Marking My Three Year Peloversary

I knew it was coming, but I was still caught by surprise when the 3 year streak badge popped up on my workout summary on Monday. There was so much I didn’t know when I opted into the 90 day free trial just before the world shut down, least of which is that I would be marking my three year Peloversary 156 weeks later.

I also earned the silver level in the March strength challenge.

Marking My Three Year Peloversary

It was fitting that I marked my three year Peloversary with a core class. It was the strength classes that lured me in to the Peloton app, and it wasn’t long after I signed up that I started Emma’s Crush Your Core program that kicked off my daily core practice.

It is also fitting that one the eve of my Peloversary I found these 30 lb weights at TJ Maxx for $29.99 each. I wasn’t quite in the market for 30 lb weights, but couldn’t resist the price—Amazon brand 30 lb weights are $55 each, and this set of Peloton weights would be $155 on Amazon. It was a challenge carrying them to the register and then out to my car, but I managed.

Weekly Run Down

This week’s workout routine was impacted by 8:00 am conference calls and a local conference I attended Thursday and Friday. I had to leave the house before 7:30 am to get there on time. I planned my workouts around Saturday’s 10 mile training run, and took it easy on my legs Thursday and Friday. Earlier in the week I made outdoor runs a priority to enjoy the early daylight before the change to DST took that away from me. I sort of gave up on JJ’s 3-day split training program, but will keep doing the “push” workout until I can complete all the sets.

Sunday: Core + 30 min Upper Body Legs + 20 min Peloton Ride
It’s the skull crushers of the push workout that really do me in—those and the push-ups. I used a trick I’ve seen for people mastering push-up and put a light fitness band around my arms (just above my elbows) for a bit of support/guidance during the skull crushers and it really made a difference.

Monday:  Core + 5.45 Scooby Miles
Temperatures plummeted but the wind died down, so I enjoyed this run.

Tuesday: Corepower Yoga
It is always good to be back on the mat. Since the last time, they added tape markers on the floor to guide mat placement. Since this class wasn’t 100% full people could be spread out a bit more, but I think they will be helpful.

Wednesday: Core + 20 min G&L + 30 min Peloton Ride
Office gym day, with an early start to fit it all in before my 8:00 am conference call. I made it to my desk at 7:50, Starbucks in hand!

I did the walk at home with Scooby before heading to the gym.

Thursday: Core + 4.8 Scooby Miles
Instead of doing the progressive run of the Matt Wilpers training program, I took Scooby out for a run to enjoy the early daylight before we change our clocks. It was still nippy, but not quite as cold as Monday.

Friday: Core + 20 min A&S + Flash 15
It’s amazing what I can fit in before 7:30 if I don’t hit the snooze button! This stack covered all the bases.

Saturday: 10.25 mile run
First 10 mile run of my spring training! I almost bumped it to Sunday because of the gale warning, but figured the trees of the Mt. Vernon Trail would offer some protection, and I had to be ready in case the weather is windy on race day—like it was in 2018. I took Scooby for a walk, and then drove to the park. It was grey and windy from time to time, but not bad overall.

The run went well, but my left ITB felt tight. When I got home I treated it to lots of stretching and a long Theragun session, but will have to keep an eye on it.

A huge thank you to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up.

Congrats on the 10 miler. Hope you have no residual pain.

    30 lbs? wow. I have 4lbs. Lol.

    Congrats on your anniversary!

  2. Wendy says:

Nice work on that 10 mile run! My favorite distance. And I’m jealous that you found those 30# DBs at TJMaxx. I’m going to have to go there to see what they have! Congrats on 3 years with Peloton!

  3. I need to get a pair of 30# weights too and I did see them on amazon and thought they were expensive. I will look around those are a bargain for sure. I remember urging you to try Peloton 3 years ago! Aren’t you glad you did?
Nice job on your 10 miler. Feels like I always start to feel little niggles when I do double digit runs on the regular. The wind this week!

  4. Marcia says:

Congrats on 3 years with Peloton! Time does fly. I’m smiling at the image in my mind of you dragging those weights home. Great score for sure!
When we built our home gym (22 yrs ago!) everything was delivered. I’m not sure what will happen if we move.

    • Coco says:

Our previous home had a walk-out basement, so it wasn’t horrible. In this one getting the tread and elliptical up the basement stairs will be a challenge!

  5. Jenny says:

Well, you really joined Peloton at the right time! Congrats on your streak, and also on finding those weights for that price. I”ll bet there are some things you can start using them for right now (deadlifts?) And nice job on the ten mile run! That is a really nice distance.

    • Coco says:

Right now I can use one for goblet squats, and in theory French press, but I struggle getting it over my head that first time!

  6. Debbie says:

Good job on your 10-mile run. I heard it was blustery there yesterday, especially for my gravel cycling friends.

Congrats on your 3-year peloversary! And well-done on the dumbbell bargain! I remember in the good ole days (~20 years ago) when you’d expect to pay a dollar a pound for dumbbells, but not any more!

    • Coco says:

It’s much easier to hide from the wind on a run than on a bike.

Since covid I’ve heard the rule of thumb is $2/lb, but I struggle to pay that much!

  7. Jessie says:

Way to go on the 10 mile and happy peloversary! 3 years. Time flies.

What a steal on those weights!

You fit in a lot on top of busy work stuff.

  8. Nice 10-miler!! My 8-miler (yesterday) went much better than anticipated. I might try for a 9-miler next weekend (or on the 25th), but I think I’m in a good place regardless for Cherry Blossom. That IS a bargain for those weights!

  9. I have actually been making an effort not to dawdle too much most mornings when I run. Mostly I’m successful. Luckily I don’t have to be at work at 8!

Great job getting in your 10 miler! Hopefully the IT Band calms down. It’s not joke. My worst injury ever!

  10. Michelle says:

Great job on your 10 miler – I hope your ITB quiets down. I’ve never heard of that trick with the fitness band for skull crushers – I’m going to give it a try.

That was a great find at TJ Maxx – I haven’t checked there in a while. The weights online are pricey!

    Congrats on your Peloversary 🙂

  11. Catrina says:

Nice job on the 10-miler, Coco!
So Scooby doesn’t do the long runs with you?

I’ll have to try that with the bands around the arms for the skull crushers. I can imagine that it would be good support! Thanks for the tip!

    • Coco says:

Scooby’s good for 8 miles. With my 9 last week he was flagging at the end, so I decided to do the 10 on my own. I have to get used to running without him too. 😉

  12. Jenn says:

    Have a happy Peloversary!

Great deal on the weights! They are always so expensive. I actually need to buy some more and never though to check TJ Maxx.

    Hi, Sweet Scooby!

  13. Good for you getting to your desk early (that’s really early to me!!). Very cool you scored that deal on the weights too. Happy 3 yr anniversary with Peloton!

  14. Wow!! Congrats on the anniversary – 3 years is amazing!! Nice job with the 10 miler!

  15. Kim G says:

Happy Peloversary! Love that you were able to get a set of Peloton weights at TJMAXX! I got mine off of eBay a while back because they were half off. I have no clue why they were that cheap but I don’t ask any questions lol.
