Using Apps For Workout Music

Rock My Run Got Me Out The Door

I usually look forward to my Saturday long runs, but this weekend I had a really hard time getting myself out the door. I was surprised by what finally did the trick–new workout music from the RockMyRun App.

Despite the gift of unbelievably perfect running weather in mid-August,

Despite having these new beauties to take on their first long run,

I had no motivation to go for a run last Saturday. For a brief moment I even considered waking up my husband to go for a bike ride instead–but I decided to put on my running clothes and see how I felt after I took Tiger Lilly out for her morning walk.

When we got back, I still wasn’t raring for a run, but I fixed my usual pre-long run breakfast and hoped it had some motivation stuffed inside. While my waffle was toasting, I got my running gear together and fiddled with the new-to-me RockMyRun app.

Yep, that’s a #runchat mix and a mix by Katy Widrick!

I always run with music–unless I forgot to charge my iPod–but I hate the hassle of making a new playlist. One thing I really like about the RockMyRun app is that you can download the mixes, so you can take your workout music outside without using your cellphone service–or draining your battery.

The description on Katy’s mix was too fitting to resist.

That was just how I was feeling! After downloading that mix and a few others,
I finally felt ready to run.

When I saw this sign on my run, I was glad I made it out the door!

Overall, I ended up having a great run.
