Welcome to the February Ultimate Coffee Date! Please help yourself to a cup of coffee or tea, pull up a chair, and let’s catch up!
(Use the code above to grab the Ultimate Coffee Date badge for your blog!)
If we were having coffee, I would have to ask you to help yourself, because I can’t move after the Solidcore class I did last night with one of my Ultimate Coffee Date co-hosts, Deb. I will be writing up a full review soon, but for now I just need you to understand that my core wasn’t the only muscle group that got a workout!
We are ready for our coffee date!
If we were having coffee, I would ask you to remind me that my first race of 2015 is only three weeks away and ask me what I am doing to get ready for it! I have added hills to my running program, and I chose the 5K option of Laura’s 5 by the 5th series so I can focus on speed, but I haven’t given up my weekly spinning class to get up to three run a week. :-/
I don’t think I will be setting any records at the Reston 10 Miler, but since I didn’t run that fast during the Reston Perfect 10, there is still a chance I could set a course PR. 😉
If we were having coffee, I would ask if you have any plans for Valentine’s Day. I’ve sent my daughter something special, but I don’t even have a card for my husband! When Valentine’s Day falls on a weekend like this year, we usually stay in to avoid the crowds–how about you?
If we were having coffee, I would ask if you saw my post about American Heart Month and why taking steps to prevent heart disease is so important to me. While the official “Go Red” day was on Friday, it’s never too late to be heart-healthy!
If we were having coffee, I would thank you for stopping by, and let you know that we should catch up more often!

Oh, hills. Those were always the bane of my existence, but keep at it! <3 It'll be worth it, and best of luck to you on your first race of the year! :]
Hooray for promoting awareness for American Heart Month! :] I did two posts about Hypertension for it so far, and am trying to think of what topic to do for the last Monday in February!
Avoiding crowds = a wonderful idea. :] I'm spending my Valentine's Day volunteering/living at the cat shelter that my friend runs! I haven't had the chance to go visit her in ages, so I'm really looking forward to it. Hope you have an awesome weekend!
Thanks so much! I love that you are volunteering on Valentine’s Day – that’s a perfect way to celebrate!
All the best with your race! I love 10 milers but am getting a really slow start with running. My first race this year isn’t until April.
My first was going to be the Cherry Blossom in April, until I added this one in March! I haven’t raced since November, so it felt like it was about time.
good morning! Nice pic of you and Deborah! I posted yesterday aout American heart as well and yes I wore my red, love red 🙂 My hubby and I normally do not go out on Valentine’s day- it is just too crowded! Good luck with your race! Stay warm 🙂
It’s nice nice to meet blogger friends in person! We already have so much in common. 😉
I was telling Deborah that I was intrigued by her past post on Solid Core. There aren’t any around me though. I’m glad you enjoyed it!! There has been so much snow where I am, I am actually kind of glad that I don’t have any races this month. No idea where they would put all the runners!
Valetine’s Day is next week – I can’t beleive it. Thank you for the reminder. I don’t have a card either (And I’m thinking I probably won’t…)
Thank you for being a great host! This is a fun link up.
I’m pretty sure I didn’t say I ^enjoyed^ Solidcore, although I did enjoy when it was over. I was tough – but good!
Bahahaha! This made me laugh outloud! Fair enough!!! Then, I’m glad it’s over for you! 🙂
Good luck on your race, you’ll do great! We are not big Valentine’s Day celebrators. I usually do a LOVE breakfast…pancakes in the shapes of hearts, well everything in the shape of a heart if I can manage it, all on plates with hearts. But that’s about it.
Oh, that’s a great idea. I love pancakes but don’t take the time to fix them very often.
I’m a 5 by the 5th runner too!! I’m so glad Laura brought it back. 🙂 Good luck on your upcoming race! I have yet run a 10 miler race. I need to find one, it’s the perfect distance!
So great to see you last night! Hope you can walk and that you still talk to me. My obliques are sore. Every year I want to do the Reston 10 and the past 2 I’ve been injured. Ugh maybe next year!
Solidcore sounds like a serious class! How fun you got to go with Deb! Good job getting in some hill training – running hills will always serve you well!
I love doing speedwork and 5k’s are awesome! I love the challenge that comes from running all out like that. It’s a totally different challenge from distance running.
For Valentine’s Day I plan on running the Spartan Race with my boyfriend. Unorthodox, I know, but that’s us. We’ve never been a traditional couple when it comes to holidays. I’m excited for it though! It’ll be a great bonding experience!
I’m not a big fan of 5K races because they take so much time for so little mileage, but when I think of them differently — like you explained — they do seem like a worthwhile challenge! Thanks for linking up!
Ah Valentine’s Day on a weekend – we definitely stay in. I think I’ll make something yummy for dinner. I do buy little gifts for my family. I’ve got 2 of 3 covered.
Thanks for the coffee date!
What about the four-legged family members? Any heart-shaped kibble in their future. (Do they make that?)
I love that you and Deb got to meet and workout together, although I am a tad jealous. I think a nice getaway to the wine country is what you both should do this summer {wink wink}. I can’t wait for my first run of 2015, but if I can’t get myself and family better soon, I don’t know when I can get started again.
That sounds like a great plan! I really hope you are feeling better soon!
I wore red yesterday to help spread awareness 🙂 I did read your post and I’m happy to see others spread awareness. I’ll be running a 5K on Valentine’s Day and apparently my other half made dinner reservations, which is a surprise because we typically treat it like any other day. It’s tough to get back into the swing of training during winter! I’m sure you’ll be ready for your 5K! Have a great weekend 🙂
It sounds like you’re going to have a great Valentine’s Day! Thanks for linking up!

can’t wait to hear what you thought about solid core – i want to try it but whew! those classes are even more expensive that pure barre 🙂
and more painful – at least for me! but I think I did like it better …
Hubby is not around this Valentine’s so I’m taking my minions out on a nice date. Looking forward to it! 🙂
Sounds like fun!
I was bummed I couldn’t join you guys at Solidcore. Glad you enjoyed it!
So cool that you and Deb got to meet in person – sounds like the workout was pretty awesome, too!
We rarely do anything for Valentine’s day and I’m OK with that.
I won tickets to the Boston Wine Fest so that’s our Valentines’s plan for this year. We’ll probably get our daughter something little but we’re skipping gifts this year.
I look forward to your Solidcore workout review! It sounds interesting. All the best with your race training!
I’m bummed that I couldn’t go to Solidcore with you guys. I’ve been wanting to try it out!
Good luck on your race!! I am doing hill work with my training plan for Cherry Blossom…a little nerve-wracking but I’m happy for the challenge! I meant to participate in the Coffee Date and got backed up…next month I’ve got to join in!
LOVELOVELOVE the go red selfie.
we need to meet up for a relfie? frielfie? (ok I made those up) this year.
pretty DENVER please? 🙂
No Valentine plans for me… I am not a big fan. Good luck in your upcoming races !
