Vacation On My Mind

If we were having coffee, I would you tell you that the last two weeks of July were really rough at work. Nothing bad, just a big deadline that had my whole team putting in long days (and nights) to get everything done. Ironically, my long workdays are never fueled by extra coffee.  I need my morning Starbucks, but after that I stick to water.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I am counting the days to my vacation. Yes, I finally made vacation plans, and we are going to spend a few days at the beach.

If we were having coffee, I’d ask if you’ve ever used Rover? I thought it was just for dog walking, but we found someone who will take Scooby in their home.  I’m a bit nervous, but glad not to have to put him in a kennel.

He’s such a lap dog!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I’m also looking forward to the Pennsylvania Dutch Farm To Fork Fondo later this month. It’s always such a fun event!

If we were having coffee, I’d ask about your vacation plans. Where have you been? Where are you going? What was your favorite part?

I feel you on the busyness at work! In pediatrics, summer is our busy time, as everyone needs back to school physicals. Of course, they all wait until the last minute and/or save up all their health issues for that 20 minute appointment!

Team hot coffee here! Drinking it as we speak.

    • Coco says:

I’ve been that parent! When I tried to plan ahead I ran into issues with insurance not willing to cover the appointment a month earlier. :-/

  2. Marcia says:

I’ve been known to go over to the iced coffee side when it’s hot…just saying. That said it’s in the mid-50s here this morning and the coffee is steaming! Have so much fun at the beach! We aren’t taking a proper vacay this summer no thanks to all the college related travels…and the fact that I was to Japan and London earlier in the year. Haha! I am headed to Summer Camp today though! Thanks for the linkup!

  3. Glad your work schedule will ease up a bit after today. You should be on summer mode like the rest of DC 🙂 Your August sounds like it will be lots of fun with the beach and the fondo event. Maybe we can meet at yoga soon!?

  4. It’s been crazy busy at my work, too. Our office manager has “transitioned” to work remote four days a week…yes, the office manager. And now she’s no longer required to take any phone calls. Basically, the rest of us are doing her job for her, and things were extremely tense when she did make an appearance at her actual desk yesterday. Enjoy your vacation!!

  5. We’re starting to plan for vacation, too! We’re going to SF for a week in August and thinking Greece in November for our anniversary.

My work has been pretty slow. It feels like so many people I work with and clients are on vacation before kids head back to school.

    Have a great vacation!

  6. Darlene says:

unfortunately my vacation days are all used up by summer. I just have weekends.

Jealous of your beach time…I’m already looking forward to next Feb!

  7. Work for me has been crazy busy too – it was a long July!

So glad you’ve got some vacation time planned! Enjoy the beach!!

  8. Nope, no vacations here. Hope you enjoy yours!

We have used Rover, mostly with success, but there was flaky chihuahua lady (who apparently is not longer on it). We’ve never kenneled our dogs, always boarded them in someone’s home — long before Rover, but Rover makes it easier (while at the same time making it even more expensive).

  9. Count me on the hot coffee side too. Glad you are getting some vacation in. Ours this summer were a trip to Ithaca to visit Cornell, a trip to Ohio to visit schools (my husband and younger kid actually went to visit his family instead), and a trip to Wisconsin to visit my family, hit a beer festival, run Ragnar, and visit schools. Such an odd summer LOL.

  10. kookyrunner says:

My friend has used Rover a few times for overnight trips for her dog and she loves it. She has had nothing but positive experiences!

  11. Laurie says:

I now have beach envy after reading your post! 🙂 Have fun in Lancaster County! You always find the most fun events to do.

  12. runswithpugs says:

On the flip side, I love iced coffee, even when it’s cold! I just don’t love hot coffee.

I hope Scooby has a great time. I know how hard it can be finding the right caretakers for our fur babies.

Hope you have a wonderful time on your vacation! We have one more family trip planned to Orlando for a football game and it’s going to be so much fun! We will be meeting up with my college roommate and her family, and I love when the kids hang out together.

  13. Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says:

Oh, work stress, I can relate to that, but fortunately I haven’t had to work late hours…yet. I’m going on vacation to Europe next week and I’m already worrying about keeping the “machine running” while I’m away since we have so many deadlines.

Nice to see you’re doing the Farm to Fork again! If I had a functioning bike, I’d love to give it a try someday!

    • Coco says:

Have an amazing vacation! The Fondo usually teams up with a local bike shop for rentals, but I think you’ll have your hands full this time next year!

  14. We have a couple of huge events this summer in our families. My parents celebrated their 80th birthdays and 60th wedding anniversary with a big party coordinated between my siblings, my cousin, and I back in June. Then at the end of this month my brother in law is getting married. Both events are “back home” so we’re really excited for them but it means that all vacation time for this summer is spoken for.

We do a lot of theme park weekends but I’m thinking I really need a vacation that involves parking my backside in a lounge chair with a stack of books and a pretty nature view. I may start looking at weekends and see what I find nearby.
