Why Starbucks Is My Home Away From Home

Last month I shared how I took Starbucks on the road for our Grand Canyon vacation. The day that post was published I woke up at 1:55 am local time in San Jose–my body clock was still back on the east coast! I worked in my hotel room until it was a “normal” time to go for a run, and planned my route to end at the Starbucks that was a block near my hotel shortly after it opened.

On that whirlwind trip, I had breakfast at this Starbucks in San Jose, a sandwich for dinner from the Starbucks at SFO, and breakfast at a Starbucks in Dallas. Continue reading

The Thousand Dollar Chicago Lakefront Long Run 

Last week I had a quick business trip to Chicago, arriving Thursday evening for a conference Friday and heading home Friday night. As usual, I packed my running gear, but when I woke up to steady rain Friday morning I decided to hit the gym instead.

My husband keeps his car immaculate. He even bought a miniature trash can that fits in a cup holder so he has a proper place for small items of trash. I, on the other hand, treat my car like the thing it is–a giant purse stocked with whatever I might need in an emergency.
