What does it say about me that I did not go for a run on Global Running Day, but I did celebrate National Donut Day? Would it make any difference if I told you that I met up with women from my Moms Run This Town Group for a run before we got donuts?
I don’t usually run on Fridays since I do my long run on Saturdays, but I thought I could handle a 3 mile run at 5:30 am before Sugar Shack opened at 6:00, so I sacrificed a strength day in the name of friendship, community, and donuts!
But I’m getting ahead of myself for my Weekly Wrap recap. Let’s go back to the beginning of the week–I’ve had such a stressful week at work I almost forgot it was just Memorial Day.
Monday: Orange Theory Fitness
I was surprised at how many people joined me for the 6:15 am class on Memorial Day–there were 22 of us! I worked extra hard and thanked the coach for being there so early.
Tuesday: 45 minute strength workout at home (upper body/core)
Wednesday: 45 minute indoor cycling // 60 min yoga
Yep, I did everything but running on Global Running Day.
The Georgetown BID is sponsoring Sunset Fitness in the Park every Wednesday from now through August, about 2 blocks from my office. This week started the program with yoga offered by a CorePowerYoga instructor, and Athleta provided water, snacks and raffled off gifts to five participants. Most fun was seeing Mar there. 🙂
Thursday: 5 mile run
When I woke up Thursday I couldn’t decide where to run. I had planned to meet some MRTT friends at the track, but my legs told me they didn’t need a hard track workout. Since I already had my stuff packed to get ready at the gym at work, I decided to head into to D.C. and run there. It was interesting to run around the Tidal Basin with no one else there–so different from Cherry Blossom season!
Friday: 3 mile run for donuts. 🙂
Saturday: 8.7 mile run
My “view from the top” for the June #RunChatHunt photo scavenger hunt.
Saturday I met some women from my MRTT group for an 8 mile run over the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. Erin forgot to start her Garmin until we had gone about 1/2 mile, and wanted to keep running until it read 8.0 miles, so we went a little longer. Yes, when it comes to Garmin data craziness we are enablers!
Sunday: 45 minute indoor cycling class
(because it was supposed to be rainy, but it wasn’t, but that’s OK because I got a friend to join me)
With all my fitness classes and MRTT group runs, my fitness is getting much more “social” than it used to be, and I am really liking it. I never thought I’d find friends who’d be at 5 am OTF classes, meet for 5:30 am weekday runs, and want to knock out weekend long runs as early as I do.

Would you rather meet me to run for donuts at 5:30 am or join me for yoga in the park at 6:00 pm?
There are so many great outdoor yoga classes this summer I plan to try to make a few of them myself. Looks like a great week for you!
I did run on National Running Day. But I had no idea it was National Donut day until I heard it on the radio. But I am not a big fan of donuts anyway. But you can’t argue w free, which some of the Dunkin Donuts were offering. I have been really enjoying yoga these days so I’d have to go w that one!
I’m not a huge fan of donuts either, but every once in a while I succumb!
I missed running on National Running Day due to my aching foot/leg. How fun that you met up with pals to run and then eat donuts. The outdoor Yoga class sounded fun and how nice that you got to see Mar. You have quite a fun group of DC bloggers that seem to connect frequently!
I’ve met so many great local bloggers! My MRTT group is always up for donut runs, and beer runs, and whatever other excuses we can come up with!
Yoga in the park. Absolutely. And you’re so lucky to have that!
I’m up at 5:30 am, but that doesn’t mean I want to leave the house. I used to, but somehow these days I never want to anymore.
Sounds to me like you had a very solid week!
I definitely have to get out the door before I have a chance to think about it!
I didn’t run on National Running Day AND I didn’t eat any doughnuts on National Doughnut Day. What is wrong with me, LOL!?!?!?!? Yoga in the park is the best. There’s something so incredible about stretching with the fresh air around you – it makes it that much more relaxing!
I did not participate in National Donut day. What have I become!?! I am but a mere ghost of what I used to be. ((hangs head))
As long as you celebrated pi day — please tell me you celebrated pi day!
sunset yoga in the park. Obviously 😉 great running into you!
It was so funny that we didn’t plan it!
I’d definitely meet up for a early run. I love running at that time of day. Depending on the time of year, we’d be rewarded with a beautiful sunrise too. I don’t eat many donuts. On a rare occasion I’ll eat a sour cream cake donut. Thanks for supporting the WW Coco!
Oooh, that sounds yummy!
I really dropped the ball this week– I didn’t run on Global Running Day or eat Donuts on National Donut Day. And it’s not like I didn’t know about these days..
I did get a run in on National, ummm Global running day but I did not have any donuts 🙁 I even had them in the camper too!
Do I really have to choose Coco, I’d love to join you for both 🙂
That would be awesome!
I love donut but I wonder how many miles I have to run to burn all the calories from the donut! LOL
I ran for National/Global Running Day, but I didn’t have donuts on National Donut Day. It wasn’t for lack of trying. My husband went to get some from the local donut shop and they were sold out. No surprise there. I would probably join you for both donuts then yoga or vice versa.
