Already August Coffee Date

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that even in the heat of the summer I usually start my day with hot coffee, but after hot yoga I opted for an iced grande Americano. I had to drink it black because I could not for the life of me get the lid off! If there’s a trick to removing the newer Starbucks cold cup lids, I need someone to tell me.

Yes, I got my Starbucks before going to the donut shop.
They do sell coffee, but …

If we were having coffee, I would tell you I’ve only done one puzzle this year. I finished this one back in June but still have it out because it’s so pretty.

I just love the pop of color!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you I have really lost my cooking mojo, but when my son gave me lots of tomatoes and cucumbers from his garden, I dusted off my chef’s knife and cutting board, and made a delicious batch of gazpacho.

So refreshing on a hot day!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you Scooby’s recovery is going really well. We took him on an easy 2 mile hike last weekend and he did great!

He had no interest in going in the water!

This weekend I plan to do some hiking with my daughter in Colorado—hopefully the weather will be a bit cooler than it has been in D.C.—or at least less humid.

Yay! So glad Scoobys recovery is going well!! I bet you both enjoyed the hike together.

  2. Wendy says:

I’ve still been drinking hot coffee through the heat wave. It’s how I start the day!

Glad to hear Scooby’s doing well.

  3. Debbie says:

Enjoy your time in Colorado with your daughter! You’ll miss our cooler weather and lower humidity here this weekend, though. Maybe it will stick around until your return (fat chance, right?)

It’s great to hear that Scooby’s recovering well from his surgery. Pablo is the same, he doesn’t want to go in the water either which is nice since we have a creek in our back yard. We never have to worry about him running into the water and then drying him off.

  4. Michelle says:

So glad Scooby is recovery well!

It’s funny I’m usually a big iced coffee fan in the summer but this year I’ve been sticking with a hot mug to start the day.

    Enjoy your time in Colorado!!

  5. Jenny says:

I always drink hot tea in the morning, even in the summer- but I might make an exception if I just finished hot yoga. But actually I don’t think that will ever come up, because just the thought of hot yoga makes me angry.
i’m glad Scooby’s doing so well! He looks happy to be out on a hike.
To answer your question, SCHOOL is around the corner for us! We only have one more week off, and then it starts on the 11th. Oof.

  6. Marcia says:

Have so much in the dry mountain air! Glad to hear Scooby’s recovery is going well. That is a gorgeous puzzle for sure. I’ve been making lots of soups for my mom. I like to keep her freezer stocked.

  7. I drink hot coffee all year around too for some reason iced just tastes differently to me. I so enjoyed the cooler mountain air hope you do too!

  8. Catrina says:

Yay for an iced Americano and a donut shop visit!!
I’m like Jenny, I can drink hot tea in the hottest summer… It’s just an old habit.

That puzzle is beautiful – I can see why you’re keeping it out.

Enjoy Colorado and the time with your daughter! Is your husband coming with you?

  9. Yay for Scooby! I LOVE the puzzle! I mentioned my poppies n my garden, and your puzzle totally made me smile. Have you ever done the thing where you can treat it with adhesive and then frame it? Enjoy your Colorado time!

  10. Your puzzle matches your gazpacho! I haven’t done any puzzles this year. I need to start one.

I’ve been trying to get back into cooking. It’s harder for me in summer.

I hope to see you in Chicago soon!

  11. Jenn says:

OMG it’s too hot to cook. I can’t even stomach the idea of it. I’ve been grazing off cold stuff in the fridge.

You just reminded me that I have a new puzzle to bring out. Maybe next week when I get home from this assignment.

  12. I’ve been drinking iced coffee for the past few weeks. Sometimes I also drink it in the Winter. That is great news about Scooby! Have a great time in Colorado!

  13. I am a hot coffee person, no matter the time of year. However, I am not opposed to an iced coffee every once in a while.

I somehow missed the linkup cutoff, but wanted to join in anyway:

  14. Farrah says:

    That puzzle is gorgeous! <3

The gazpacho looks awesome too. I haven't cooked anything in a while (unless you count cooking while I was camping over the past 1.5 weeks), but I really want to start again.

So glad to hear that Scooby's recovering well! :]
