Because he needs to know the wider culture is toxic and that values need strengthening every day.
Which is why we teach out kids that the Good Book must be our standard. Not always easy, though. My past is riddled with offensives. I openly share with my kids about my past (craziness of youth. ugh) to teach them how NOT to go about certain things.
As a son of a mother, he'll be OK.
