Warning Signs

I’m still trying to figure out if my sometimes-achy foot is something I can push through, or a warning sign I should be heeding. In the meantime, I’m going to share five warning signs that tickled my funnybone.

On the grounds of the Capitol

Caution

In New York City!

Noise Sign

At the top of a long, steep hill

Warning Signs - Rollerblader On Hill

Being Faithful During Holy Week

I can’t believe that this weekend is Easter already. It snuck up on me so much I planned a business trip and visit with my daughter without realizing it was Easter weekend. Since I’ll be flying home Sunday morning, I’m not sure I’ll be able to go to church, but I’d love to find a sunrise service like the one we attended last year.

St Paul's Easter Sunrise ServiceAttending an Easter sunrise service at a historic graveyard
really brought home the impact of the Resurrection.

I didn’t do a very good job of observing a Holy Lent this year, but I was pretty faithful about going to church every week. I skipped one day to try to get in a bike ride before it rained, but God had the last laugh when the rain came early. 😉 I missed another day for the Reston 10 Miler, but usually when planning my Sundays I put church on the calendar first. Carla has written about living her priorities, and making church a priority is the least I can do to live my commitment to my faith. Continue reading

Regret That Workout

Right now, I’m regretting a workout I did at the track last week. Before I tell you more about that, here’s a quick rundown of my workouts for the Weekly Wrap hosted by Holly and Tricia. Continue reading

No Shenanigans On St. Patrick’s Day

I’ve always been a rule follower. Maybe it stems from my Montessori education, where there were particular ways of doing things and everything had to be put back in its place before moving on to something else. Maybe it stems from being high strung and worried that Bad Things would happen if rules were broken. I distinctly remember crying in the back seat after seeing on the speedometer that my Dad was speeding because I thought we’d all be thrown in jail.

Dad

So, I don’t have any fun stories to tell you about my shenanigans.  But shenanigans is a great Wednesday Word, and reminds me of other great words my Dad used. Continue reading
