I thought the first Wednesday of February would be a good time to share some foods I’m loving lately! Although I like to cook dinner at home, especially on the weekend when I have more time, my husband and I usually go out to eat on Saturday nights–our date night. We have a lot of good restaurants to choose from, but we keep going back to this one.
The Lost Dog Cafe has great pizzas and a large selection of craft beers–what more can a rungry girl want? Our favorite pizza is The Burro, which is sort of like a vegetarian taco salad on a pizza crust. It is even topped with shredded iceberg lettuce and slices of fresh avocado. It is so good! I spend a ridiculous amount of time craving its delicious goodness and planning our next night out. I was excited when they opened a new location close to our house–and disappointed relieved when we found out that we live outside of their delivery area.
At our happy place!
Soon after the new Lost Dog Cafe location opened, a new Sugar Shack donut shop opened next door!
I am not a huge fan of donuts, but we had to give them a try.
The donuts are HUGE and just a few bites is enough to send my blood sugar soaring, although that didn’t stop me from eating the whole thing! 😉 If you live nearby, be sure to “like” their Facebook page so you can get in on the “Freebie of the day.”
Speaking of trying things, I was offered an opportunity to review a Bulu Box, which is a monthly subscription box of samples of vitamins, supplements, and other “healthy” products.
My box included a sample of Umph! pre-workout drink mix, Berry Sleepy supplements, and Miracle Tree tea, as well as some weight-loss supplements. Although the website says that “[e]very sample is sufficient enough to decide if the product is right for you,” I’m not sure that 1-3 “doses” of products designed to help with sleep, boost energy, or aid weight loss are enough to decide if the products work, but it could be enough to make sure that you like the taste and immediate effect of the products.
Not surprisingly, this was my favorite sample!

What are you loving to eat lately?
I should probably stay away from the Sugar Shack for sure! I haven’t been to lost dog in a while but they do have great sandwiches. Looking forward to our workout date 🙂
I haven’t tried the sandwiches — can’t get enough of their pizza!
I was a little skeptical of the bulu box too with their weight loss pills!
who doesn’t love pizza and chocolate?!
Oh how I love doughnuts…they’re my biggest weakness!!
I think it’s great that you have a date night too:D
I’m a sucker for pizza. Yummy! I hear ya on being happy to be out of a delivery area – that would be dangerous.
I’ve had a few donuts lately, but I think the craving has been satisfied, so I’m good for a few years again 🙂
That pizza place sounds good – I love good pizza so much better than the chain pizzas!!!
I’m a basic donut fan – plain glazed, preferably hot!!!
Ah, so you’d like our Krispy Kreme bakery store when the “Hot Donuts” sign is on! It was **the** place to go when we were out late in our younger days …
Oh, I LOVE Krispy Kremes!! When I went to grad school in Alabama we had those and went at 2 or 3am more times than I can count!!!
I tried the Sugar Shack last week. We went in at 9am and they had only THREE donuts in the entire place. By default we took the last 3 that were red velvet and OMG were they AMAZING!!!
I have another friend who loved the red velvet!
My sweet tooth and the Sugar Shack should not meet! LOL!
Perfect carb-loading before or refueling after Cherry Blossom! 😉
OMG those donuts!!!!
Wow, those donuts. (can’t eat them, but they look awesome! maybe DH should try them) We’ve never been to Lost Dog.
Already time for the Feb coffee date, holy cow.
Yep, time is flying again! Do you eat gluten-free? Rustico has the best gluten-free pizza crust! We order it just because it is so delicious.
hmmm
field trip?
VOGS AND SUGAR???
