Merry May Ultimate Coffee Date

If we were having coffee, I would offer you some Scooby Snacks. Yes, really!

Scooby snacks

I try not to buy too much junk food, but when I saw these you know I couldn’t resist. 🐾

If we were having coffee, I would give you an unofficial Starbucks update. During my April business trips I took advantage of the new ability to use the app to order ahead at airport Starbucks. Since I have TSA pre-check, the Starbucks line is usually the biggest delay I face getting to my gate, so I like this new option. ✈️ I also learned that Starbucks took fresh bananas off their menu. I understand why, but I miss that option for post-run refueling. 🍌 It seems like all the stores have taken down their plexiglass, but they haven’t put out the pitchers of milk and cream yet. 🥛

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that some of our offices have fantastic views. In NYC, even my client couldn’t resist taking a selfie with the Empire State Building in the background.

I also loved my view in Chicago, even on a grey day.

On the other hand, even with a corner office the Del Mar view left much to be desired.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you I completed my April puzzle in record time. It was “only” 500 pieces, but I still was surprised to finish it in a few days. I think the quadrants of colors made it easier to figure out which pieces went where.

  1. You definitely had some great views while on your trips! I had not realized the absence of plexiglass, but you’re correct. I don’t even remember when it started disappearing here. Funny how that was just the norm for so long.

  2. It’s funny I just noticed the lack of plexiglass at the Starbucks near my office.

Those are some great views – even on a grey day.

  3. Marcia says:

I did notice when plexiglass went away. But I runfess I was perturbed in Atlanta when I ordered a grande Pike with room and she left room despite there being no cream out. One would think she might have said something. Other than 4-5 days in Oregon when we take Maddie to Nike, there won’t be a summer vacay. But plans are in place for Australia/New Zealand over the holidays! Gorgeous views!

    • Coco says:

LOL, maybe she figured you would be adding your own from somewhere? They will give you a small cup with milk or cream if you ask for it.

  4. Wendy says:

I always want to get Starbucks at the airport but the line! is ridiculous. I think the order ahead option is great, tho. I always forget about it!

It’s amazing, all the traveling you’ve been doing! Apparently, we’re all getting caught up…

    • Coco says:

Airport Starbucks lines are the worst! At O’Hare I’ve learned to go to the smaller one further away from security for a (usually) shorter line.

  5. Step by step we’re getting back to normal! I’ve never had a Starbucks! It’s one of the franchises that hasn’t reached us yet. The first thing I’d try would bet their cappuccino – it’s my favourite drink. Love that you were able to work with some beautiful views – it makes such a difference!

    • Coco says:

Well, I’m sure you have good coffee there — and good cappuccinos. I rarely get their fancy drinks anymore.

  6. Well, I’ve planned a pre-Summer vacation. And then will plan a Summer vacation, as we have more states to explore. Dragging a grumbling husband along. And keeping the no flight streak alive, too.

Those views! Gorgeous! LOL about the client taking the selfie. Sad that you didn’t have a better view in Del Mar — since it’s such a beautiful area!

    • Coco says:

Yeah, the office parks in Del Mar are on the “other” side of the freeway from the beach, and it’s about a mile on pedestrian un-friendly roads to get there.

  7. jenny says:

Yes, those are amazing views! And I always appreciate a Starbucks update. i actually hadn’t noticed the absence of plexiglass… I’ll have to be more observant next time I go!
Our summer is looking complicated, due to the kids doing two different camps/summer festivals. Probably no big family vacation for us, but I’ll probably get out to Chicago to visit my sister for a few days at some point.

    • Coco says:

Oh, it would be fun if we ended up in Chicago at the same time. I’ll be going back mid-month in June for work.

  8. deborahbrooks14 says:

You do have some nice office views! Yes, we are making up for lost time this summer and have a ridiculous amount of travel planned this year. I am really excited! I will have a few coffee dates from afar! Happy Mother’s day

  9. Catrina says:

Those Scooby Snacks remind me of a coffee shop here in Cape Town that has a jar full of cookies for free.
Fortunately, before I went there a friend warned me that these cookies were for dogs, not for humans…

What happened to the bananas at Starbucks? Why are they not offering any anymore?

    • Coco says:

These are Scooby snacks for people, but a lot of coffee shops around here do offer biscuits for dogs.

The barista said they attracted fruit flies. Also, they would end up with overripe ones that nobody wanted.

  10. Darlene says:

Good to know about Starbucks and the airport. I’m flying on Monday… have to get my birthday free coffee.

Our starbucks took bananas off the menu a few years ago. I used to often get a chocolate banana smoothie but without bananas that left the menu as well.

Working from home = zero views. Yours were awesome in NYC and Chicago.

We spend time on our boat in the summer instead of a vacation. I am going to Florida next week, Plan a trip to RI and ME in the fall.

  11. Love the office views! Especially Chicago 🙂

I need to plan some more summer trips! Right now, I just have Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth in June.

  12. kookyrunner says:

That’s such a great option for Starbucks and I’m sure it makes your travel experience a little better and less stressful too.

    I love that puzzle!

  13. Denise says:

Those views are amazing! I rarely see the outside when I’m at work. The only time I go to Starbucks is when I’m at work and they still have the plexiglass up.

    • Coco says:

The one benefit of going tothe office is better views than I have in my basement — and easy access to Starbucks.

  14. Wow! That is a great office view! That order ahead option at Starbucks is great. As going through airports is half my job…haha. even Dunkin has that option now too!

  15. I need to get those snacks for my students. Sometimes I get popcorn or fruit snacks to reward them. Love the Chicago views! No Summer vacation yet but my sister wants me and my mom to go to Mexico. It is much easier for her to come here. We’ll see.

  16. runswithpugs says:

    I love your city views!

We haven’t planned a vacation yet. I’m anxious about it. On the one hand, we have the new puppy who is so tiny and still so needy. A is going to Scouts camp in NC, so we may drive him up there and then hang out to do our own thing nearby.

  17. Farrah says:

TSA precheck makes traveling so much better! That’s awesome that you can order ahead and skip the coffee line too now though!

Those are some great views! :]
