Celebrating The First Days Of Spring

Our weather was wild again last week,  but this weekend was perfect for celebrating the first days of spring, with sunshine and temperatures reaching 80F later today!

My neighbor’s garage decoration has themes for year-round holidays—
I wonder what will come next?

Celebrating The First Days Of Spring

The week started with another round of weather whiplash, but made it up to us with warm sunshine Friday afternoon that seemed to draw everyone outside.

Sunday we had a special church service at 10 am so I had time for a full workout before church. I love Jess’s 45 min strength classes, but this one left me with DOMS for days. I had to reschedule the upper body class I planned to take Tuesday—I’ll get to it this week.

Monday I was caught by scattered showers a few times, but it was so warm I tied my jacket around my waist between downpours and was comfortable in my tank top.

Monday afternoon schools and work closed early for tornado warnings, but luckily the worst of the weather didn’t materialize. Monday night a strong storm came through that had Scooby worried, but the howling winds didn’t do any damage.

Scooby staring intently out the window to keep an eye on the storm.

Tuesday (St. Paddy’s Day) morning was brisk and breezy on my walk with Scooby. Since my arms were still sore I opted for a lower body strength workout before a short Peloton ride.

Wednesday I had to go into the office before heading to a conference in D.C. and opted for a treadmill run to start my long day. I spoke on a panel at 3:30 pm and was “networking” until 10.

Thursday I went to the Equinox gym attached to my hotel for a short workout. It’s big and fancy and too much for me—I don’t care for bright lights and loud music at what should be dark o’clock in the morning!

Friday I wasn’t excited about going to the gym again and was glad to see the outdoor running gear I’d packed was just right for the weather (low 40s). I followed main roads to the Mall and ran to The Capitol.

View of the Washington Monument from the other side of the pool.

You can barley see the Lincoln Memorial behind it.

Saturday I was back home for a first-full-day-of-spring run with Scooby. After wearing long-sleeves, running tights and gloves Friday, it was crazy that a t-shirt and shorts were the right choices Saturday morning.

Scooby’s happy for nice weather!

A huge thank you to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up.

This wraps up my travel schedule for March—it will be nice to be home for some spring running!

Welcome home! I bet Scooby was happy to have you for a nice workout. Looks like you were still able to get in some good workouts while traveling for work. Hope you can enjoy some spring running at home now that you’re back!

That strength workout on Sunday must have been quite something to leave you sore like that. I remember Jess Sims from my Peloton days- she’s tough.
I love all the photos of Scooby, especially the one of him looking out the window at the storm.
You guys are having an interesting spring up there! Florida weather is boring by comparison. Hope your warm weather continues!

  3. My son’s girlfriend gos to the equinox gym and loves all the variety and classes there. It is always fun to work out in a new place especially when it is well equipped. It was a crazy weather week here! Enjoy the gorgeous day today

That conference day sounds like a marathon in disguise… treadmill run, full workday, then networking till 10pm? That’s a long stretch to stay “on”! 😅

Also, that Equinox gym… uff. Bright lights and loud music in the early morning isn’t exactly my thing, either.

I’m sure Scooby loved all of those outdoor runs with you! He’s a lucky guy!

I would not care for the bright lights and loud music at zero-dark-thirty in the Equinox gym either.

  6. Ooh, I should checkout that strength class! I seldom have time for more than 10-20 minutes in the morning (usually following a ride, walk, or elliptical) before heading to work, so I’ll have to do it some evening. I love all your DC pics!

  7. So fun that you get to run around DC and see all of that stuff in the morning. Awww, Scooby looks so cute (and concerned) looking out the windows for the storm.

That strength workout sounds like it must have been quite intense! I don’t mind some DOMS but it’s annoying if it gets in the way for what you have planned.
I like big fancy gyms but not loud music early in the morning!
The weather seems crazy mixed over there for everyone!

  9. Wendy says:

I’m glad to hear you get a break from all the travel! I love your DC photos!

Sounds like everything went according to plan!

Your neighbor’s garage door is so cute!

And of course, i love to see Scooby out and about and on the move.
