Peloton Milestones And September Goals

Here we are at the end of August. I am still working at home, and still working out at home. It’s no surprise then that I have some Peloton milestones to celebrate.

Peloton 6K Minute Badge

6000 minutes of Peloton workouts!

Make plans to join the September Ultimate Coffee Date over Labor Day weekend. Deborah and I will open the (link-up) doors Friday September 4th.

Peloton Milestones

When I signed up for the extended 90-day free trial in March, I had no idea how much I was going to love Peloton classes. At first, I only did a few workouts a week, but once I discovered–and got hooked on–the outdoor runs, I started using the app every day, either running with Scooby or doing strength workouts–or both. Since I didn’t join Peloton until 1/4 way through the year, I didn’t sign up for the “The Annual” challenge, but when I realized you earn badges for reaching certain minute levels, I decided to opt in. It was a nice surprise when it gave me credit for my minutes to date, and it didn’t take much longer to earn the 6K minute badge pictured above.

Another badge I earned recently was for the Run 4 Fun challenge. The goal was to log 4 runs over 16 days. I knocked those out right away.

Pelton Run 4 Fun Badge

I logged my 100th Peloton strength workout a while ago, and was thrilled to learn that Peloton would send me a (free) t-shirt to mark that accomplishment.

Peloton Century Club Shirt

I’d heard about long waiting times, but it only took a few weeks for my Pelton Century Club t-shirt to arrive in the mail.

Another Peloton milestone is more personal. Soon after I signed up for Peloton, Deborah tagged me into a strength-focused Peloton Facebook group with moderators who create an amazing monthly calendar of strength workouts. I’ve used the calendar randomly for inspiration, but for August I decided to do the scheduled core workouts–and I did them every day!

Peloton Hard Core Calendar

Most core workouts are 10 minutes,
but the Monday core workouts were 20 minutes.

September Goals

I don’t usually make monthly goals, but unprecedented times call for unprecedented coping mechanisms. Right now, I need a few goals to keep me from feeling adrift.

September Goals
The fitness goals will be easy to accomplish as long as I don’t forget about them. The health goals relate to bad habits I constantly struggle with. I’ve been better and worse about both during these challenging times, but my weight is starting to creep up and I feel so much better when I don’t fall asleep on the sofa and crawl up to bed in the middle of the night, so it’s time to tackle these issues for real.

Weekly Run Down

As I mentioned in my Runfessions post, this week I mixed up my workout routine to start with my basement gym workouts and then take Scooby out for a walk or run. I did this for two reasons. First, so it will be light when I take Scooby out. Second, to give my legs more time to wake up and warm up before running. I ended up doing more treadmill runs this way, but don’t worry, Scooby got at least a walk every morning!

Monday: 40 min Peloton Stength Workouts + 30 min Peloton Treadmill
I tried my first 20 minute Strength for Runners workout, and really liked it. Lots of single leg and balance work I can never get enough of.

Tuesday: 3.2 Scooby Miles + 30 min Peloton Strength

Wearing a tank like this, how could I not take Scooby out?

Wednesday: 5.3 Scooby Miles + 10 min Peloton Core Workout
Cooler weather (low 70s) made a longer run impossible to resist.

Thursday: 30 min Peloton Strength + 30 min Peloton Treadmill
I rolled out of bed with no plan, and ended up doing an odd sequence of strength, treadmill, and strength classes before taking Scooby out for a walk.

Friday: 20 min Peloton Strength + 30 min Peloton Treadmill
I know it’s crazy, but I am really loving the 30 minute Peloton treadmill runs. I probably should save them for more miserable weather days, but they seem to add new ones often enough. My arms were still sore from Thursday’s 10 minute arms workout, so I opted for a new 15 min stretching program to ease into the weekend with The Weekend playlists.

Saturday: 6.2 Scooby Miles + 10 min Peloton Core
The low 70s tricked me into a longer run unaware of the suffocating humidity. I was done at mile 5 but made it home with a few walk breaks.

Scooby Run

Yes, I do use this water fountain at my neighborhood school–
would that worry you?

Sunday: 3.15 Scooby Miles + 43 mile bike ride
The promised cool front finally came through, and the weather was glorious! I couldn’t resist taking Scooby for a run even though my priority for the day was a bike ride.

