Awesome April Runfessions

It’s the last Friday of April, and since I didn’t get my ish together make it to the runfessional in April, I have a lot to runfess for Marcia’s link-up. Don’t miss your chance to cleanse your souls soles and get a fresh start for May.

You also may be joining the Fit Five Friday Link-Up with DarleneMichelle, Renée, Jenn, and Zenaida.

Awesome April Runfessions

I runfess  my running in April was not awesome. I had an awesome start with the Cherry Blossom Ten Mile run and meet-up with Deborah, Deb, Kim, and Cariane, but somewhere along the way my left ITB started getting cranky so I had to back off from running. I runfess that didn’t stop me from doing the Parkway Classic, but I’m not going to lie, going into race weekend I wouldn’t have minded if it was rained out or if my Mom needed me to stay with her that morning.

I runfess it’s been so long since I’ve done an ice bath I had to look up an old blog post to find out how much ice to buy. (I really think they help my legs feel fresh the next day.)

I runfess as much as I say I’m really good about doing a pre-run warm-up I broke all the rules to take a live 6 am Peloton tread class. My plan was get get up 5, take Scooby out for a quick walk, and squeeze in a 10 min barre class before hopping on my tread. That all went to heck when I hit the snooze button until 5:36. I momentarily thought about switching to a plan B, but then decided to take the class as an outdoor run with Scooby. I got dressed, did a minimal warm-up in my kitchen, and was out the door with Scooby at 5:55 am.

I runfess I love classic rock running playlsits

I runfess that I am even less excited about doing the Lawyers Have Heart race in May than I usually am. As much as I complained about the course, you would think I would be excited about the new venue, and I was—until I saw it includes Hains Point.

Actually, this could be a great course. It’s the opposite of most races which have you running counter-clockwise around the point. I don’t know if I’ve ever run it in this direction—even on my own! There will be one cruel overpass-type hill right before the finish, but it is very short. No matter what I think about the course, I will always support the mission of the American Heart Association. If you want to support my fundraising efforts you can make a donation here. Thank you!

I runfess, when I saw this Facebook ad I thought it was a tongue-in-cheek add for a pocket with a toilet paper dispenser. Apparently it’s a loop you can stash your shirt in.

Tell me I not the only one!

What are your April runfessions?

I kind of like the toilet paper concept! Haha! I haven’t done an ice bath in ages either. Have fun with the race!

  2. Michelle says:

Oh yeah that photo definitely says toilet paper to me LOL.

I can’t remember the last time I made it to a live class. I love Matt’s rock runs so I’ll be sure to bookmark that one.

    Hope your ITB calms down.

  3. What will they think of next? I runfess I’ve never taken an ice bath.

My warmups are relatively brief, but something’s always better than nothing, right?

  4. Wow I have never done an ice bath and I don’t think I ever will. I hate cold water. Now a nice jacuzzi sounds really good!

  5. Jenny says:

Hahahaha! You know, I could have used those shorts with a toilet paper dispenser on my race last weekend.. just sayin.
So you think the ice bath helps? I have to “runfess” that after my race, I came home and took a hot bath. I know cold would have been better, but it just felt sooooooo good. But I wonder if I would have been less sore the next day had I taken an ice bath? One of these times I’ll try it.

As a Floridian, I would think you’d be a pro at ice baths! I think they help, but I know the science is ambivalent.

  6. A shirt gets stuffed in there? That seems really bulky! Hains Point must really be an iconic “must include” in DC races, huh!

  7. Darlene S Cardillo says:

I’m with you on rushing out the door. There’s never enough time.

Nope not brave enough for an ice bath… glad it worked.

I don’t think having my shirt hang off my butt would be comfortable.

  8. Wendy says:

I could get on board with stashing toilet paper in that pocket, but I am NOT removing my shirt. No one needs to see that. I’m working on promoting healthy images of aging, lol

  9. Jenn says:

That FB ad is hilarious! I get some doozies from time to time.

I hope the course ends up being great!
