Isn’t it nice to be getting together for the April Ultimate Coffee Date! When our other outlets for socializing are limited by social distancing guidelines and stay-at-home orders, Deborah and I are glad to be able to host this virtual get together. Now more than even, it’s important to stay connected and keep in touch.
Thought you might want to see our real faces today!

Getting Together For Coffee
If we were having coffee, I would ask how you’re doing. It’s a question I’ve been asking a lot lately, and I mean it sincerely.
If we were having coffee, I would ask if you’re under a stay-at-home order and how you’re adjusting. Since my husband and I are both working at home, I’ve noticed the stark contrast in our schedules. I get up around 5, take Scooby out, exercise, have coffee and breakfast, and start working by 8–nearly three hours after waking up.
On the other hand my husband gets up at 5:30 or so, brews a cup of coffee in the Keurig, and starts working by 6:00 am–barely 1/2 hour after waking up!
If we were having coffee, I would ask if you’ve hopped on the jigsaw puzzle bandwagon. I was bummed when my busy January and February didn’t leave me time to start any of the puzzles I received for Christmas, but now I’m glad to have so many to choose from.
My current project is a historical map of D.C.–
not sure why I started with the water.
If we were having coffee, I would wonder if anyone still cares about the status of my efforts to get PayPal to refund me for my ill-advised, last-ditch efforts to get my hands on (feet in?) my favorite Mizunos. In case people are doing more on-line shopping than usual, I will finish my cautionary tale.
Not Mizunos!
It took a long time and repeated calls to PayPal’s customer service line, but they finally issued my refund. The only reason I came out ahead is because my office mail room was able to ship my return package using some sort of shipping/postage meter credits I don’t fully understand. Otherwise, the costs to send a tracked package to China would have been about the same as my refund. Needless to say, that’s the last time I’ll knowingly order something from a foreign third-party seller.
What would you tell me over coffee?
How are you doing?
It takes me a long time to start working as well – and my husband is like yours, barely 30 minutes after waking up he’s at his desk.
I can’t believe you started that puzzle with the water, haha!
I really don’t know what I was thinking!
I’ve been getting up much much later than normal, starting up my laptop, checking a few crucial things and then drinking coffee, eating breakfast and getting dressed. Getting dressed as if I’m going to the office has helped this week.
otherwise, I’m kind of floundering over here.
I am getting dressed … in leggings and a cozy top b/c it’s chilly in my basement! I’m sorry you’re having such a rough time. Being busy with work is helping me compartmentalize and ignore the news for a few hours at a time.
I’m still getting up at my usual time (between 5:00-5:30, except for my #5at5 mornings) because my work schedule has not changed…yet. We have an early meeting this morning for the few remaining of us to discuss our concerns. If I wasn’t going to work onsite, I’d probably still get up at the usual time and do my workout routine anyways…it’s what my body knows LOL
I can’t believe you’re still working! I’m basically keeping my same routine but I think my brain expects the weekend routine — leisurely breakfast and social media time — since I’m at home.
I’m still waking up between 5:30 and 6–it’s not that I want to, but my body is used to. My commute is so much shorter now, so really I wouldn’t have to..
Stay safe and thanks for coffee!
I’m glad you got your money back! I definitely avoid ordering stuff from China, but they can actually be pretty sneaky about it.
Mr. Judy & I have never been on the same schedule. We don’t go to bed together & we don’t get up at the same time (kind of obviously).
I’m not even working — although I keep myself busy on non paying stuff! — but I get up early anyway. I’m a morning person, always have been.
Hah! I didn’t used to be a morning person, but sure am now. I want my me time before anyone else is up!
Unfortunately Mr. Judy keeps getting up earlier, so my me time in the morning has eroded some days. Yet he still goes to bed after me . . . Lola keeps trying to get him to go to bed earlier. 🙂
My hubby still works. For me I get up early but I don’t drive anywhere which is strange and I wear my running clothes all day.
I miss my friends.
Looking forward to tomorrow.
It’s great that you finally got your refund form PayPal.
I’m definitely sleeping later in the morning – getting up at 7’ish rather than 4:30 to 5 AM. I’m getting more overall sleep and as a result, my nighttime sleep is suffering. I’m waking up many times during the night and having trouble going back to sleep.
Thanks for the linkup and I can’t wait to “see” you tomorrow!
I wonder if that is stress more than sleep? It’s so hard to know
I’m about the same as you – getting up around 6 and working by 8:30/9!
