but enough time for a run. I was staying in a different part of town than usual, but plotted a route from my hotel in the Seaport area to Pleasure Bay.

I’m glad I ventured out from my hotel, even though I had to run through a somewhat industrial area to get to the park. I’m even gladder that my hamstring did great and didn’t complain at all afterwards! 😀

Saturday: PT  exercises + 15 min Core + 20 min Peloton Ride
I didn’t get home until midnight, but I dragged myself out of bed @ 6:30 to take Scooby out before the rain rolled in. I didn’t realize I was taking my 450th Peloton ride when I started this class with Jess King, but it was a good one.

A huge thank you to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up.

Do you have any fitness goals for the last quarter of 2023?

Happy anniversary. And congrats on your fitness milestone. That is amazing.

Glad to hear your hammy pain was short lived and you could run in Boston. It’s so fun to run in different places.

Happy anniversary to your and your husband! Love your bike kits!

Congrats on 20,000 minutes of Peloton fun and taking your 450th Peloton ride!

  3. Happy Anniversary! Love your photo. Glad your PT is still ok with you running (and the hamstring is cooperateing).

Bandit’s walk was rained out yesterday. I ran, so he hasn’t been walked yet, and he’s really antsy. So why does he get so balky other times? One of life’s little mysteries, I guess.

  4. Jenny says:

Wow, you did have a lot of milestones this week! That’s so funny you ran into Deborah! Did she recognize you guys from afar because of your outfits?
I’m so glad your hamstring felt good for your Boston run! The whole point of all this fitness is to be able to have adventures like that, and you accomplished it.

  5. Nice week, Coco! Lots of great milestones 😉 Happy Anniversary to you and the hubby!!
