I’m not gonna lie, six days was a long time to be in Chicago for work, but I made the most of it and broke up the week with a fantastic runrise run with Wendy!
What a way to start the day!
Wrapping Up A Week In Chicago
Obviously, meeting Wendy IRL was the highlight of my week in Chicago. She met me at my hotel Sunday morning, and we ran along the Riverwalk and then along the Lakefront trail. Dedicated blogger/influencer that she is, Wendy brought her tripod so we could take some iconic Chicago photos.
We did not plan the matching tops!
We had to brave a sketchy staircase to get this shot, but I’d do it again with company.
I clipped this from a video we took under one of my favorite underpasses of the Riverwalk.
Obviously, we had a lot of fun! We ended our run at the Starbucks near my hotel, and enjoyed more time chatting over coffee.
I put off work a bit longer on Sunday by visiting the Museum of Contemporary Art. It’s hard to pick a favorite to share, but this piece intrigued me.
Weekly Run Down
Here’s how the rest of the week went down:
Sunday: 30 min Peloton + 6.5 mile Run with Wendy
To keep up my Peloton streak for the December challenge, I did 30 min of Peloton classes in my hotel room before meeting Wendy—10 min core, 10 min strength warm-up, and 10 min bodyweight class.
Wendy and I should have compared Garmin data—especially for the part along the Riverwalk. Mine logged 6.7 miles, but has me crossing the river a few times.
Monday: 20 min UB Strength + 35 min Peloton Rides
I did a core workout in my room, and then hit the hotel gym for a 20 min upper body class before hopping on the Peloton bike for a 20 min ride with Hannah F and 15 min Lanebreak ride. With my post-ride stretch I hit 6700 Peloton classes!
Tuesday: Core + 20 min FB Strength + 30 min Peloton Ride
Almost a repeat of Monday, but I did a 20 min FB strength class.
Wednesday: 30 min Walk + 10 min Hip Mobility
Finally heading home! To keep up my 30 min streak I took Scooby for a walk when I got home, even though it was raining. Later in the day I tried Andy’s hip mobility class which would be good to do regularly.
Thursday: Core + Strength + 3.5 Tread Miles
It was nice to be back in my basement gym. I opted for the bodyweight class so I could really focus on my form with my lunges.
Friday: 30 min FB Strength + 20 min Peloton Ride
I love Jess’s longer strength classes, and this was a good one—nothing too fast paced and no burpees. The unilateral block highlighted some strength imbalances—especially in my split squats.
Saturday: Core + 5.4 Scooby Miles
It was in the low 30s and my best running gear from last weekend was still in my laundry basket, so this run was more invigorating than I planned, but it felt good to be out with Scooby again.
Scooby’s not too sure about Frosty!
Now that I’m home, it’s time to get ready for Christmas. 🎄 My husband got our tree up and I decorated it this week, and I’ll be baking tomorrow, but I’m putting off my last-minute shopping until next weekend—when it really will be last minute! 🧑🎄
A huge thank you to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up.
Are you ready for the holidays?
Fabulous that you and Wendy finally met in person! Looking at the photos, I’m surprised that Wendy is so tall! I always imagined you two being the same height.
I’m glad you finally get a bit of a breather and can get the bake-a-thon going!
Or maybe I’m so short!
I’m ready-ish! We still need to do some more gift cards and meal prep, but I’m not stressing about it too much.
That’s one of my all time favorite photos of Scooby. He’s such a distinguished gentleman.
I love that you got to hang with Wendy, and that you got so many great running photos!
How fun that you and Wendy got to go for a run together and coffee afterward! I love running along the lakefront. It’s so beautiful!
So awesome that you could meet up with Wendy. Love all the pics.
Haven’t been to Chicago in many years and it was before being a runner.
I’m only buying for my granddaughter. Done I think thanks to Amazon.
I am a bit behind on all the Christmas prep. My work schedule is stealing much of my free time these days. Thankfully, most of the “gift” items I can probably find online, but I’m still needing stocking stuffers. And the baking will finally start this afternoon (when I finish all the blogging duties, LOL). I’m glad you had a nice time in Chicago, stayed on-task with your workout, and got to run with Wendy!
I’m so glad we got to run together! As I always tell anyone who runs with me, I really appreciate your tolerance of my need to get good photos! And thank you for trusting me about the sketchy staircase–it’s a great view of the river! Please let me know when you’re coming back so we can run again. I mean, you said it was the highlight of your week! :p
I bet Scooby was happy to see you!
Looks like you had a fun run with Wendy. Chicago is such a fun city to run in. Hope you get some down time this week. I ordered all of gifts and never really went to any stores. Good luck finishing your shopping!
Well, if you want to shop last minute, you might as well really make it last minute! I hope you enjoyed your cookie baking.
Your run with Wendy looks really fun! I’ll bet you were also glad to get back home and run with Scooby too. i’ll echo Deborah and say I hope you get some down time this week!
How fun you got to run in Chicago with Wendy! I will be joining you with that last minute xmas shopping. Yikes! Enjoy your time at home!
