Spring Slog

It seems like it’s been more than one week since Easter—maybe because so much is going on. I’m not quite in a slump, but this week felt like a slog.

He does make me smile!

Spring Slog

I know I complained about the too-warm-too-soon weather last weekend, but when the overnight temperatures plummeted back down to the 30s this week, I was not in the mood! I opted for my basement gym most days, but since my husband was away I doubled up my walks with Scooby.

Here’s a snapshot of the Peloton classes I took Monday-Saturday.

If you read the fine print you’ll see more strength classes than I’ve been doing lately and less cycling. In addition to not wanting to bundle up and run in the dark, my right knee has been bothering me. 😳 Although it only acts up when I’m not running/cycling it is source of concern so I’m trying to dial things back. 😕

On Monday I’ve got another trip to Chicago for work. I never look forward to the slog into the city from O’Hare, but I am hoping to get in some (short) runs and meet up with Erica. I’ve put in a request for spring weather, but that can mean anything!

A huge thank you to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up.

What are you looking forward to this month?

Oh no, sorry to hear about the knee! Let’s hope it will quieten down soon.
Doubling up the Scooby walks and shifting to more strength instead of forcing miserable runs sounds smart.
And yes, I’m looking forward to my London Marathon! (although with a lot of anxiety in the mix, ha!)

  2. Hope your knee feels better with some time off. Nothing wrong with some extra strength work. I am loving all the new bench strength classes-have you tried those?

  3. Jenny says:

Okay, I hope the Mayor of Chicago sees your request and you get your spring weather! Bummer about the knee- it always has to be something, right??? More strength work can only help. Glad it doesn’t hurt while running!
It really does seem like Easter was much more than a week ago- how did that happen. Time is weird.

  4. Ugh on the knee situation. I hope it improves soon. My husband has had some knee issues this past week, in addition to a sore back. Because, you know, it’s gotta be something! I hope you still get to enjoy your time in the city and the weather is good for you.

  5. Darlene S Cardillo says:

Hope you enjoy your Chicago trip and get in some runs (and not with knee pain).

  6. Sorry to hear about your knee. It’s always something, isn’t it. I’ve been feeling something “off” with my right knee…maybe ITB (?), though I’ve never had that issue before. It’s probably connected to the other stuff with the TFL (also another phantom tweak that’s never been a concern before either). There’s some initial stiffness on my runs, but all feels good after a mile or so. I hope things start to feel better for you!

  7. Wendy says:

I’m so sorry about your knee! I hope you’re able to get some runs in while you’re here in Chicago–I think your wish for spring weather will be granted!

  8. Debbie says:

Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear about your sudden knee pain. I hope it goes away quickly so you can get back to your indoor rides. Does it bother you when riding your outdoor bike or have you been on it yet this spring (sorry I can’t remember).

    Safe travels to Chicago!

  9. Melissa says:

Ugh, so sorry to hear about your knee! My hip has been bothering me and it is no fun to not run! Hope you feel better soon (hope we both do!). Good luck with Chicago this week! Congrats on all that strength activity – that is definitely something to celebrate!

  10. Susanne says:

Ouch, when cold weather comes back after a period of warmer weather, it’s so depressing!
Nice with some extra strength training. That can only do good for your knee – I hope it feels better soon!

  11. Jenn says:

That’s a lot of Peloton classes!

I agree: Easter seems so far away already. It’s been a long week for sure. I’m sorry you’re slogging through it. Hopefully next week will be better!
