~Grateful~

Happy Thanksgiving!

This year I am giving thanks for so many things.

While it may seem trite to give thanks for good health, I am truly grateful that none of my loved ones are spending the holiday in the hospital this year.

I’m also grateful that my son is home for the long weekend. If we can’t get him to read from his elementary school poster of A Prayer for Thanksgiving by Robert Louis Stevenson, I know my Mom will step in.

You can read the words here.

While I will be missing our daughter, I know the animals at Luvin’ Arms Animal Sanctuary will appreciate that she’s around to care for them.

My sister-in-law will be spending the day with us, and I’m grateful we have a drama-free relationship, so I won’t need these prayers for a peaceful Thanksgiving.

My son’s girlfriend is eager to cook for us, and I’m happy to step back and be her sous-chef. I won’t even pressure her to tackle the pain-in-the-ass apple pie recipe.

I usually get stressed out over the holiday–mostly the self-imposed pressure of making too many pies, getting the table set, timing all the side dishes correctly, staying on top of the dishes, and not completely neglecting our guests–and am really going to try to enjoy the day. I may even get to watch some football!

Happy Thanksgiving!

It really is all about family, isn’t it? Happy Thanksgiving!

  2. It is stressful hosting, so I’m glad you get to take a break and hand over the baton. I don’t mind the cooking, it’s the cleaning that kills me. That and I decided to do a deep dive into some of the clutter (and of course all the darn vet appointments that had to be in the last couple of weeks).

  5. Sounds like you have a lot to be thankful for this year! Have a great day hope to see you soon

Too many pies? Is there such a thing? I can’t eat pastry now so I’d be having ALL the pies if I could. Happy Thanksgiving and I’m glad you’ve got a lovely extended family and caring children!
