Somebody Call A Toe Truck

This week is ending better than I thought it would, but I definitely needed a toe truck a few days ago. That’s our family joke when somebody stubs a toe, and I did a number on my baby toe last Sunday. 😩

Oof!

Somebody Call A Toe Truck

As with most household injuries, it started with carelessness. I was dashing through the kitchen to grab the airpods I had forgotten for my workout. A kitchen stool I had left awry jumped out and attacked me, catching my baby toe as I ran by. 🙄 It hurt a bit in the moment 🤬 but as the day wore on it kept throbbing, and it was purple and swollen by the next morning. 🫣 I didn’t realize how bad it was until I tried to take Scooby for a walk. I grit my teeth and hobbled along—it took us 20 minutes to cover less than half a mile.

Luckily a few doses of meloxicam knocked the swelling down and I was able to run by Wednesday—although it still hurts a bit.

Weekly Run Down

The great toe tragedy struck on Sunday as I was getting ready to take a CVV ride.

It hadn’t realized the extent of the damage yet, so it didn’t stop me. This particular ride was focused on out of the saddle work, with a ladder of standing intervals you can see in the cadence and resistance graphs.

My injured toe didn’t interfere too much with my Coretober workouts, but I had to be careful getting into plank position.

I did all of this week’s classes, except I traded a Jess King pilates class for the dance cardio class.

By Wednesday I was ready to try lacing up my running shoes and glad my toe could tolerate them.

Temperatures were in the low- to mid-50s—my favorite running weather!

Friday I gave in to pop culture and took two of the classes from Peloton’s new Taylor Swift Life of A Showgirl collection.

I don’t take Ally’s classes very often but enjoyed this one.

Strength classes require more talking/coaching, but Katie let us focus on the music as much as possible.

I started Saturday with hot yoga, and then hopped on my treadmill for a sweaty run with Alex. All my “Scooby miles” are at a pretty easy pace, so I like to mix it up once in a while.

I’m sparing you the gory details!

A huge thank you to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up.

Do you have any tricks for recovering from a stubbed toe? No way could I tolerate icing it!

Coretober, Pelo-Drama, and Scooby Miles

October is a popular month for core workouts, and nobody does Coretober better than my Peloton Breakthrough Crew Facebook group. The volunteer leaders created a calendar of workouts to keep us crunching and planking through Halloween.

Do you notice anything about the classes?

Working And Working And Working Out

This was a tough week. I had a grueling work deadline that kept me burning the midnight oil a few days in a row — assuming 9 pm counts as “midnight,” which it should when I start my work day by 8 am, right? Whenever I took a Facebook break I was assaulted by the outrageous news of the day, and closer to home I have several friends and family members coping with serious health issues. ~sigh~

Working And Working Out In D.C.

This week I was back in D.C. for a hectic week of work. It was busy in a good way, but didn’t leave much time for anything else. I managed to eat dinner with my husband once, but afterwards had to finish a project before logging off for the day.
