Happy February! I feel like January was a rough month personally and politically, and I am ready for things to settle down. Punxsutawney Phil says we are in for another six weeks of winter, and I wouldn’t mind a snow day or two! Since today is the first Saturday of the month, Deborah and I are hosting the Ultimate Coffee Date Link Up, so pour yourself a cup, pull up a chair, and let’s catch up!

If We Were Having Coffee …
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that we are finally moving ahead with our kitchen renovation plans! We still have to make our final materials selections next week but this is happening!
You can’t tell from the drawing, but this will involve taking down a wall between our kitchen and the dining room (on the left of the drawing) and re-doing the ceiling to minimize the drop-downs that conceal duct work and pipes. While I’m excited for the finished product, I’m not looking forward to 6-8 weeks without a kitchen, but at least we have a spare fridge and utility sink in our our basement, and I can take over my husband’s workbenches with the microwave, crockpot and rice cooker. 🙂
If we were having coffee, I’d ask if you have any opinion on Bosch versus Kitchen Aid appliances–if you do, please let me know in the comments or by email!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I just got back from a grueling business trip, working 8 am to 11 pm or later. It was great to come home to the January Must Have Box, which I was sent to review via my collaboration with PopSugar, since it is filled with pampering items.
I think my favorites are the Manduka Yoga Towel, Sourcebooks Happy Notes, and Dean & Deluca Peppermint Tea–yes, this coffee lover enjoys tea from time to time. If you want to receive a monthly box filled with full-sized products valued at over $100, you can use coupon code SHOP5 for $5 off your first order here.
If we were having coffee, I’d ask if you are planning to watch the Superbowl and who you are rooting for. My son usually roots for the Patriots, but I like to cheer on the underdog.

If we were having coffee, I’d have to excuse myself since I have to start packing up my kitchen. I’d remind you to visit other blogs in the link up, including Confessions Of A Mother Runner where you can chat with my co-host Deborah.
Congrats on starting your remodel! I’m dying to re-do our kitchen. I will say that I have a Bosch dishwasher that is awesome.
Your business trip does sound brutal – it’s nice that you got to come home to some nice treats! I keep seeing more and more about these Pop Sugar boxes.
And, yay for your son being a Pats fan 😉 Have a great weekend!
The kitchen has been on the list of things to do for two years! The final planning process took a few months of deciding on the remodeling plans. Hopefully the actual work won’t take as long!
Although it will be a pain while you are renovating its so worth it! I have not tried the peppermint tea yet and yes the yoga mat is great. Hope we can meet up for yoga soon. Great catching up today.
Yes, would love to try out the yoga towel this weekend!
How exciting that you’re remodeling your kitchen! I lived through a kitchen remodel once. It’s not the best, but the end result is so worth it!
Thanks for the linkup!
We renovated our kitchen when my youngest was born–almost 18 years ago. I think it’s time for an upgrade, just saying…
I kind of don’t care who wins, but it’s always fun to watch some good football!
Yep. And even if the game isn’t that good, there’s always the commercials to look forward to!
We took out walls from our tiny kitchen when we first moved here — made a huge difference in the house. Luckily, we didn’t touch the existing kitchen much, so I still had a functioning kitchen.
And since I don’t work, and we had 4 animals at the time, it was a total PITA. But worth it.
I have a Bosch dishwasher — unfortunately it’s not as good as the Bosch I had before we moved. I have to prewash stuff. 🙁 The old one I didn’t have to do that.
Our stove is GE. It’s a double oven — which is a must for me — don’t know how I lived without that for most of my life.
And remember, it ALWAYS takes longer than they say. Good luck!
Yes, I am counting on it taking longer! The one appliance we are not replacing is our dishwasher. We had a Bosch we liked in our old house, but now we have a suppposedly high-end Kenmore that requires pre-washing.
All the best with the reno. We did a total kitchen reno in our last house complete with taking a wall down and yes, PITA but wonderful when done. We had a Kitchenaid Dishwasher here when we moved in. I replaced it with Bosch a couple of years ago and it is SO much better.
Oh…a kitchen remodel. I’ve been there and done that a few times (in previous homes). I feel your pain (and anxiety?), but I will rejoice with you when it’s all over. Good luck!!
I’d love to have you all over for coffee for real when it’s done!
How exciting to be getting a new kitchen. Good luck! We did that about 10 years ago. Thankfully, there was no major construction involved and it only took one week. My husband is a Falcons fan but I’ll be watching the Super Bowl just for the commercials. Thanks for coffee, Coco!
I got a Manduka yoga towel from a Core Power press event and I absolutely love it!! Best thing to get through those sweaty yoga sessions.
Ahhh…renovations are painful, but I am sure it’ll all be worth it at the end. Gotta try the ‘Must Have Box’. Looks pretty neat! Like you, I am a coffee lover who enjoys tea from time to time.
Yay! for the kitchen getting underway. I know you’re excited and it will be rough for a while…but so worth it in the end.
Yes, I’ll be glued to the Superbowl and will be pulling for the Falcons…they’ve been my son’s favorite team for years and he is so excited that they are finally good this year!
Glad you are back home and resting from that rough work week… those are some long hours!
I rarely have to work that late, and rarely for more than one or two days in a row — a week was tough but since I was part of a team, it wasn’t as bad as it sounds.
I’ve had Bosch appliances before and I loved them. They’re heavy duty and I can’t say enough nice things about them. The only Kitchen Aid appliance I own is my stand mixer, so I can’t really say anything about KA! Love that beautiful stove you posted – I miss my gas stove so much! (our house now doesn’t have a gas line 🙁 ).
Oh, good to know! I grew up with a gas stove but didn’t have one until this house — love it!
Your kitchen remodel will be so cool and so worth it when it is all done- good luck!
The kitchen reno looks exciting! I can’t imagine such a project…I still have some minor improvements I’d like to make with our kitchen but just haven’t added it to the priority list yet!
I’m glad you made it through that rough work trip! 🙂
I’ve had a kitchen wish list tacked up for a year – time to get it done!
That is so exciting to re-do your kitchen and make it exactly to your choice and pick of design! My mom has kitchen aid appliances, and wishes she didn’t- they were less expensive, but now 2 years later, she wishes she did the other option…for what it’s worth! I know of no specifics for you, sorry- I always go to consumer reports for big ticket items! I can’t agree more that January was taxing…and I am hoping for a wonderful February! Have fun with the remodel!
Thanks. Consumer Reports wasn’t very helpful — hard to find the exact models for what we are looking at, or they suggest a different brand for each appliance which is too much!
I did a major kitchen Reno in 2008. I regretted not going the Bosch dishwasher. I am a Wolf stove snob though. Unfortunately hubs relocated jobs and I had to leave my kitchen. The kitchen in the new house isn’t the same. Good luck with the kitchen remodel.
How exciting on the remodel! I will watch the Super Bowl – mostly for the commercials! I don’t really care about the teams this year. I guess I pick the Falcons 😉
I agree on the year so far. Trying to appreciate life’s small pleasures!
Remodeling is so much fun and frustrating at the same time! I am watching the Super Bowl but I am watching it for the commercials. I would prefer to see the Falcons win. ;o)
Yay for awesome kitchens! I can’t wait til I have my own space and can start decking it out the way I’d like to! <3 That Must Have box sounds awesome–soo many great pampering items! :]!
That peppermint tea looks fantastic and I’m not even a tea drinker. It is never fun to live around renovations, however, it will be so worth it! I can’t wait to see photos of the construction and the finished product.
How exciting a kitchen remodel! I watched the Super Bowl… but rooted for the Falcons, oh and Lady Gaga 🙂
