Mother’s Day Motivation

Happy Mother’s Day! There’s something about Mother’s Day weekend that makes me want to fill my flower pots. Even though gardening generally does not bring me joy, it doesn’t take much motivation to pick out pretty flowers and get them potted.

Mother’s Day Motivation

Aside from “yard” work (patio work?), I am having a low-key weekend, with a visit from my son on Saturday, and dinner with my Mom on Sunday—I’ll see my daughter in June.

I enjoy giving Mrs. Toad a crazy hairdo!

I drew a lot of motivation from the Peloton Spring Cross-Training Plan, and liked having my main workouts planned out for the week. I did have to make adjustments to the program and to my own schedule to make it work—I took Monday’s class on Tuesday, took the Tuesday and Wednesday classes on Wednesday, and worked from home to take the Thursday and Friday classes live. 🫢 I finished the program on Friday and decided to give my legs a day off before my last “long” run ahead of the Lawyers Have Heart 10K next weekend.

Sunday The cross-training program doesn’t have much upper body work, so I added an arms + shoulders class to my schedule on Sunday before hopping on my bike for a fun hip hop ride with Camilla.

Monday I had to wear long sleeves again for my run with Scooby. It’s going to be a rough adjustment when it’s in the 60s for Lawyers Have Heart.

Tuesday I paired the Week 4 Day 1 30 min strength class with a 20 min ride with Cody. My knee didn’t balk at the high resistance intervals out of the saddle, so maybe it really is better.

Wednesday I did the Week 4 core class and my own p/re-hab exercises (clam shells, glute bridges, etc.) before hopping on my treadmill for the Week 4  30 min tread class.

I’ve deleted the double counted run from Garmin Connect.

Thursday I Pelofess I worked from home so I could take the Week 3 Day 4 strength class live at 6:30. I had just enough time for a 15 min ride with Hannah F. before joining the class. Katy’s class was heavy on calf raises, so I wrapped up my workout time with a 10 min foam rolling class to give them some TLC.

Friday I knew the last 45 min tread class of the spring cross-training program was going to be a tough one. I warmed up by taking a core class, doing my own pre-run exercises from the list my ortho gave me, and easing into running with a 10 min warm-up run. The finale was tough for sure, but I made it through!

Saturday  I gave my tired legs a break, took Scooby for a long walk, and did a stack of lighter workouts, including Hannah Corbin’s Pelo-famous barre class that is a real glute burner.

This class has been taken over 1.5 million times—
and I’ll probably take it again this week.

The timing of the spring cross-training program aligned well with the Lawyers Have Heart next weekend. I plan to take one of the 30 min tread classes again on Tuesday, but otherwise keep it a light week. Tunde must have heard about my orthopedist appointment, because she dropped a new class that’s all glute bridges, clam shells, and leg lifts.

I took it before my run with Scooby on Monday, and it certainly activated all the right muscles!

I appreciate all your support for my American Heart Association fundraising page!

A huge thank you to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up.

Happy Mother’s day! How funny with that new class with all the clamshells and glute bridges! I’m glad your knee is doing ok. You’ve had a good week of varied training! Your Mrs Toad is so fun – she looks great with the colourful hairdo.

  3. I also took Tunde’s class this week -those moves are always good to add in. Andy has an old one like that I have to find again. That Hannah class is a good one! Glad you like the spring training program. I need to decide what to do next. I feel lost without a plan! Happy mother’s day

Well, your glutes should be nice and strong! Glad the knee is feeling good. I like that you worked from home so you could take a live Peloton class! Priorities!
I hope you’re having a nice weekend and enjoying your “patio work”!

  5. Ooh, thanks for the heads-up on Hannah’s and Tunde’s classes. I’m gonna check them out (maybe tonight?) and get back to work on my glutes. I have my DAM to DSM 13.1 on the 30th, so I need to keep things in-check as I hit another couple of long runs before race day. I hope your Mother’s Day was great!

You are really committed to making the Peloton plan fit your life instead of the other way around, which is probably why it works so well. Great job, Coco!
All the best with the Lawyers have Heart run!!

Good luck with your race and have fun!

Still too cold for flower planting but I do have a lot of weeds!!

    Hope you enjoyed Mother’s Day!

I took a screenshot of Hannah Corbin’s class you like so I can give it a try later. I’ll let you know what I think!

Glad you had a relaxing Mother’s Day. That’s what it’s all about: doing what you love without being stressed.
