I know it’s a little late to be planning my Thanksgiving menu, but Thanksgiving always seems to sneak up on me. I think it’s because both my daughter and I have November birthdays–I can only plan one celebration at a time!
My Mom still does the hard stuff–preparing the turkey that we will cook on our charcoal grill, making cornbread stuffing, and making the cranberry relish that I love so much. I am responsible for the other side dishes and the pies. So, here’s what I have so far for my Thanksgiving menu ideas.
I like to nibble on raw veggies while I cook, because it staves off my hunger without ruining my appetite. For family gatherings, I put out a veggie tray with a dip made with plain Chobani® and dry ranch dressing mix.
For our main “salad” I will be making my raw Brussels sprouts salad. This is much easier to make now that I have a Cuisine Art, and I’ve even seen pre-shredded Brussels sprouts at the grocery store that would make it a cinch.

Of course, I will be making mashed potatoes–another Chobani® recipe.

I probably also will make mashed sweet potatoes, although my kids don’t like them as much as they used to. Of course, we will have bread (crescent rolls for my son, dinner rolls for everyone else) and gravy (another traditional “must have” that we probably wouldn’t miss!).
I’ve made the same pumpkin pie recipe year in and year out–it calls for sweetened condensed milk instead of evaporated milk and sugar. Although I’d like to try something new, with so much family coming I don’t think this Thanksgiving is the best time to mess with tradition!
The first year my daughter made this Blue Ribbon Apple Pie it became a holiday tradition. It is so delicious–the secret must be in the blend of four different types of apples–and the lattice crust.
I think my sister-in-law will bring her pecan pie, just to make sure no one escapes the dinner table without eating too much!
Is there anything I’m missing from my Thanksgiving menu?
Are you ready for Thanksgiving?
Im so so so so not.
it’s at my sisters.
whole foods is catering 🙂
IM TERRIFIED about going back to austin.
I’d love to do a meal at Whole Foods. My family would miss their processed white carbs!
Oooh, the Brussels Sprouts salad looks goooood! Lol, my kids don’t love sweet potatoes as much either, so I’ll do some plain potato wedges for them
It’s funny, my kids don’t like potatoes much at all but they do like mashed potatoes.
That all looks so yummy! We are having a very non traditional Thanksgiving on Thursday and then a Thanksgivingukkah dinner on Friday. I’m making a turkey for Friday.
I never thought of putting cranberry relish on yogurt. What a great idea!
Mmm. I love cranberry relish on so many things, but yogurt is a favorite!
Lots of bdays here too!!!! 🙂
We are going to be just me & hubby this year so I will probably eat like I normally do.. 🙂
I’ll send you some pie! 😉
Please send me the pies and nobody gets hurt. Yes, that’s a threat and I expect you to comply. If you fight back by throwing the mashed potatoes at me, I’ll shall catch them in mid-air with my mouth, and then you’ll STILL owe me the pies. End of story.
You don’t want the carrot sticks? You come by, you can have lots of pie!
All of your recipes look good!! My brother and his family are coming up (10ish hours) and I’m doing all the cooking – I think I finally have my menu set and will hit up the grocery store tomorrow afternoon (it shouldn’t be too busy, right?).
Hmmm. I wonder if it will be worse tomorrow than it was this weekend? I think tomorrow should be pretty good actually. Now Wednesday is when the last-minute panic will set in!
Your brussels sprouts salad looks delicious!! I’m so not ready for Thanksgiving.
Oops- thought I popped over to comment before, but thanks for linking up! Your menu looks amazing… I really want to try the raw brussel sprouts salad. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