We’re hanging in there. Closing of the lakefront was a bad blow to my sense of normalcy. I have a new running route that goes through the park. That’s at risk, too… but for now, I’m doing it. Trying to stay positive and sane. I definitely am getting more sleep and have less stress without travel (other than the new stress if that makes sense).
Can’t wait to “see” you on Saturday!
Our bike path is still open, but the parking lots are closed. I could park in a neighborhood and get to the trail but it’s definitely more of hassle
I used to happily wake at 5 with no alarm. Now I can no longer get up. I’ll sleep til 7 if I can. I think it’s my body’s way of managing stress.
I do love having everyone home. The kids’ remote learning and music lessons are going well. I am lucky to live remote enough so that my running remains very solo, although there are lots of people out walking in the afternoon.
Sorry the non-Mizuno experience was a bad one. Glad you finally got a refund!
I’m so glad your daughters are coping! My kids are doing ok, but I miss them!
I’m glad that you were able to finally get a refund from Paypal!
I’m still waking up at the same time every day (6am), but now instead of getting ready for work, I wake up and workout, shower and then eat while logging onto work. I still want to wake up at my normal time so that my body won’t be in shock when I’m back at the office.
I think no matter what it’s going to be shock!
Oh, good idea about the puzzles! I know we have one from our last vacation that we still haven’t done.
I had a not so pleasant order from china also for some leggings which were awful. I gave up on trying to return them and get a credit. WE have been puzzles too they are a great distraction. Trying to sleep in a bit since I literally have nothing to do! Great to catchup over coffee today
We should do a puzzle exchange — from a safe distance!
I’m really glad we still have the virtual world to keep in touch with people–this would be so much harder if not for that. I’m so glad the refund finally came through!! Better late than never!
At some point it became a matter of principle!
I’m doing ok. We are now under the Safer At Home order (effective last night at midnight), and it’s just the same as what we were doing before. We have been very cautious with our trips out (really, just to the grocery store once a week), and have been staying at home or around the house.
That’s crazy about the shoes, but I’m glad you got your refund.
In other news, I am not even bothering to set an alarm. My body clock wakes me at 6, and I get up when it’s a little lighter to go for my walk. We have nowhere to be, and I don’t have set work hours since I freelance.
How are you?
I’m glad your Mizuno story had a happy ending. I recently ordered a book from Amazon that I never got and I had to have several conversations both on the phone and online with my credit card company and the book seller but the money was finally refunded to my account. Ugh! What a pain!
I know I spend more time and energy on it than I should have, but I didn’t want to let them win. LOL
Funny I have noticed a stark difference in my husband’s schedule vs mine as well. I need some “me time” before diving into work but my husband can jump on his laptop before his coffee’s even finished brewing.
Glad you were able to finally get your refund resolved!
Thanks for hosting coffee 🙂
Sounds like we have similarly different schedules. I’m glad we have different corners of the house to work in.
I’m doing…fair. My business has taken a devastating hit and I had a bit of a moment last week. Literally a moment…and then I put it all in perspective. My husband and I have hospital jobs; essential workers, so we have to go in. My mom lives with us and will be 91 years old next month, so that’s what makes it especially scary for me.
We’ve been under a stay at home order in Illinois for two weeks now. We’ve actually been doing lots of puzzles since Christmas, and we often play cards or board games so none of that is really new. I guess for some of us we’d be fine if we weren’t told we HAD to stay home.
How are you doing/feeling? It’s great you can work from your home. Stay healthy!
I mostly cope by trying not to think about it. I’m glad you have your hospital jobs, but those can be worrisome too. My husband isn’t much into games so I do puzzles while he watches tv.
My family considered jumping on the puzzle bandwagon. We have a couple we haven’t opened yet that we bought years ago!
I just started working this week and it’s definitely an adjustment with us both working from home. I’m still trying to figure out my start time and a reasonable pumping schedule!
I’m glad you got your money back from Paypal! I’m still waiting on some cloth diapers I ordered from China about 6 weeks ago before. Granted they say to expect a long wait but I’m crossing my fingers before requesting a refund!
I have been working from home for 2 years, so I am used to it. However, having my kids home now and helping them with school has really been an adujstment!!!
The puzzle is a great idea. This would be a great coffee date
It was so good to see your real faces here – and at our coffee date. Yay on the mizunos, and same same re: asking how people are doing. So needed.
I’ve reverted back into a roll out of bead and onto my chair-although sometimes there’s a walk for coffee