My goal was a 30-ish mile ride, but between not planning our route and enjoying the weather, we went a bit longer. 😉

Thank goodness I’ve got tomorrow to recover before I tackle my September goals.

Thanks to Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down link up. Even if my weeks are pretty much the same, I enjoy seeing what others are doing.

Are you setting any goals for September?

I already knew you were a machine, lol! And yes, using that drinking fountain worries me.

    • Coco says:

Hmmm. My husband got really mad at me when I pushed a button for a crossing signal today. At least we were close to home and I made sure not to use that hand to wipe my brow or grab my water bottle.

  2. Birchwood Pie says:

Yay for not saving the “good” treadmill workouts and doing them instead. There’s a lot to be said for doing the workout that you want to do when you want to do it. My biggest goal for September is to track what I eat and watch the snacking, b/c I have a feeling that once it gets cooler I’m not going to enjoy the first day that I put on jeans.

    • Coco says:

Oh, you are so right — but I’ve got a drawer full of stretchy leggings I can wear as long as we are still working at home.

  3. kookyrunner says:

I’m thrilled that you love the Peloton workouts and congratulations on all of your milestones! The daily strength workouts look great and kudos to the person that put together that calendar!

Great job on your workouts this week – I also really enjoyed The Weeknd classes, especially the 15 minute stretch. I think my body appreciated it too.

That drinking fountain concerns me, but my mom tells me that I’m overly cautious so take it with a grain of salt, lol

    • Coco says:

I’m wary of people but may underestimate the risks of contact — although I do wash my hands as soon as I get home regardless.

  4. Well look at you racking up all of the Peloton milestones! I think you have become as much of a super fan as I am! Nice week of workouts. The ST group is great!

  5. Michelle D. says:

So many great Peloton workouts! Congrats on your milestones! That strength training group’s workouts looks so great!

I love your September goals! I guess I better hurry up and make a plan for the month 😉

  6. Lisa says:

Great job with all your Peloton milestones! I don’t think I would drink from the water fountain, but I’m definitely more cautious than most people I think. Hope your goals for September go well!

  7. Kim at Running on the Fly says:

Well, I’ve been calling Deborah and Kooky Kim the Peloton queens for awhile…I think you’re the perfect candidate for membership in their royal court 😉 Way to go on that 6K milestone!!!

  8. Cari says:

Nicely done on the August strength and all the peloton milestones. I’ve used water fountains. I’m still (trying) to open doors with my hip or shoulder though. There’s no perfect solution, but I still try to carry sanitizer with me.
I’ll see your “falling asleep watching TV” and raise you “waking up when my Kindle hits me in the face” oops. But I do love my pre-bed reading. Trying too to break the snack habit

  9. My goals will be revealed tomorrow. 🙂 And Peloton is right — you are a machine! I seriously can’t work out that much, but we’re all different. You do you!

Good to know about some of the other Peloton stuff, but I only use it for some strength workouts, so by the time I complete 100 it could be years, LOL!

  10. Marcia says:

It’s so interesting to see the various ways people are motivated! I’m surprised that drinking fountain is actually on. All fountains around here remain shut off.

  11. Darlene S. Cardillo says:

    You are a Peleton machine.

    I don’t have goals. Maybe I should?

  12. runswithpugs says:

    Scooby makes me happy!

Love all your goals. I am so happy to be running again, that I really haven’t worried too much about much else. I should get back on the strength training wagon.

  13. Nice ride!! Scooby’s coloring is so pretty. Is he a specific breed? You have good goals. I need to make some little goals, like get back on the PT wagon! Baby steps.

    • Coco says:

He’s a german shepherd mix — I didn’t realize shepherds could have brindle coloring, but the DNA test confirmed it. 😉

  14. Our water fountains are off on the lakefront so we need to take our own water. Umm, even if they were on I don’t think I would use them now.

Great job on the milestones! I earned the 3k badge so it will be interesting which other ones I earn by the end of the year.

I also like the 30 minute runs. I do them when I need to run 3 miles but then run a few minutes in silence since it takes me longer than 30 minutes to run 3 miles.

I found the Strength for Runners classes. I really wished there was a search option. I bookmarked them so I could find them later.
