Talk About The Passion After 32 Years

Thirty-two years ago today I met my husband. Yes, we’ve been together for 32 years. We got married five years and one day after we met, so we’ll celebrate our anniversary tomorrow, but today is a perfect day for me to talk about the passion we’ve shared over the decades.

Talk About The Passion - Sweethearts

When we first met, it was all about passion. In fact, since it was the 80’s, we often listed to R.E.M.’s Talk About The Passion–although it’s hardly a romantic love song.

When we were married with children, passion took a back seat to everything else, but with grandparents nearby we didn’t have to go too long without a date night.

As our kids got older, their passions became our passions–school plays, travel soccer, BMX, lacrosse.

Now that we’re empty nesters, we’re back to our passions–cycling, hiking, skiing, and other things that get our heart rates up. 😉

Thanks to Deb for picking such a perfect word for me

  2. aww so cute! I love it -what great role models for your kids you are. Hope you have a fabulous anniversary!

  3. Happy anniversary! Our 30th is a bit less than a month away. I recently used our good china, which I rarely do, and discovered a small chip on the bottom. Which kind of reminds me of marriage — it may get chipped, but it’s still together.

I’ve had many passions in my life — some are brief, some are lifelong, some wax & wane. But I think the most important thing is to just have something that you ARE passionate about!

  4. I love that you picked one of my favorite songs for your post (I did too!) and that you and your husband are together after all these years. We just celebrated 27 years of marriage and yes, we’ve been together for 32 years as well!

  5. Alison says:

Happy early anniversary! My husband and I have been together for 10 years, married for 6. We share some common interests, but I love that our passions are different (me: running, him: music) so we have a place to be an individual, but also things to talk about. I’m always curious to know what he’s interested in lately, new bands he’s found, because I like to see the excitement on his face when he talks about it!

    • Coco says:

I agree that it’s important to have separate interests too. Cycling is not my main passion, but he convinced me to try it with him and I have been surprised at how much I have come to enjoy it.
