Mother’s Day With Scooby

Happy Mother’s Day! Thanks to Deborah and Kim for opening the Weekly Run Down link up early so I can get on with my Mother’s Day plans–going to the grocery store, doing laundry, paying bills …. 😉

Don’t worry, I also am planning a nice bike ride and visit with my Mom.

Mother’s Day With Scooby

Since many of you do have fun plans today, I’m going to keep this short. As a special treat for Jenn on her birthday, I’m going to share some recent photos of Scooby that make me smile.

I call this series “The Squirrel”:

This is “My Happy Boy”:

It’s also Darlene‘s birthday!

I hope you all have better plans than I do. 😀

Weekly Wrap

I’m going to try to keep my workout recap short too, but I have to share how game-changing it was to use a lightweight exercise band for bird dogs and dead bugs. I plan to grab it whenever those exercises pop up, because it makes them so much more effective.

I used the yellow one from this set–the image is an Amazon affiliate link.

Here’s my week in Peloton workouts. It was Becs Gentry’s 20 min Strength for Runners class from 3/19/19 that used the bands–thanks to Michelle for suggesting that workout.

Here’s my week in running selfies. I ran on the treadmill Monday, with Scooby Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, and by myself on Saturday–it was tough going without my sidekick but I don’t like to run on wet sidewalks with him.

I did one Peloton ride (I chose Denis Morton’s 20 minute Latin History Month ride on Cinco de Mayo) and am planning an outdoor ride later today.

Mother's Day Bike SelfieWe rode 29 miles

Weekly running miles: 28.9

Your Mother’s Day sounds just like mine! My parents are out of town, my youngest has to work…so it’s just my oldest, my hubs, and my FIL for dinner. I don’t mind. The weather is awful–we’re stuck inside.

  2. Kim at Running on the Fly says:

Lots-o-miles on foot, Coco! I let Max out in the backyard earlier, and (of course) he chose to walk through all the muddy patches for his morning business LOL I avoided walking him for that very reason…I guess he showed me. Happy Mother’s Day! Enjoy your ride later! I’m hoping to either go for a walk (or maybe an easy recovery run) later this afternoon…when all the rain and wind moves out.

  3. Marcia says:

Scooby is such a handsome boy! Happy Mother’s Day Coco!

  4. I love the Squirrel Series 😉

Glad you picked up some bands – I’m going to try to use mine more often, especially as I work through the SFR series.

    Happy Mother’s Day Coco!

  5. Lisa says:

Bands make some of those exercises so much more effective! No plans here either…just preparing for the week ahead. But we did get our for a stroller run and then went to the playground (in the rain). Happy Mother’s Day!

Scooby is such a happy boy! Best little sidekick. Running on anything slippery with a dog pulling is tough though, ha!

Exercise band strength is so good for runners! Very effective.

    Happy Mother’s Day!

Okay, I’m glad to hear you’re doing a bike ride and then a visit with your mom- I was starting to worry that your day was gong to be all work and errands!
You’re a good dog mom- Scooby must love all the running. Whenever I run past someone walking their dog, the dog gets all excited and I imagine how much they wish they could run with me. I guess I should own a dog, right? Right now I’m a very happy cat mom.

    • Coco says:

Scooby is the best running dog. Our previous boxer mix would not run more than 1/2 mile. He would just STOP. LOL.

  8. You and Scooby got in some good miles today. I will have to check out some of your Peloton picks as well. I do not normally do the ones with the bands

  9. Thanks for the birthday wishes. And the Scooby pics.

Love those fun photos of Scooby! Thanks for the suggestion about using the bands – I can see that really taking up the moves a notch. I’ll have to try that!

Happy Mother’s Day and I hope you had an awesome day! 🙂

  11. Well, of course I’m not a mom, but my day had many hours of driving. The visit with my family was short & sweet.

Poor Scooby not being able to go on runs with you! Bandit knew something was up this morning. He didn’t want to eat at first! Hope he ate dinner for the pet sitter.

And hope you a great visit with your mom!

  12. Ha, your Mother’s Day sounds like mine — definitely just another weekend. But we had snow/rain so I didn’t get to go on the long family walk as requested. Oh well! Love all the dog running you can do – I think I’d enjoy that sometimes, but it seems so chalenging!

    • Coco says:

It took some getting used to, including getting used to all his stops, although I’m learning there’s a pattern to those too.

  13. run.laugh.eat pie says:

    Love Scooby!

you had a decent week I’d say, though I get that you miss Scooby if he’s not with you. I wish one of my cats would go out with me ha!

good discovery about the bands – I was doing a few banded exercises a couple months ago – I should add those in again!

    • Coco says:

His energy keeps me going, so I had to find that mojo without him. A feline running companion would be …. interesting!

  14. Scooby looks so happy! I looked for that ride with Denis and could not find it. Then I looked closer on the image and found it. I had already bookmarked it! Denis looks so different with short hair!

  15. Cari says:

Happy belated Mother’s Day! and thanks Scooby for the Monday smile.
I need to add bands into Dead Bug now that I’ve finally figured out how to do it the way I couldn’t during PT.

  16. Great Scooby pictures, especially the squirrel! I have a PT exercise that I use a band and I really like it. It gives the exercise a good boost for sure. It was a very rainy day here for Mother’s Day and I didn’t mind it. I needed an excuse to stay inside and get some tasks done!
