Love Thy Neighbor, Know They Neighbor, See Thy Neighbor

It’s been a while since I’ve addressed social issues head-on here, but the latest incident of horrific police brutality to make national headlines is weighing heavy on my heart.

I believe this qualifier is important: the latest … to make national headlines. It would be naive to believe that every act of police brutality gets captured on video and make the evening news. And that weighs even heavier on my heart.

Running Out Of January

I can’t top last week’s runrise photos, but I did catch a pretty sunrise behind the Masonic Temple on my run with Scooby. I only get a few glimpses of it on my route, but it’s a nice reward for reaching the top of  my neighborhood hills.

Fun Fact: I’m A Runrise Runner

I’m speaking at a conference next week, and the moderator asked for a “fun fact” and associated photo she can include in her introductions. Since this legal conference actually has a fitness focus, I decided to go with “Courtenay is an avid runner and especially likes to chase after sunrise pictures.” I gave her a copy of the photo I think was worth the price of my fractured rib and lived up to my self-professed passion this weekend.
