Pumpkin Spice Coffee Date

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that while I do like pumpkin spice lattes, I don’t like rushing the seasons. When Starbucks kicked of PSL season in August, I vowed to wait until October—the official start of pumpkin season.

But when Starbucks tempted with me with bonus stars if I purchased a PSL in mid-September, I caved.

Speaking of Starbucks, this is the arrangement I’ve made with the baristas at my office Starbucks. I order my Americano black, and then get a bit of half-and-half on the side.

A girl just wants the right amount of half-and-half in her coffee!

If we were having coffee, I would show you a picture of the great view I had from my hotel room in Boston last month.

I’m not sure its the worst hotel room view I’ve had, but the contrast with my view in June (below) had me laughing.

I’ve got another great view from a different part of Boston today—too bad I’m barely here for 24 hours and checking out before breakfast.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you I had a quick trip to NYC last week, and managed to squeeze in a lovely dinner with Cari, even though we had to dodge lake-sized puddles to get in the door. (It was nothing like the serious flooding that occurred later in the week.)

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I don’t run in the rain, unless I only have one morning in NYC and it’s raining. It wasn’t pouring when I started out, but I did get thoroughly soaked. My hat helped some, but I don’t think my jacket did any good—my shirt was still soaked.

I loved this sculpture by my hotel.

  1. That’s quite a contrast in your “views from a room,” ha ha! Regarding rain…I don’t mind running in it if it starts raining while I’m already out in my running shoes (and the temps are warm and the rain not heavy). I seldom ever will force myself to run in it, though, if it’s pre-existing before I’ve gotten my gear on.

  2. Marcia says:

I’ll get one PSL every season just for fun but I get half or less of the pumps of sweetener and it’s plenty good. I totally agree with you that there’s no need to rush the seasons that way. How fun to see Cari!

  3. Oh no on that view from the hotel — I don’t think I’ve ever had that bad a view! I swear 24 hour business trips are the worst.

Luckily I didn’t have to deal with flooding like that on the way to my mom, but it was a tough drive out! This has been our reality for MONTHS. Can we send the rain somewhere else?

We were “lucky” on our vacation. Except of course it wasn’t luck. 🙂

  4. Michelle says:

I’m like Marcia – just one PSL a season (if at all!) I noticed that both Starbucks and Dunkin’ were promoting in August. I’ve never been a fan of the way retail rushes the seasons and I swear it gets earlier and earlier every year!

Fun that you & Cari caught up! As long as it is not a downpour or too cold, I don’t mind a rainy run.

  5. Deborah Brooks says:

Glad you got to meet up with Cari-she is the official NYC hostess’s ! PSL is just so sweet this girl is not a fan.
Sounds like you are traveling a lot for work

  6. Darlene S Cardillo says:

    Where was your hotel?

My hotel view in NYC is usually lousy but at least there’s a lot to see and do in the city. Always a fun time with Cari… we just missed each other. I had rain too!!!

Yes to pumpkin spice but not until fall and peppermint mocha in winter.

  7. Jenny says:

Glad to see you’re embracing the season! For all my ranting and raving about pumpkin time, I actually never drink the PSLs from Starbucks. I just make my pumpkin items at home.
When I took my mini-road trip over the summer, the view from my hotel room was a construction zone. THAT was nice.
    Enjoy your time in Boston!

  8. Debbie says:

Those whirlwind business trips must be exhausting, but seeing Cari while in NYC would make it much more fun!

Since I don’t like coffee, I’m never tempted to buy a PSL in August or during pumpkin season. 😉

    • Coco says:

I’m not sure how much coffee flavor comes through in a PSL anyway, but I get it. Chai seems like the closest tea alternative.

  9. Unpopular opinion – I hate PSL! I like pumpkin and pumpkin spice but not in my coffee!

I also like running in the rain and that art on Park Ave!

  10. Catrina says:

It’s amazing how much you get done despite all the travelling!
The Pumpkin Spice Latte is waaay too sweet for me. But I love the smell! 😀
I run in the rain, but I hate getting rain drops on my glasses!

  11. Farrah says:

hehe, mid-September is close enough to October! 😛

That view from your hotel in Boston is…something, hahaha. I’m glad you had fun in New York though!

  12. Jenn says:

I don’t like pumpkin spice lattes at all. However, when peppermint mocha comes into season, watch out. I’m first in line.

  13. Fun that you got to see Cari! I like pumpkin spice but August is too soon for it.
