Before 2013 gets away from me, I thought I would take some time to reflect on the year, and look back on a few of my favorite things.
- Best Book: I read more books than ever this year, across a variety of genres, so it’s hard to pick a favorite. I don’t usually read non-fiction, but I really enjoyed Sonia Sotomayor’s memoir. It was as interesting as any novel, but all the more poignant because it’s a true story of how she rose from the projects to the Supreme Court.

- Best Movie: My husband and I don’t go to the movies all that often, but we did see a few this year. Although I wasn’t all that excited about seeing it, I think World War Z ended up being my favorite.
- Best Race: I had a lot of great race experiences this year, but I have to list the Army 10 Miler as my best race of 2013. Not only did I finish with a personal record, but I feel like I finally beat the 14th Street Bridge!
(You can read my race recap here)
- Best Fitness Gear: I tried quite a few fun products this year, but the one thing that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone is the Yurbuds Inspire model earbuds. They really don’t fall out! (Just don’t buy the Inspire Talk model without reading this post.)
- Best New Activity: I never thought that I would really like spinning, let alone love it, but I do! I am so glad that Carly invited me to try a class at Revolve!

- Best Recipe: I did some experimenting in the kitchen this year, and my biggest hit by far was my easy no-bake oatmeal peanut butter balls recipe. (It’s also one of my most popular posts!) They hit the spot when I need a bite to eat before my workout, and also are perfect for after-dinner nibbling.

Do you take time to look back this time of year, or are you focused on the year ahead?

This was a year of many “firsts” for me. It was great but I am excited for 2014!
I want to run the Army 10 Miler this year!

There’s those PB balls that I meant to try, but still haven’t. I guess since it made another post I neeeeed to! Fantastic year for you! One thing I’d say you left out is how much you progressed with learning to cycle this year. Getting in and out of those clips is a major accomplishment!
Spinning is my favorite cross training too.
2013 was a great year, especially since it was this year that I decided to start running. I can’t wait to see what 2014 has in store for everybody!
My favorite blogging moment of 2013 was probably Fitbloggin and hanging out with all my new blogger friends 🙂
Best new activity: SurfSet!
Happy New Year!
I enjoyed your “Best of” post – fun way to recap the year!
