Welcome to the May 2024 Ultimate Coffee Date! I know this is a busy month for a lot of us, but even amid the mayhem it’s nice to take a break. Pour yourself a cup, pull up a chair, and join the linkup Deborah and I host the first Friday of every month.
You know how this works—grab the badge, link your post, and comment on the other blogs in the link-up.
You also may be joining the Fit Five Friday Link-Up with Darlene, Michelle, Renée, Jenn, and Zenaida.
Coffee Date Amid The Mayhem
If we were having coffee, I would tell you how nice it was to host Cari last weekend. The plan was hatched before I knew my hamstring was partly torn and recruited her to sign up for the Parkway Classic with me. As it turned out, I was Cari’s race sherpa instead of her race buddy, but it was fun to play tourist with her on my home turf.
Of course we had coffee!
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how fun it is to have our son take us out to the ballgame. He’s become a big Orioles fan and their season is off to a good start. When we first made plans for Monday night’s game I wondered if it might be too cool to sit there for hours. As it turns out it was in the 80s!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that instead of being sad about missing the Lawyer’s Have Heart race this year, I realized I could register as a virtual participant. Although I am sad I won’t be running it with Deborah, I’m glad I figured out how to keep up my annual fundraising streak.
I won’t get an iconic D.C. race photo like this one from last year, but I will support a cause that is close to my heart. ❤️ If you’d like to support the American Heart Association too, you can make a donation via my fundraising page.
Is there a cause you regularly fundraise for?
Do you have a month of mayhem on tap?
The things we miss out on when we’re injured!
But you found a great workaround in both cases. So nice that you can do the Heart race virtually!
Who knows, maybe Deborah will be running around in DC on that day and she can take that iconic pic for you!
Yes, I’ve gotten good at pivoting to a new plan.
How fun with Cari! I’ve been to a baseball game already as well (two weeks ago). It was sunny but cold & windy here (big surprise!). It felt more like football weather!!
That’s what I was expecting but it was hot!
Hooray for getting to host Cari! So fun! I missed the dx on your hammy. So sorry about the tear. Way to be such a good sport about your favorite race!
I got that dx in December and am still not sure how to fix it!
So fun to host Cari! I’m sorry to hear about the tear in your hammy – I’m dealing with a tear of my own too 🙁 Hope you’re on the mend soon!
Love the photo of you and Cari! That must have been a fun weekend. AND, how cool that your son is an Orioles fan. Baseball used to be my favorite sport and I went to games all the time- but I haven’t been to a game in ages.
Being able to pivot to Plan B is an important and useful skill in life! Glad you can still participate in your favorite event.
Hmm I did not remember there was a virtual option for the race. that weekend is now looking kind of hectic so nice to have that option too. Always fun to see Cari isn’t it!? Glad we both got to!
Ahh, so sorry to hear about yout injury but I’m glad you’re still able to do that race virtually!
I don’t really follow baseball but have been to a couple games with friends and it’s always been fun! :]
Bummer about the injury but cool that you could support Cari! Supported your virtual run!
So much mayhem!
I hope you and Cari had a blast!
At the moment, my biggest fundraising push is for marching band, scouts, and pug rescue. It’s so hard to keep up with everything.

You were totally still my race buddy! and the best host <3
Boo on the score of that game, but so glad you had warm fun. Yay on the fundraising streak
How fun that you got to see Cari! I have been out of the loop. What is going on with the injury? What happened and how long will you be in recovering?
