Overdue April Runfessions

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve made it to Marcia’s runfessional, but not because I’ve been saintly. As you will see, I am in dire need of cleansing my souls soles before we head into May!

Overdue April Runfessions

I runfess that my AirPods case was long overdue for a cleaning. When I finally remembered to take the AirPods out and clean the case with a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol, I noticed a build up of ear wax on the AirPods themselves. I was so grossed out!

AirPods

Have you cleaned out these ends before?

I runfess, I had noticed the sound was muffled, but it never crossed my mind this could be why. Ick! 🤢

Now that I’ve shared that, I might as well runfess that I wore the same workout outfits twice on my trip to California.

Did anyone notice I wore the same top,
or did the Prisma filter hide this sin?

I can’t even say they weren’t sweaty—I hung them up to dry between workouts. 😝

I runfess that even though my foot is not better, I couldn’t resist running in NYC and Chicago this week.

To the extent a runfession should be accompanied by remorse and repentance, this one won’t count, because I would do it all over again—those sunrises were worth it! I runfess I’m not sure what I’ll do now. My foot is improving enough that I don’t think I need to go back to the podiatrist, but it’s lingering enough that I probably should at least cut back my running.

Deborah and I will be hosting the May Ultimate Coffee Date next weekend. We’ll open the (link-up) doors Friday, May 6th!

Do you have workout gear overdue for a cleaning?

When I used to run with my iPod headphones, that gross wax build up would happen Gack! With the TrexAir, they sit in front of my ears so no waxy build-up, lol.

I am glad to hear your foot is better. I sure get that desire to run even when it’s not a good idea…

    Ickyick, Coco! But also hilarious!!
I never clean my running shoes. That works well in South Africa with the dry ground, but not so well in Switzerland.

I used to handwash my shirts in the hotelroom with shampoo. But sometimes the shirt wouldn’t dry in time. I would have been better off using your method!

    • Coco says:

I thought about washing my top, but then worried about it not drying. We are not a take-off-your-shoes-inside household, but I have shoes I only wear in my “gym” so I’m not doing planks on a dirty floor. 😉

  3. Darlene says:

    I wear yantrax. I don’t clean them.

I wear the same outfit when I workout. That’s because I rarely sweat.

How could you not run in Central Park. Glad you enjoyed your time there.

Hope the foot continues to improve.

Ha, you’ve got some good ones this month, Coco! I’m having a flashback to your runfessions about not cleaning your water bottle (that was you, wasn’t it?) Anyway… i hear you on the foot-fession! I’ve got a few of my own this month, Sometimes you just have to run, right?

  5. deborahbrooks14 says:

My air pods definitely need cleaning! I don’t use them for running bc they fall out but they do get gross. Glad your foot is starting to feel better and yes, I probably would have run anyway in NYC as well.
    What is wrong with us?!

  6. Marcia says:

I did not notice you wore something a second time and I runfess I’d probably do the same. I’m glad Chicago could at least offer you a pretty sunrise. Our weather certainly leaves much to be desired!

  7. Oh, that’s a great tip about filtering a pic to disguise double-wearing an outfit! I don’t use my ear buds much (usually just on those treadmill power walks with Tunde), but I’ve never looked too closely at them. Now I’m afraid to!

  8. What gorgeous sunrises over the skylines! I will usually try to pack minimal running clothes when traveling. It’s hard, though, cause I usually run commando . . .

I keep saying I need to clean my airpods — but I haven’t done it. No ear wax, but I definitely know they still need some cleaning!

  9. Renée says:

gross air pods!! I only use shokz now, but apple ipods never actually stayed in my ear anyway so I never used them. I would have to runfess that I don’t clean my watch strap nearly often enough and then end up with a rash on my wrist like 2x a month!

I will wear the same sports clothes if traveling. I try to just dry them somehow and hope for the best. unless I’m really away for a while this is good enough for me. of course my undergarments are clean so I see nothing wrong with a top or shorts used twice!

I would have run in Chicago and NYC too!! But Im sorry your foot is not ok 🙁

  10. I once cleaned my pods and they were pretty grossed too. I also used a toothpick to do a deep cleaning. They weren’t as clean as when I bought them but better than before. 🙂

  11. Ah the benefits of a Prisma filter lol 😉

I don’t blame you I would have run in Chicago and NYC too!

Sorry your foot is so frustrating – your foot sounds like my hip flexor…sigh.

  12. Cari says:

Part of the reason I love Aftershokz is I don’t have to deal with the ick factor of in-ear buds. And yes, I runfess to re-wearing things. Sometimes it’s just a necessity

  13. Denise says:

I just cleaned my Garmin (white band), it was pretty gross, which made me think about how I never cleaned my old Garmin (black band) and how gross it must have been.
Now I need to check my ear buds. You have some true runfessions this month. Hahaha.

  14. runswithpugs says:

LOL! I got my kiddo an Airpod cleaning kit from the Target dollar spot a while back. He cleans those things religiously.
