Awesome August

If we were having coffee, I would you tell you about the awesome end to my August–including a trip to the beach, the Pennsylvania Dutch Farm To Fork Fondo (drool over my recap here), and a quick visit to Colorado to visit my daughter.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that while there are a lot of cute coffee shops at Rehoboth Beach, not many are open before 8:00 am. Luckily we found this one open early enough to get coffee before heading out on our bikes.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that our hotel had a free breakfast that I’m not usually tempted by (cold cereal, pre-packaged danishes) but I could not resist the pancakes from this amazing pancake machine!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you one more thing about our trip to the beach–the wicked storm that cleared the beaches Monday afternoon made the weather news

Spectacular September?

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that we had a lot of fun visiting my daughter. After braving the “easy” trails at the Valmont Bike Park, we sought out cooler fun playing indoor miniature golf.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that Scooby has done well with his Rover stays. This weekend he stayed in a high-rise apartment. I wouldn’t have selected that for him, but the person I picked had moved since I made his reservation.

He made himself right at home!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I have a crazy September on tap. I have a business trip every week–including a trip to England! It’s actually going to be a stressful month, but I will try to my best to make it spectacular.

  1. Wow, that storm does look really scary! At least it wasn’t a hurricane, right? Gotta say right now I’m envious of the fun travel; I know that business travel isn’t fun. I haven’t gone anywhere since February.

I was really looking forward to a break after wrapping up my YTT, just for a little while, but the universe had other ideas, seemingly.

Yay for Scooby doing so well! I’m guessing he had to go in an elevator? They freak Lola out, although she has been in them.

I am super behind on commenting, but no doubt I’ll be able to catch up in the hospital. 🙁

    • Coco says:

Sorry about the other things you have to take care of. 🙁 Yes, Scooby had to ride in the elevator. He did fine. Some people were afraid of him, but some fell in love with his ears. <3

  2. Wendy says:

When the boys were little, there was a glow in the dark mini golf around here that we would go to! It was a lot of fun!

Your trip to Rehoboth Beach makes me want to got there. I’ve never been to Delaware.

    • Coco says:

I grew up going to Rehoboth, so I’m biased, but …. It really has a great vibe. Pretty mellow, but enough to do. There’s a new book out about Funland — the family-owned amusement park at one end of the Boardwalk.

  3. Kim at Running on the Fly says:

Glow-in-the-dark mini golf sounds fun! I have tried to like golf, and I’m so terrible at it (and the hubby is so good), that it’s a huge anxiety-driven endeavor. MIni golf is more my gig LOL My September is gonna be stressful, too, with all of my long double digit runs on tap. Already, this weekend’s one is messing with my schedule…

    • Coco says:

I usually get the highest scoe in golf, but it’s still fun. I was more stressed on the dirt trails at the bike park! I don’t have the BMX experience by husband and daughter do.

  4. Marcia says:

OMG Scooby is SO handsome making himself at home on someone else’s couch! Lol! I’m glad he enjoyed himself. Who is not open for coffee before 8? That is madness! I’d be exploring that pancake machine as well. I had one of the kids’ birthday parties at a glow in the dark mini-golf place. Everyone loved the novelty of it. Hope all your work travels go smoothly!

  5. I love Rehoboth. We always go there at least once in the winter, usually for the marathon/half marathon that ends with Dogfish beer LOL.

Your September sounds even crazier than mine. Hope it all goes smoothly!

  6. Laurie says:

I didn’t know that you have a daughter in Colorado, Coco. What a wonderful destination to visit!

Scooby does look like he is making himself right at home for his Rover stay. Benji would not be calm enough to let me take his photo if he knew we were leaving. The older he gets, the worse his anxiety is. Bill and I have to stealth-pack and spell out words so he doesn’t suspect anything before our trips. Luckily, our neighbor (who is 16) comes over and takes good care of Benji so he doesn’t even have to leave home when we go away.

  7. Looks like it’s been a busy summer and will be a busy September! I’m so bummed that I’ll miss meeting you IRL here in Chicago next week. Hope all your travels are easy and safe!

  8. Darlene says:

Business travel is stressful but at least you get to run in new places.

Your August looked super. Mine was in NYC for work and the lake on weekends. Not complaining.

  9. Those indoor gold places are super fun! We came across one of those pancake/waffle makers at Ragnar. They were pretty good! Glad to read your summer went well. Hope to see you soon

  10. It sounds like you had a fun August! I’ve seen waffle machines at hotels, but don’t think I’ve ever seen a pancake machine. When you mention “braving the ‘easy’ trails at the Valmont Bike Park,” it reminds me of riding the “easy” mountain biking trails in Southern Utah. Their easy is not my easy. LOL

I hope you can find time to have fun while on your busy September business trips.

    Thanks for the linkup!

  11. That mini golf looks like so much fun! My kids would love that! Good luck with all of your travels and enjoy England!

  13. Cari says:

Enjoy England! Hope you have time for fun as well as work
How does Rover work, you select the person or they select the dog that seems a fit in their lifestyle?

    • Coco says:

I hope to have a wee bit of time to see the town. On Rover, you screen profiles and pick a person, and then they can accept or not. So far, so good.

  14. Scooby looks quite content! 🙂 It’s great that the Rover stays are working out so well.

I’m so glad you had such a good August! It sounds like things are going to get a bit hectic this month. I hope you get some time to be out and about while you are in England.

  15. runswithpugs says:

Busy, busy, busy! I can’t believe so few coffee shops didn’t open until 8! That seems so late.

I have never played glow in the dark mini golf but that sounds right up my alley. I am a beast at putt-putt.

  16. Wow! A trip to England. That is one business trip. After my Hawaii trip, I will be happy to not be flying on long flights for awhile( I guess only when I have to for work). I have seen those pancake machines at several hotels before but I never thought they were that good. However, it is a nice change rather than a waffle all the time.

  17. kookyrunner says:

I love when hotels have a good hot breakfast bar! IT’s such a rare find so I always take advantage of it when I can, lol.

  18. Farrah says:

I haven’t played glow in the dark mini golf but I’ve tried black light mini golf! :O I’m not looking forward to cleaning out the closet containing the contents of my apartment, butttt it’ll be a sign of me getting my life together/more organized, so I’m looking forward to that? :P!
