It’s popular to complain about the switch to standard time, but “falling back” is my favorite time of year. I love the first week when I am ready to get up by the time my alarm goes off, and I love November sunrises—there’s a magical glow when the rosy sky illuminates orange-maroon leaves.
Falling Back Into My Favorite Time Of Year
Fall is also my favorite time of year because of the weather. It’s cool but not cold, so I can enjoy the brisk air without having to put on too many layers. Of course, I also love this time of year because my birthday is coming up this week, and my daughter’s is a few days later.
Speaking of birthdays, I got to celebrate with Deborah and Cari this week.
Can we do this every Friday?
My neighborhood is pretty in the spring, with pink cherry blossoms, and pink and white dogwoods in bloom, but the fall colors are stunning.
Scooby looks good with orange or red, don’t you think?
It’s just a great time of year to spend time outside!
Weekly Run Down
Despite the time change, most of my walks were before sunrise and all of my runs were on the treadmill. We did enjoy a lovely bike ride on Sunday in almost summer-like weather. I also met my NOminal goal for the Peloton Breakthrough Crew NOvember Challenge:
No pressure, no weights need (for some classes), no excuses!
Sunday: PT + 10 min Core + 20 min BW Strength + 30 mile Ride
I’m so glad I made a last-minute wardrobe change into short-sleeves. It was gorgeous!
Monday: PT + 5 min Core + 3.25 Tread Miles
I stuck to my 3/2 run/walk intervals for 3.25 miles on the tread. I stacked two rides celebrating the 5th anniversary of Peloton’s UK studio, including a fun Jon Hosking class with a Ska playlist.
Tuesday: 10 min Core + 20 mi UB Strength + 30 min Peloton Bike
I did my strength workouts at home, and then headed to my office gym to use the Peloton bike. I took Jess’s King’s Halloween ride, and the new Halloween Cool Down Lanebreak ride.
Wednesday: PT + 20 min BW Strength+ 3.25 Tread Miles
Andy’s bodyweight strength class seemed benign, but those split squats get me every time! My legs were so sore the next day, I dialed things way down to recover.
Thursday: PT + 5 min Core + 20 min UB Strength + 25 min Peloton ride
I gave my legs a break and opted for an upper body strength class and shorter Peloton ride—Sam Yo’s latest New Wave ride.
Friday: CorePower Yoga
A rare Friday yoga class because Ann had switched up her schedule this week. The peak pose was side crow, so the flow had lots of twisting to prepare. She also led us through fallen angel—which I can sort of do part way, but probably look more like crumpled angel. 😉
Saturday: PT + 10 min core + 20 min LB Strength + 4.0 Tread Miles
After catching a gorgeous sunrise with Scooby, I headed to my basement for my workout. It would have been great weather for running, but I was afraid I’d be cold during my walk breaks and cut them short. I just didn’t trust myself!
A huge thank you to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up.
I’m ready for my birthday, but haven’t started to plan for Thanksgiving—have you?
I’m also a fan of DST. It feels good to be back out in the light on my morning runs. That top photo in the post is just stunning!
Happy birthday Coco! Have a great week.
It’s probably my favorite tree in my neighborhood this time of year!
Good for you. Getting all your runs done. Hope things continue to improve.
As I’ve said before I’m not a fan if the cold and if someone will run with me I’ll do it. Otherwise I procrastinate and wait until dark.
Those pictures are gorgeous!! Especially the first and last one.
And of course the one with you three beautiful ladies, ha! So nice that you could meet up. You three will have a busy month!
Nice job on the run-walking, too. I’m sure that this will help you to get back to non-stop running soon.
I’m afraid I’m getting used to the walk breaks!
Good job on listening to your body and not risking skipping those walk breaks yesterday. Pretty sunrise, too!
Happy birthday month and how fun to celebrate with Deborah and Cari!
So fun to see you and Cari to celebrate our birthdays together. It is going to be a busy few weeks ahead. Glad you are back running pain free. It can be hard to follow the plan back but we have to trust the people we ask to help us get there. Have a great week!
Well, not pain-free yet (so frustrating), but not lingering pain.
Well, just found out we’d be here for Thanksgiving a couple of days ago.
I know I’ll be on the treadmill in Winter, so I’ve been avoiding it successfully so far but baby there’s been a few cold runs for sure! Overdressed, underdressed, sometimes getting it right.
All you November ladies together — how fun!
I really don’t dread my tread. Maybe I’ll get sick of it, but so far so good.
You captured some amazing pics this week! Most of our colors went brown (practically overnight) last week. It’s exciting to have so many birthdays this month…glad you got to celebrate with Cari and Deborah 😉
I went out for a bike ride last Sunday too. It was beautiful around here! Such pretty pictures this week with the fall colors. Glad you are getting out there for some runs. I hope it all goes well!
Wow. Your fall colors really are stunning. Sounds like you had a great week- how’s the hamstring feeling?
I hope you’re doing something fun to celebrate your birthday!
Its getting quieter but it hasn’t shut up altogether yet. 😉
Happy birthday! What a fun week celebrating!
That photo of Scooby with that gorgeous red tree is just perfect! I love it!
