Finding The Right Work Life Balance

This was one of those weeks when my work-life balance went up and down like a see-saw. A big deadline on Tuesday meant a really late night in the office on Monday but was followed by an easy work-at-home day on Wednesday. I thought of it as well-earned recovery day and relished the slow pace.

I also managed to finish that project on Tuesday in time to meet my family for dinner, and was able to leave work early on Thursday to get my sister-in-law from the airport. All-in-all, it balanced out pretty well.

Cautiously Optimistic

Despite a stressful work week complicated by a sore throat and cough with a few first world problems thrown in, my theme for this week is cautiously optimistic.  I am in good shape with regard to that looming work deadline, my voice is almost back to normal, and my plantar fascia does not hurt at all!

Cautiously Optimistic
It’s the thought that my plantar fasciitis might really be healed that has me cautiously optimistic. I can’t help but be happy when my foot doesn’t ache, but I am wary of doing too much too soon–or slacking off from my PT exercises too soon.

First Race Of 2018 ~ The Reston Ten Miler

My first race of 2018 is in the books! Today I ran the Reston Ten Miler, and I’m so glad I made myself carve out the time to drive to Reston and brave the hilly course. I stuck with my promise of not racing this race, but am pleased that my legs–and my PF–let me finish strong.

Marching On With The Ultimate Coffee Date

How fitting is it that I am setting up our March Ultimate Coffee Date while sitting in Starbucks? Hopefully by the time we get together I will be enjoying my morning coffee at home. No matter where I am, I look forward to our monthly gatherings, where we imagine that we are getting together for coffee (or tea, or your favorite relaxing beverage), and share what’s going on in our lives. It’s a chance to get to know each other better and support each other in all our endeavors. Since it’s no fun to have coffee alone, make sure you leave comments on other blogs in the link up, and don’t forget to visit my co-host Deborah at Confessions Of A Mother Runner.

Hotel Gym Physical Therapy Workouts

It seems like once a year I have a business trip from heck, and this week was that week. I would be just landing in one city when I got a check-in alert for my next flight the next day. And, while my itinerary included great cities for running, my hotels were in business districts along freeways, so I mostly stuck with hotel gyms.

The view out my hotel window of the office I was visiting.

Being in a running desert was frustrating, but probably good for my plantar fasciitis. I finally feel like it is getting betting for real–fingers crossed! Continue reading
