I bet the wind will make the headlines of a lot of 2016 Cherry Blossom race recaps, and it was no joke. When I heard it howling as I was getting out of bed, I wondered if the race would be canceled, but there was a reassuring post on the race’s Facebook page that the race was ON.

Sausage Stuffed Peppers

Stuffed peppers is one of those recipes I love to eat but don’t make very frequently because it takes so long to prepare. This Sausage Stuffed Peppers recipe uses a few shortcuts to make it faster. If you’ve already got some cooked rice on hand from following these meal planning ideas or as plain old leftovers, you can have this dinner on the table in 30 minutes.

To make this meal on a weeknight, I use the timer feature on my rice cooker to have the rice ready when I get home from work, brown the sausages while I prepare the peppers, and fix a tossed salad while the peppers bake.   Continue reading

Seizing The Day

Last week should have been my last week of training for the Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Mile Run next weekend. Or maybe it should have been a week of taking it easy to make sure my foot is ready for that race. But instead, it ended up being a week of seizing the day and taking advantage of special opportunities.

My general plan for the week was to take it easy and let my foot recover from whatever happened to it last week, so on Monday morning I took my dog for a long walk and did a short strength routine focusing on upper body and core exercises. Continue reading
