November Five By The Fifth Virtual Race Recap
Thanks again to Laura for hosting the Fall 5 and 10 Virtual Race series!
Who would have guessed that I would be running my November miles in a t-shirt and shorts? But it was in the 70s the day before, and in the upper 50s when I headed out for my o’dark-thirty run.
Winter is coming, though. They started installing the ice skating rink at Washington Harbor and plan to have it open by Thanksgiving weekend. This year I have to go skating more than once!
My friend and I headed out for a 7-ish mile run up along the National Mall and up to the Captiol. (We did not run up Capitol Hill this time!) They are almost finished repairing the Washington Monument from the earthquake damage, so I stopped to take one more picture of it all decked out in scaffolding.
I also thought the entrance to the Air and Space museum looked pretty cool in the dark.
I felt pretty accomplished for finishing a 7+ mile run by 7:15 on a Saturday morning, but my friend was off to coach her kids’ soccer games, while I was heading home to enjoy a leisurely morning sipping coffee and catching up on Facebook!
Is there winter weather where you are yet?
Do you want to come ice skating with me?
no real winter weather here in st louis, just COLD weather!!!!! i’m not ready for winter!!
Love the Washington Monument picture!!! And I can’t wait for the day where I can have a long Saturday run and then lay on the couch for a good stretch of time. Jealous on both counts.
I really try to block off some free time on the weekend to recharge.
I love your pictures from the run in the dark! We have had lots of rain this fall – the damp makes it seem colder than it really is but I will take rain over snow any day!!
I hope we get some snow this year, as long as I don’t have to drive in it – I want a snow day!
Awesome pics! Winter is definitely starting here – the windchill made it feel like 0C yesterday 🙁 I’m actually ok with the cool weather – I’d much rather run through the pretty snow than in a blistering hot July day. Have a great week!
Oh, that’s cold already!
Nice work on your run! This week it definitely switched over to winter running. I was bundled up spectating NYC and still cold!
Winter? It’s def. colder, but SF is always cold, so not much of a shift there.
I love running at night, you just have to be safe about it.
Awesome! I run in DC in the dark too, and will actually miss the current look of the Washington Monument. I never thought I’d say that…
